‘We knocked out ... the drugs coming in by water, and we are going to start now hitting land with regard with the cartels,’ the U.S. president said.

President Donald Trump announced in an interview aired Jan. 8 that the United States will begin launching strikes on the cartels in Mexico.

“We knocked out 97 percent of the drugs coming in by water, and we are going to start now hitting land with regard with the cartels,” Trump told Fox News.

“The cartels are running Mexico,” Trump said. “It’s very sad to watch and see what’s happened to that country.”

The announcement comes just five days after Trump ordered an operation to remove Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to the United States to face criminal charges, including narco-terrorism. [The Epoch Times]

They’re running Mexico. And I’ve asked her numerous times, would you like us to take out the cartels? ‘No, no no, Mr. President, no no, no, please.’ So, we have to do something, because we lost— the real number is 300,000 people, in my opinion.”

A chilling revelation from the US Justice Department has exposed how one of Mexico's most notorious drug cartels infiltrated surveillance systems to hunt down and eliminate FBI informants in Mexico City.

According to The Mirror, the Sinaloa Cartel, formerly led by notorious drug lord El Chapo, employed a sophisticated hacker who gained unauthorized access to Mexico City's camera systems and phone records to track both FBI informants and officials.

The discovery came to light through a Justice Department audit titled "Audit of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Efforts to Mitigate the Effects of Ubiquitous Technical Surveillance."

An internal memo obtained by the New York Post titled “Officer Safety Alert” warned the cartels were preparing to use drones loaded with explosives for attacks on Border Patrol agents.

“On February 1, 2025, the El Paso Sector Intelligence and Operations Center (EPT-IOC) received information advising that Mexican cartel leaders have authorized the deployment of drones equipped with explosives to be used against US Border Patrol agents and US military personnel currently working along the border with Mexico,” the internal Border Patrol memo stated.
