A solution to the Algae problem

South Florida Water Management has come up with a solution for the algae.

Read about it...

No more just blaming Rick Scott.

Actually there is a very good article in the PBPost by Frank Cerebino that is quite enlightening about this pass the blame game. In the late 1990s the EPA decreased the amounts of allowable nitrogen and phosphorus additives permitted in our water. For good reason, which is all to evident now. However Rick Scott and Pam Bondi together lobbied the EPA claiming this would place an undue hardship on Florida and negatively impact jobs. So apparently of course the EPA being the good watchdog that it isn't caved and said,"Sure, that's OK if that's how you feel." I wonder how all the marinas feel about that now with no customers and no income. Wanna come fish in toxic algae anyone? The sticky sick sweet kiss of sugamoney wins again. Why in the hell is this not a violation of the Clean Water and Air Act? And all this destruction, Drew Martin told me, is just to increase their profit by a mere 5%. That's right, our waterways are toxic so they can make an extra 5%. That's really fair, right? You lose your environment, fish die, toxic air and water but yeah, it's all OK for that 5% greater profit. Once again the law is not the law in Florida. There is a very simple answer: STOP POLLUTING OUR WATERWAYS with your huge additives of large amounts of artificial nitrogen and phosphorus. YOU PUT IT IN, YOU TAKE IT OUT. Those who cause this should be held responsible. Or better still--stop polluting in the first place.
