Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed the 2026 Florida Farm Bill

an omnibus measure affecting agriculture, land use, consumer protection and public safety regulations

The legislation, SB 290, includes provisions preempting local restrictions on gas-powered equipment, expanding agricultural support programs and tightening land-use oversight, while also creating new criminal penalties and regulatory requirements across multiple sectors.

The bill additionally establishes new initiatives aimed at supporting the agricultural industry, including a veterinary loan repayment program and a native seed research program, while making existing food distribution efforts permanent.

The measure also includes provisions aimed at preserving agricultural land and shaping rural development. Senate staff analyses say it requires additional review for certain proposed development on ecologically significant parcels in small municipalities, requires state or local review of whether some surplused lands are suitable for bona fide agricultural use, and restricts the transfer of future development rights for some of those lands.

“The Free State of Florida just delivered another major win for the people who feed our state and our nation,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson.

Rule giving union rights to foreign farm workers while denying them to Americans is scrapped

Under President Joe Biden, the U.S. Department of Labor proposed a rule last year which gave collective bargaining rights to foreign farmer workers admitted under H-2A visas despite American farmworkers not enjoying those same rights.

Yet in a move that is sure to leave Biden seething, President Donald Trump's administration has just deleted that provision.

According to Breitbart, the change was announced late last month in a statement which was put up on the Labor Department's website.

"The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division today announced it is suspending enforcement of the Biden Administration’s burdensome 2024 farmworker rule," the statement explained.

Remember the Biden years? Feels like a bad dream now, doesn’t it? For four years, it seemed like the administration woke up every morning asking, “How can we make life harder for actual Americans today?”

We had job-killing vaccine mandates shoved down our throats, an economy crippled by runaway inflation that evaporated savings, and crazy environmental plans that threatened our energy independence and way of life. It was a masterclass in mismanagement.

And while hardworking Americans were getting squeezed, where was the focus? Sending billions overseas, rolling out the red carpet for illegal immigrants, and generally bending over backwards for everyone except the citizens paying the bills.

A minor issue, right? Something neighbors usually sort out over coffee. But not for Biden’s Justice Department and USDA. Oh no. They conducted a survey, accused the Maudes of “theft of government property,” and brought the hammer down.

We’re talking federal criminal charges. Kristi Noem, governor at the time, faught for them and she was ignored.

Former President Donald Trump held a roundtable Monday in Smithton, Pennsylvania, to discuss some of the pressing issues the U.S. is facing, and how the U.S. can better protect America's food supply from China.

"We made a deal with China, was one of my best that I made, and I made a lot of good deals…but we had a specific deal with China, where they were gonna buy $50 billion worth of farm product, and it's interesting how we got there, because when the negotiation was going on, and it was a nasty negotiation, and I said to the farmers, 'just stick with me, because we're gonna do it,'" Trump said.

Trump pointed out no one had negotiated for farmers before he became president, and he managed to bump up China's agreement to $50 billion.

"The problem is, big problem, is now they don't enforce it. I enforced it. Every single week I go into the office and say 'how's China doing?' because you have to live up to that commitment…and they were doing good, 'cause they knew I was watching," Trump said.

The state’s own rules require advance notice, reasonable time frames for inspections, and a showing of credentials, none of which occurred here.

Instead, the state unlawfully obtained a search warrant, based on materially false statements in an affidavit by a high-ranking state official in an agency with a known grievance against independent farmers like Amos, and, after the raid and finding no evidence of wrongdoing, then illegally ordered detained every item of food in one of Amos Miller’s coolers, including buffalo meat not even subject to federal regulation.

Federal judge halts USDA program that bans white farmers saying lawsuit against it could be successful

A federal judge on Thursday halted the USDA loan forgiveness program exclusive to farmers of color, saying that a group of white farmers who have sued for discrimination over being banned from the government program have a good chance of winning.

I can't even believe a president of the United States would make an obviously discriminatory policy such as this. It shows how low we have gone in this country under Democrats where everyone should be treated equally and fairly.

"The Biden administration is radically undermining bedrock principles of equality under the law," said the farmers' attorney.

However, the only farmers eligible for these benefits are those who are considered “socially disadvantaged,” which the law defines as a “group whose members have been subjected to racial or ethnic prejudice because of their identity as members of a group without regard to their individual qualities."
