Bureau of Labor Statistics releases data

US Economy Created 119,000 New Jobs in September, Topping Market Estimates

The latest nonfarm payrolls report is the first monthly jobs data since August

“As a result, the establishment survey collection rate (80.2 percent) for this initial release of September 2025 data is higher than usual,” the BLS stated.

Health care led payroll gains, adding 43,000 jobs in September, and was followed by food services and drinking places (37,000) and social assistance (14,000), according to the Nov. 20 report.

Federal government employment maintained its downward trend, sliding by 3,000 jobs. In total, federal payrolls are down by 97,000 jobs this year.

Wage growth was mixed in September, with average hourly earnings rising by 0.2 percent and remaining unchanged year over year at 3.8 percent, according to the BLS report.

The labor force participation rate edged up to 62.4 percent, with average weekly hours remaining flat at 34.2. Full-time employment perked up in September, surging by 673,000. Conversely, part-time work in September declined by 573,000.

Stocks rocketed following the September jobs report. The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average and the tech-driven Nasdaq Composite Index surged by about 400 points. The broader S&P 500 climbed by almost 100 points, or 1.5 percent.

The government shutdown—the longest on record—prevented federal agencies from collecting and reporting key economic data, including the employment situation.

Senator Ed Markey blatantly discriminates

Democrat Senator Puts Out Anti-White, Anti-Male Job Listing

Democrat Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey on Wednesday posted a job listing on X for his Boston office, specifically encouraging “BIPOC, LGBTQ+, working class, and other underrepresented candidates” to apply.

Democrats over the years have consistently advocated for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, expanding into sectors like business — most notably progressing federally under the Biden-Harris administration.

In a post on X, the Democrat senator openly called for specific societal groups to apply for his office’s fall 2025 internship, notably leaving out any advocacy for white or male applicants.

“I’m hiring self-motivated and eager interns for fall 2025 in my Boston office. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, working class, and other underrepresented candidates with Massachusetts ties are encouraged to apply. Applications due Friday, August 8th,” Markey wrote.

Sen. Markey, who obviously has no sense, legally or common, can expect a discrimintion lawsuit. But he's a Democrat. Massachussets is so screwed up.

Under the laws enforced by EEOC, it is illegal to discriminate against someone (applicant or employee) because of that person's race, color, religion, sex (including transgender status, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.

Jack Smith officials fired

DOJ Fires Officials Who Worked on Jack Smith’s Team

The acting attorney general does not trust the officials to ’to assist in faithfully implementing the President’s agenda,' a spokesperson said.

The acting head of the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Jan. 27 fired officials who worked on former special counsel Jack Smith’s team, a department spokesperson said.

“Today, Acting Attorney General James McHenry terminated the employment of a number of DOJ officials who played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump,” a DOJ spokesperson told media outlets in a statement.

“In light of their actions, the Acting Attorney General does not trust these officials to assist in faithfully implementing the President’s agenda.”

“[The firings are] consistent with the mission of ending the weaponization of government,” the spokesperson said.

New York Governor to give Illegals American jobs

NY Gov. Hochul Fast-Tracks Proposal To Allow Illegal Immigrants to Take American Jobs

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York is implementing measures to make it easier for undocumented immigrants, a/k/a ILLEGALS, to find employment.

This is not the first time she has taken such action, but her latest efforts are more extensive.

Undocumented immigrants in New York already receive benefits like free housing, meals, and debit cards.

Now they will be allowed to compete with American citizens for jobs. According to Townhall reports, the next step in this process involves providing additional benefits to these individuals.

Apple, Inc. got caught using illegal aliens

Apple Inc (AAPL.O) will pay $25 million to settle claims by the U.S. Department of Justice

the company illegally favored immigrant workers over U.S. citizen and green card holders for certain jobs, the agency said on Thursday.

The Justice Department in a statement said Apple did not recruit U.S. citizens or permanent residents for jobs that were eligible for a federal program allowing employers to sponsor immigrant workers for green cards, in violation of a federal law that bars discrimination based on citizenship.

The settlement is the largest ever for the Justice Department involving claims of discrimination based on citizenship, the agency said. It requires Apple to pay $6.75 million in civil penalties and $18.25 million to an unspecified number of affected workers.

Apple in a statement said it had "unintentionally not been following the DOJ standard."

“We have implemented a robust remediation plan to comply with the requirements of various government agencies as we continue to hire American workers and grow in the U.S.," the company said.

Dems' spending bill raising eyebrows – and alarm – for Americans

The American IRS has a job posting for prospective special agents where you will need to carry a gun & be willing to kill. https://archive.ph/nLZQu#selection-1573.0-1573.65

"The job posting for 'IRS Criminal Investigation Special Agent' represents exactly what we’ve feared from this increasingly tyrannical federal government. As Andy Ngo reported: 'The American IRS has a job posting for prospective special agents where you will need to carry a gun & be willing to kill.'"

The report noted that U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., said, "87,000 IRS agents will be hired with $80 billion taxpayer dollars when the Senate Reconciliation bill passes this weekend. And they’re buying more guns & ammo too. Lower to middle income Americans & small businesses will be the primary targets of Democrat’s new IRS force.

President Trump keeps on winning

We can't talk about President Trump's achievements enough.  Here is another record breaker--

Job Openings Hit Record High of 7.3 Million in December

“The number of job openings hit a record high of 7.3 million in December, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Tuesday in a sign of the labor market’s strength,” Joseph Lawler reports in the Washington Examiner.

“The construction industry recorded 382,000 new posts, far more than ever before . . . In the past three months, the economy has added an average of 241,000 net new jobs a month, more than twice as much as needed to keep up with population growth and keep unemployment trending down.”

What do you say about that, obstructionists? Trump just keeps on winning.

Message from Governor Rick Scott on Florida Job Creation

Yesterday morning, I was proud to announce that we have created nearly 20,000 jobs in Florida last month alone. That means that since December 2010, we have created over 1.5 million new Florida jobs.

New jobs don’t just represent a number for our state. They represent opportunities for families, new chances for workers, and more money in the pockets of Floridians.

It’s also proof that this type of change certainly isn’t coming from Washington. Florida has outpaced the nation in job growth 73 of the past 74 months. That’s because while we work together to move forward, career politicians in Washington cling to their old ways. While we have cut taxes and reduced burdensome regulations, Washington continuously makes it harder for businesses to thrive.

That’s why we must bring Florida’s success to the U.S. Senate. Our state has succeeded by prioritizing families and small businesses above special interests, and I will make sure Washington does too.

Last month, nearly 20,000 new jobs were created so Floridians can find the opportunities they need to provide for themselves and their families. Let’s make sure that continues.

Sincerely,
Rick Scott

We need E-Verify

Economist George Borjas of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government estimates that illegal immigration reduces native-born workers’ wages by between $99 billion and $118 billion a year. The economic gains from illegal immigration, he finds, flow mainly to those who employ illegal workers.

Isn't it high time that we had E-Verify as a state and federal law?  Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas mandate E-Verify for public employees and state contractors--we need E-verify for ALL workers. [LawLogix]

Great news on E-verify - Moving ahead in Florida

From Numbers USA

Once every twenty years, Florida's Constitution provides for the creation of a revision commission for the purpose of reviewing Florida's Constitution. The Constitution Revision Commission will hold public hearings across the state over the next 12 months to identify issues and evaluate possible changes to the Constitution. One such change being promoted by the group Floridians For E-Verify Now is a constitutional amendment requiring employers to use E-Verify to check the workplace eligibility of new hires.

>See the E-Verify constitutional amendment at www.floridiansforeverifynow.org

E-Verify is a proven federal system for reserving American jobs for citizens and legal residents. For years, Florida activists tried to persuade the state legislature to protect American workers by making E-Verify usage mandatory but were denied time and again. Now the Constitution Revision Commission provides an alternative vehicle for adopting E-Verify. Any amendment proposed by the Commission will be placed on the 2018 General Election ballot, and would need 60 percent approval by voters to be added to the Constitution.

You can take action by attending upcoming Constitutional Revision Commission's public hearings and voicing support for the proposed E-Verify Amendment. Below are the first hearings. We will notify you about subsequent ones.

Friday, April 7 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Florida Atlantic University (FAU)
FAU Stadium, Acura Club (third floor)
777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, Fla. 33431
*Complimentary parking will be available. Doors open to the public beginning at 8:00 a.m.

You also can take action by participating in two upcoming efforts by Floridians For E-Verify Now. They are developing an online petition you can sign asking the Commission to place the E-Verify Amendment on the 2018 Ballot. This petition will be given to the commission to demonstrate state wide support for our proposed amendment. The group also is mounting a postcard campaign to the Commission for the same purpose.

Monitor www.floridiansforeverifynow.org for postings on these efforts. They will be ready soon.

City Manager Michael Bornstein up for Review

Tonight will probably be another Trio "love fest" for City Manager Bornstein. The City Manager is up for a review tonight...it is the last item under New Business. That means we will probably see his buddy Lantana mayor Dave Stewart in the chamber cheering him on.

The review must have slipped the mind of the commission so they got a little nudge.  If the CM wants a raise, they had better put the Review on the Agenda to get it into the new budget. His original employment contract commenced on April 16, 2012 for three years.

In April of 2015, City Manager, Michael Bornstein was given a new contract for an additional five years that included a $10,000 raise and an extra week vacation for a total of 4 weeks. He now makes $145,000 a year. He gets $500 a month for his car allowance. The biggest surprise of all was when Scott Maxwell suggested an unheard of five year contract and then urged the entire commission to vote five years in solidarity. The vote was 3/2 with McVoy and Maier dissenting.

Lake Worth Union Vote now tallied

Comment Up

THE RESULTS ARE IN FROM TODAY'S CONTRACT RATIFICATION VOTE:
65 - NO
5 - YES

The union met today at the Osborne Center. Our city employees who are members got to vote on whether or not they wanted to accept the city’s terms. As the vote was ‘no,’ it will probably go to arbitration or start over?

City Manager Michael Bornstein - Another Love Fest

Comment Up

City Manager, Michael Bornstein was just given a $10,000 raise and an extra week vacation for a total of 4 weeks. He now will make $145,000 a year. He gets $500 a month for his car allowance but lives 3 blocks away. There was a two year contract on the table. The biggest surprise of all was when Scott Maxwell suggested a five year contract and then urged the entire commission to vote in solidarity. The vote was 3/2 with McVoy and Maier dissenting.

Commissioner Amoroso had to personally attack Commissioner Maier by saying that he had a "disconnect in his thinking" when he mentioned that staff had not had raises in years and he was uncomfortable about additional funding for Mr. Bornstein. I know. Truth hurts; it always does with this "visionary." The mayor's advice of being "kind to one another" sure did not resonate.

After listening to the audio, one is lead to believe that the city manager has done wonders with our city over the past three years and that this commission is the real catalyst behind all this achievement in Lake Worth. They compared the job to past commissions...no comparison they say...the past was terrible and they are the movers and shakers having done incredible things to bring us into the 21st Century.  I still say, what are they?

The visionaries are still in love with Michael Bornstein.  And why not.  He tells them what he is going to do based on what the majority has told him to achieve...they listen...his staff implements and meetings are short. Of course, the bond and the heights vote, two extremely dear issues to this majority, failed at the polls in spite of the city manager and administration being heavily involved even with tax dollars to get both passed.

But he's a nice guy they tell us.

Michael Bornstein Employment Contract

Comment Up

No review; just a contract.

Back in May 2013, there was some sort of a review by the Commission on Michael Bornstein.  Actually it was no review at all but a cheerleading session for the manager this commission hired after they fired Susan Stanton on December 6, 2011. Stanton was a manager who was publicly and extensively reviewed, the first one in my memory with Scott Maxwell having a thick bound book (fuel for his fire) with everything imaginable about Ms. Stanton in order to publicly humiliate her.

As I said back then, "We never found out one thing about Bornstein's first year other than we were told that the employees like him, the public likes him (one referring to the review as a "roast") and so does the commission. Commissioner Amoroso even jokingly said, 'He is sexy'. We were not told how any commissioner rated him or his own self-evaluation during Unfinished Business. Perhaps he revealed that at the end of the meeting. All we knew was, he's a likeable fella because that's what they told us."

What we see--crime, slum, blight, and the lack of transparency, short meetings and decisions being made out of the knowledge of the public. We have found out that he has no stomach for lawsuits as most all have been settled for unimaginable amounts of money. He purged all of Stanton's city manager weekly reports and he has given none. But then, as the mayor said back then, it is a "trickle down" management style. Who is at the top of the organizational chart that directs the style?  The Commission and they don't want the public to know anything. Who is above the Commission?  Well, it's the public but you know about our importance.

Since that first year, we have seen Mr. Bornstein in action.  He's low-key but as political as they come--going after residents in this city, even from the dais, and throwing them to the wolves. He even went after God Almighty--the Common Ground Church. He still gives no manager reports--nothing has changed. He meets with commissioners one-on-one and clues them in. City Hall is not the least bit transparent and it doesn't get better. One thing that HAS changed--he doesn't wear his bow tie as often as he did in the beginning.

Now Mr. Bornstein's contract expires on April 16 and is up for a two year renewal. He makes $135,000 a year, gets a $500 a month car allowance and we have been told that he lives only a few blocks away at The Lucerne Condos; the City contributes 10% of his base salary into a retirement account; he gets three weeks vacation and five months severance as well as life insurance.

I guess tonight is the night for another love fest.

Letters to the Editor - Politics of Envy

Comment Up

As this letter to the editor states the case so succinctly, it is worth re-printing.

Letters to the Editor
Palm Beach Post
January 4, 2015

Politics of envy benefits no one

On Thursday, The Post ran a letter “‘Right-to-work’ is right to be ripped off.”

The writer preaches a politics of envy when she speaks about how much the Walton family earns. She fails to mention that Walmart provides employment for 1.4 million Americans. The income of the Walton family is hardly relevant to right-to-work laws, but the writer uses this opportunity to preach wealth redistribution.
This Marxist approach is intended to deny to the successful the consequences of their efforts and their choices, while shielding the unsuccessful from the consequences of their actions. In real life, this denial of human freedom works nowhere.

The writer quotes a statistic claiming workers in right-to-work states earn less; however, a quick search online reveals that right-to-work states create more jobs, enjoy lower poverty rates, experience more technology development, realize more personal-income growth — and have increased the number of people covered by employment-based private health insurance.

Debt and Taxes

Some Trivia:
It used to be death and taxes, two things we were assured about.  Now we can add debt to the mix--

More Americans than ever say they owe more money than they did last year, and they’re more pessimistic about their future interest rates according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. It found that 34% of American Adults now owe more money than they did last year, up from 32% last month  and the highest finding in regular surveying since April 2009.

The latest annual inflation rate for the United States is 2.1% through the 12 months ended May 2014. We, as consumers, have felt inflation, which seems much higher, just in the normal staples that we need for daily basic sustenance. So, we are more in debt and the city and the county are raising taxes. If Lake Worth's bond referendum is approved by the voters, we will be the highest taxed city in Palm Beach County in a city occupied by residents making less than the national average.

The unemployment rate in Palm Beach County is at a low of 5.9% through May. People are finding jobs that aren't paying what they used to pay or in a totally different field. As you can see from the stats below, the majority of people in Lake Worth make far less than those who are calling the shots--staff at city hall and our elected representatives, those who want to put you in more debt for over thirty years.

Yes, we need some of our infrastructure repaired and/or replaced but what we don't need is a $131 million debt. It's the all or nothing approach we find so impossible to accept.
