Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

We are one of two cities in the entire county allowing medical marijuana dispensaries. And we will be the first city to have one opened for business. So far, six cities have banned them altogether.

What is the problem?

They have to be regulated like pharmacies or banned completely. So, since the present commission allowed FOR them, we cannot control the number of pot dispensaries that open nor can we dictate their hours of operation or where they are located, according to today's article in the Palm Beach Post.

If true, does this remind you of the Sober Home fiasco with owners opening them on every block in Lake Worth? We have a drug epidemic. Now with pot dispensaries allowed to open anywhere, will we have the same untenable situation?

Back in July, a few residents had something to say about it...Click here... Andy Amoroso said two was enough and Sarah Malega, running for District 1 commissioner, gave a politically smart answer.

Lynn, So when did the current “vote for them”? The two Dixie Hwy dispensaries that were approved by staff was in compliance with our current zoning codes. There was no variance or vote needed to open that type of business. The state legislature mandated dispensaries be treated like retail pharmacies so the approval of their business license was done at the staff level. No vote had to take place. Now the city has a moratorium on any new applications being approved like some of the municipalities have done in the county. That was voted on by the current commission. With that though, if a Walgreens or CVS wants to open a new location in our city or all the other municipalities that have moratoriums in place couldn’t open them as well. Claiming commissioners voted for something they didn’t is “fake news”.

Well, because they did not vote against THEM, they in essence voted for them.
Silence is consent.
The commission did the WRONG thing. We pay a lot of money for legal advice. Where was it when we needed it?
I've heard your speil before, Greg. You are for it and I voted against it.
So take your "fake news" somewhere else.

So why didn't the "staff" of every other town in Palm Beach County allow them into their cities? Amoroso and his "good friend" the "Vape King" are peeing in their pants they are so excited. I predict a very early and well funded retirement for Mr. Waters and other STAFF !
