Historical Society Dedication

Historical Society of Lake Worth PRESS RELEASE

The formal dedication of the Community of Jewell Mural will take place at the mural site on:

Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 4 PM.

This wonderful art-piece was installed earlier this year by the Historical Society of Lake Worth and is located in the picnic pavilion in South Bryant Park near the intersection of S. Lakeside Dr. and 5th Ave South. The dedication ceremony is open to the public.

Jewell was the predecessor community to Lake Worth. It was established in 1885 by Fannie and Samuel James former slaves, and existed for 25 years as an unincorporated cluster of agricultural homesteads along the western shore of Lake Worth, south of West Palm Beach and north of Lantana.

The dedication ceremony will include remarks by the Historical Society, the artist, and city officials. Refreshments characteristic of the late 19th Century will be served
