Power of the Purse - Trump and Ric Bradshaw

Sometimes your beliefs boil down to how it affects your pocketbook...funny how that is. Actually, it's more sad than funny when elected officials who take an oath to obey the law including federal law, break it or ignore it.

"According to the 2016 Current Population Survey (CPS), immigrants and their U.S.-born children now number approximately 84.3 million people, or 27 percent of the overall U.S. population. Since 1970, the number of U.S. immigrants more than quadrupled, rising from 9.6 million then to 43.3 million in 2015." [Migration Policy org]

Today we have Palm Beach County Sheriff, Ric Bradshaw and the Palm Beach County Commission agreeing to president Trump's request to help in the illegal immigration problem. Why have they agreed?  Grant Money.  Bradshaw says he won't be doing anything differently than he already does. He's cooperative you see and says we are not a sanctuary county.

It's the power of the purse--not ethics, morality or doing your sworn job per the law. Pathetic.

It's sad that so many Americans are so poor that they have to be on government assistance. I understand that minority's are discriminated against and have a harder time to be successful then whites. It's the poor white people that I don't understand the ones who don't own property, have terrible credit, can't afford a decent car, work low paying jobs living pay check to paycheck. Is it a lack of education, bad upbringing, drugs & alcohol, psychological? We have so many opportunities here yet so many are hopeless.

You think minorities are discriminated against? You reap what you sow in this world. Every opportunity is given to everyone, black, white, poor or wealthy, to succeed. People come here for better opportunities. They also come illegally. They don't assimilate--learn the language, fit in, get a job, etc. They wonder why they're poor and on government assistance? Employers take advantage of them. There was a time when I first worked that I lived pay check to paycheck. You get educated, acquire skills and rise above it. And come to this country legally.

I agree with you Lynn, the other day in the LW Bodegon supermarket there was a what looked like a Guatemalan family paying for a bunch of junk food and the mother paid with a ebt food stamp card, this is sad that our government allows this. Our government needs to be stricter with food stamp cards, and only allow healthy and nutritional food to be bought like the WIC program does, this is sinful, but they just want us all to be sick, the poor are the sickest because they eat so bad and often are the fattest too. Today at Aldi a couple bought a huge cart full of food, lots of junk food and paid with an ebt card, I see it every day here in our poor little city. The government should not allow this at all. Then they wonder why they are arresting all these quik stop owners for accepting ebt cars for alcohol and cigarettes and making it look like it was food and making money off the deal from the poor who just want junk food and alcohol and cigs.
Our government and these greedy quik stop owners are to blame preying on the poor of this country. It is a sin!

It is sad today that our society and most of our population would rather take handouts then to work hard and provide for themselves, our government only promotes this and they need to stop all this welfare, it is harmful for our society. Pitiful!

@8:36pm--not happy with your comment. I believe the point is immigrants, probably illegals, (most of these people who shop there do NOT speak English) are purchasing with U.S. food stamps bought and paid for by you.

My grandparent spoke Hungarian and German working the mines in Pennsylvania and never learned English.

People who are here illegally cannot get food stamps or ebt cards. Many people who have proper documentation speak other languages - you cant make the assumption that they're illegal because they're not speaking English.
