Another costly Biden program bites the dust

IRS Closes Down Free Direct File Service

A Treasury report found that 0.5 percent of 146 million tax returns for tax year 2024 were filed via the program.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), the ranking member on the Senate Finance Committee, released a statement on Nov. 6 criticizing the IRS’s decision. He said the program should remain in effect for the 2026 filing season, which is slated to start in January 2026.

Direct File was rolled out as a pilot program in 2024 for the 2023 tax year after the IRS was tasked with looking into how to create a filing system under the Inflation Reduction Act that was signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2022.

“I wrote the bill that created Direct File because the existing free options were insufficient and the big tax prep companies had been caught red-handed using deceptive practices to scam taxpayers into overpaying,” Wyden said.

“Direct File had low overall participation and relatively high costs and burdens on the federal government, compared to other free filing options,” the report stated.

It noted that less than 0.5 percent of all 146 million tax returns that were filed for tax year 2024 were submitted through the Direct File program, which cost the federal government about $41 million for that year.

Dems now have Trump's Tax Returns

Democrats Win and Now Have Trump’s Tax Returns…Here’s What Happens Next

It’s been a long, hard-fought battle, but House Democrats finally have access to President Trump’s tax returns. After three years of costly court battles (costly to us, not them), the U.S. Supreme Court determined this week that they must be handed over and the Treasury Department has stated that they have already turned over Trump’s personal and business tax returns to the House Ways and Means Committee.

They have had a blank check investigating Trump and so far, nothing. Even the $million they will spend on tax experts going over Trump's tax returns will produce little and certainly nothing nefarious.

So, what does this all mean now? Well, not a lot. The Democrats are going to find something that they don’t like, but I would be willing to bet money that they can’t find anything illegal. What they need to be doing instead is looking at Joe Biden’s money and how connected it is to Ukraine and Hunter’s business dealings.

Trump's Emergency Appeal to Supreme Court works

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts DELAYS handover of Trump's tax returns to Congress

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has delayed the handover of Donald Trump's tax returns to a Democrat-led Congressional committee.

Trump filed an emergency appeal with the court on Monday, claiming the House Ways and Means Committee were trying to get hold of the records for political purposes.

It is the latest twist in the long legal battle between the former President and Congress.

Hunter and his Tax Returns

Hunter Had Money For Hookers and Blow But Not For Taxes

Will Hunter ever be audited?

In the fall of 2018, Hunter Biden still hadn’t filed his 2017 taxes. The princeling had no problem getting his dad who said he was the "smartest guy he knows," to wire him thousands for Russian hookers, and he had enough cocaine to end up floating face down in a hot tub.

Tax forms just weren’t as high a priority for him as they were for his accountant. Taxes late and unfiled.

In the treasure trove of emails slithering out of Hunter Biden’s lewd laptop were, as CNN reports, “a quick succession of emails from his accountant: They were all about his taxes.” With a testy note in his messages, Bill Morgan pointed out “they are late.” Biden let the extended deadline of October 15 go whooshing past. Another two weeks went by.

Now with the hire of 87,000 more IRS agents who will be armed, will they tackle Hunter Biden regarding his tax returns or just you?

Tax Returns for Biden, Harris Revealed

Federal income tax returns for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris

President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden reported a federal adjusted gross income of $610,702 last year, according to their 2021 federal income tax returns. The Bidens filed their income tax return jointly. The first couple made $607,336 in 2020, and $985,223 in 2019.

What happened to all that money given to them by Hunter?

The New York Post reported, “Between 2017 and 2019, in between his time as vice president and president, Biden earned more than $16.5 million, including large payouts for speaking at colleges and elsewhere. He earned almost $1 million from the University of Pennsylvania from 2017 to 2019, previous filings show.”

Cyrus Vance going after Trump with a vengeance

Manhattan DA Likely Squeezing Trump Organization Rat, Says Mueller Pal

Manhattan prosecutors may have found their “insider” as a grand jury considers whether charges are warranted against former President Donald Trump, according to a top prosecutor in Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation.

Andrew Weissmann, a former Justice Department official and FBI general counsel, said reports about the testimony of a senior Trump Organization official may be a game-changer for the New York-based inquiry.

Trump denies any wrongdoing and in February decried what he dubbed a “new phenomenon of ‘headhunting’ prosecutors and AGs.”

As Cyrus Vance is investigating and interviewing everyone imaginable, probably intimidating  them if they don't reveal confidential information, etc., Read about who they think is the insider

DA Cy Vance will retire this year

Manhattan DA out to "get" Trump Announces Intention to Leave Office

The New York district attorney, after Trump for years and leading a high-profile investigation into former President Donald Trump, plans on leaving office later this year.

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, a Democrat, told the New Yorker that he will not seek reelection and plans on retiring on Dec. 31. He's only 66 but the job has gotten to him--"too much pressure," he says.

He now has Trump's tax returns following the Supreme Court’s rejection of Trump's effort to keep the documents shielded. So what's the problem? Perhaps he realizes he's in the wrong political party and working for a corrupt New York government.

President Trump's Tax Returns

New York's attorney general, Congress and Democrats have been going "bananas" over the Release of President Trump's tax returns. The Supreme Court has this case in front of them at this time. They will decide if President Trump must turn over eight years of tax returns and other financial records to Democratic-led House committees and New York City prosecutors.

Presidential Tax Returns

Individual income tax returns — including those of public figures — are private information, protected by law from unauthorized disclosure. Indeed, the Internal Revenue Service is barred from releasing any taxpayer information whatsoever, except to authorized agencies and individuals.

Like all other citizens, U.S. presidents enjoy this protection of their privacy. In 1974, Richard Nixon voluntarily release his return. Now most presidents and some vice presidents as well as candidates have chosen to release their returns publicly. The exception was Gerald Ford.

President Trump can release them; he doesn't want to. That should be the end of the story. But Democrats are pitbulls.

I received this from the the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee:

Democrats will have to wait on Trump's Tax rerurns

Lawsuit demanding Trump’s tax returns placed on indefinite hold

Almost immediately after Democrats took control of Congress following the 2018 elections, a subpoena was issued demanding President Donald Trump’s tax returns. When that subpoena was defied by the Treasury Department, House Democrats filed a lawsuit to try and enforce it via the courts.

The House Ways and Means chair sued for six years of President Trump's tax returns. The suit named the Treasury Department, the IRS, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig as defendants.

Well, guess what--

Trump Sues over Tax Returns

Trump Sues Manhattan DA Over Tax Return Subpoena

Democrats are hell bent on "getting" President Trump.

Where do they have the right to obtain this information, going back eight years no less? Isn't this protected information?

"Donald Trump sued Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. after the DA subpoenaed eight years of the president’s tax returns in a probe to determine whether or not the Trump Organization falsified financial records. In response to the subpoenas issued by the New York County District Attorney, we have filed a lawsuit this morning in federal court on behalf of the President in order to address the significant constitutional issues at stake in this case,” Trump attorney Jay Sekulow said in a statement."

They are "fishing" hoping to find something illegal.
