Herridge is one of the finest investigative journalists of her generation because she did the job the old-fashioned way: cultivated sources, verified facts, exposed uncomfortable truths, and protected the people who trusted her.

Now the courts are fining her $800 a day, with efforts to raise it to $5,000 a day, because she refuses to burn confidential sources.The victim is not merely Catherine Herridge. The victim is every future whistleblower who may now decide that speaking the truth simply carries too great a personal risk.
