Can anyone beat Bradshaw?

Comment Up

Former Lake Worth high grad, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, just opened up a campaign account for reelection in 2016.

Bradshaw, a former police chief in West Palm Beach, was elected sheriff with 56.7 percent in 2004, then re-elected with 89.1 percent in 2008 and 78.5 percent in 2012.  His popularity is growing just as crime is increasing. People are afraid that the criminals will take over and they don't relish change in uncertain times.

Bradshaw oversees more than 4,000 employees who are among the highest paid in the state and 4,300 volunteers.  His department provides police services for more than 680,000 residents in the county's unincorporated areas as well as more than 120,000 residents in seven cities and towns, one of which is Lake worth. Being Palm Beach County's biggest operating expense, his budget has grown about 68 percent since 2005, climbing to $531 million.
