De Blasio shuts down Staten Island bar - Sends in Sheriff

Mac’s Public House on Staten Island was shut down by NYC Sheriff’s tonight after it defied Governor Cuomo’s rules and declared the bar "Autonomous Zone".

In recent days, the bar owner announced that everything will be free and they will be accepting donations.

A crowd of people gathered to protest outside.

According to Scott LoBaido the owner was also charged with a 5,000 fine. Five officers from the Sherrif’s office stood outside Mac’s Public House as Danny Presti was taken away in handcuffs by sheriffs at 7:15 p.m. He and Keith McAlarney own the Grant City tavern.

Rumble on the Brooklyn Bridge

"Several New York City police officers were attacked and injured Wednesday as pro-police and anti-police protesters clashed on the Brooklyn Bridge, police said.

The confrontation happened hours before New York Mayor Bill de Blasio signed into law a series of police accountability measures inspired by the killings of George Floyd, Eric Garner and other Black people.

At least four officers were hurt, including Chief of Department Terence Monahan, and 37 people were arrested, police said.

It was not clear how many protesters were injured. Associated Press witnessed several people getting roughed up by police, including a woman who ended up on the pavement with an officer pulling on her hair.

Surveillance video posted on social media by the police department showed a man on the bridge’s pedestrian walkway rushing toward a group of officers and reaching over a fence to smack one of them in the head with a metal pipe." [The Sun]

Lake Worth 2nd Public Hearing on 2020 Budget

For a little trivia, the budget overseen by  Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City is the largest municipal budget in the U.S. at over $70 billion a year.

But, in spite of New York City's tremendous budget and all their problems, on Tuesday night, the city commission will have its 2nd Public Hearing to Adopt the 2019/2020 Budget. We, here in Lake Worth, consider our budget substantial for a city with 37,000 people. The commission will be passing a total budget of $167,632,711.

On September 12, the commission passed the budget on the First Reading with Commissioners Hardy and Maxwell dissenting. Commissioner Hardy's objection was the fact he did not receive a line itemed budget. If you notice in the graphic above, the city provided little information or detail in their summary to the taxpayer.

The total millage rate is 10.0626 mills which is 8.27% (another thing the city failed to tell you in their published Budget Summary) more than last year.
