Lake Worth Alumni Association Luncheon

We gathered at Atlantis Country Club yesterday for our bi-annual luncheon. The distinguished Lake Worth high School Chorus sang three numbers for the group taught by John Weatherspoon who is in charge of vocal and choral performing arts.

Total assets are $806,474 which includes the endowments and cash of around $50,000. The Foundation gave out about $129,000 in scholarships last year to needy kids to use towards their college education.

And I was the lucky member there--I won the 50/50 raffle!

As Linda Pyle Cothes said on her Facebook page, "This morning, I had breakfast with a room full of people from my high school that graduated from the 1940s to the early 2000s. A room full of people that bowed their head for the benediction and STOOD with their hands over their hearts for the Pledge of Allegiance. It was AWESOME."

The alumni breakfast always meets at the Atlantis Country Club twice a year. This is a time to get together with friends and those involved in Dollars for Scholars. Doris Dorsey is chair of the affair.

Dollars for Scholars presented its balance sheet and it has $813,754.98 in the various accounts and scholarship  funds. The Alumni Association Dollars for Scholars has awarded $1 million in scholarships to worthy and needy students since 1999.

Party Time at John Prince Park

Lake Worth High School

will be celebrating its 95th anniversary and its first graduating class of 1922.

The party will be held at John Prince Park Center Pavilion and is opened to the public...Admission is free.

There will be three bands, barbecue dinners, soft drinks and water all for a $15 donation that will benefit Dollars for Scholars and the Alumni Association. For further information, please call John Harvey, 561-502-1156.
