Trump announced more than $243.5 billion in economic deals between the United States and Qatar

including a $96 billion agreement for Boeing to sell up to 210 jets to Qatar Airways

The White House stated that the agreement with Qatar is projected to generate at least $1.2 trillion in economic exchange between both countries.

The deal was signed amid Trump’s four-day trip to the Middle East. The president was joined by Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for the signing ceremony in Doha.

Trump had signed multiple agreements with Saudi Arabia the day prior.

Ortberg signed the deal with Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer while standing next to Trump and Tamim. The president said Ortberg told him that it’s “the largest order of jets in the history of Boeing.”

NASA recently launched a rescue mission using SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket to bring two astronauts—Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams—back to Earth.

These astronauts have been stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) since December, thanks to Boeing’s disastrous management of their Starliner spacecraft. What was originally meant to be a week-long mission has now stretched into an eight-month ordeal due to Boeing’s continued incompetence.

Things Just Got Worse For Boeing

Boeing was using under-qualified workers to build their rockets for space flight, causing quality control issues, a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) report released Thursday found.

NASA audited the Boeing Space Launch System (SLS) project, which has been in development since 2014 and is scheduled to make a flight to the moon in 2028, in order to find out what has caused delays and increased costs, according to the report.

The NASA Office of Inspector General alleged Boeing had a lack of “trained and experienced aerospace workers” working on the SLS, with NASA calling it a major factor in delaying construction.

Efforts by Boeing to provide in-house training have been inadequate, and “significant quality control deficiencies” persisted at the Michoud Assembly Facility, according to the report.

Boeing’s Starliner space exploration vehicle that received 4.2 billion from the government experienced helium leaks and reaction control system malfunctions in June, which stranded two NASA astronauts on the International Space Station. And they have had a few fatal plane crashes.

In 2018, Boeing signed a contract with the federal government to build a pair of aircraft that would serve as Air Force One.

Yet as Business Insider reported on Friday, that deal has turned into a financial disaster for the aerospace giant. Company has lost roughly $2 billion since taking on Air Force One project.

Boeing's third-quarter earnings report was released last week, and it showed that the company lost $482 million on construction of the two 747-200B jumbo jets.

No one expected Bidenomics! The company attributed the losses to higher-than-estimated manufacturing costs, engineering changes, labor instability, and negotiations with suppliers. And they had a fixed contract under Trump. The company has pushed the delivery date of the two jets back by another two years to 2026.
