Chris Zimmerman, CPZ
The dilemma for the evaluating committee was Fresh eyes on the beach over an Engineering firm, Kimley Horn, that was part of the original beach project.
CPZ Architects and Kimley Horn, both highly qualified firms, were evaluated today and the committee chose CPZ Architects. According to their web page, their design approach centers on the philosophy, proven by experience, that even the most basic building can be designed to provide an economical, innovative and award-winning solution. And that's what they managed to convey today to the evaluation committee on our beach complex.
I liked both the companies but CPZ managed to mention charettes at least three times. Involving the public is always a winner. Only one commissioner was in attendance, Herman Robinson, who has had a keen interest in our beach complex and spending the money we receive from the one cent sales tax and using it towards our beach.
Members of the evaluation team:
Juan Ruiz, Assistant city manager CPZ 95 Kimley Horn 92
Lauren Bennett: Leisure Services Assistant Director CPZ 94 Kimley Horn 93
Phil Johnson: Facility Supervisor CPZ 92 Kimley Horn 90
Doug Yoakum, Acquatics Manager CPZ 93 Kinley Horn 90
Larry Lightfoot: Parking Operations Manager CPZ 95 Kimley Horn 94
TOTAL POINTS:
CPZ = 469
KIMLEY HORN = 459
