The finest group of people you would ever want to meet, The Lake Worth Alumni Association, met yesterday for its bi-annual breakfast meeting at Atlantis Country Club.
Scholarship Committee members were in attendance: Chairpersons Paul Blockson and Doris Welsh and Nominating Committee members, Dennis & Doris Dorsey. Three new scholarship funds were set up in the Lake Worth Dollars for Scholars Foundation bringing the total to nineteen. As previously mentioned, the 17th Annual Dollars for Scholars Award's Ceremony was held on May 5 where $68,000 was awarded to 43 seniors. Since inception, the Fund has awarded a grand total of $903,700.
I was sitting at the table of the James Addison's as well as Dennis and his grandson, Sean Dorsey. Sean drew the winning 50/50 that was won by Ron Schutta, friend of the Alumni Association. He donated his $130 winnings back to a worthy cause.
