PALM BEACH POST:
LAKE WORTH BEACH — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office’s bomb team investigated a box with “dynamite” written on it that was found on the beach in Lake Worth Beach on Thursday morning.
The sheriff’s office said that someone found the box and “carried it quite a distance” before bringing it to a lifeguard tower. The bomb squad did not find any explosives, the sheriff’s office said.
City authorities said it appeared the box washed ashore. They temporarily closed the beach and the pier while the sheriff’s office investigated. It has since reopened.
City spokesman Ben Kerr said the box’s label indicating explosives were inside “obviously ... sets off a big response.”
