Lake Worth High Culinary students build something special

An edible Barbie Dreamhouse built entirely by Lake Worth High School students

And they are raising thousands of dollars for a local nonprofit

Students in Lake Worth High School’s Culinary Arts Choice program spent months transforming sugar, flour, and creativity into a three-foot-tall, three-foot-wide Barbie Dreamhouse that is almost entirely edible.

The project began back in August, with students partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County to create a one-of-a-kind centerpiece for a charitable cause.

“This is isomalt, sugar — anything sugary,” said culinary instructor Renee Engelhardt, describing the ingredients used to bring the house to life.

The Dreamhouse weighs about 25 pounds and was built using roughly 20 pounds of flour, 30 cups of sugar, and two pounds of isomalt. The structure itself is made of sugar cookies, while the intricate details were crafted using fondant and edible paints. The only non-edible elements are a few hidden wooden supports designed to hold the weight of the three-story creation.

For students, the project was both challenging and rewarding.

“I am really glad that this came to life,” said culinary student Jason Rodriguez. “This started as an idea, and seeing it built is really special.”

Paddle with Purpose

More than 100 paddlers will journey 80 miles across the Atlantic Ocean for the 9th Annual Crossing For Cystic Fibrosis

Participants will paddle from Bimini to Lake Worth Beach to raise funds and awareness for families affected by cystic fibrosis through Piper’s Angels Foundation

Over 100 paddlers will cross the Atlantic Ocean overnight on June 22, from Bimini, Bahamas to Lake Worth Beach, Florida, to support Crossing For Cystic Fibrosis through a non-profit, Piper’s Angels Foundation. In celebration of its 12th anniversary, The Crossing supports the families of those suffering from cystic fibrosis.

New this year, for those looking for a shorter paddle, The Crossing has introduced the 32-mile Rendezvous Race, in which paddlers meet at sunrise in the ocean to paddle to the Lake Worth Beach landing spot.

This “sprint” style Crossing is open to solo paddlers, 2-person, and 4-person relay teams. The Rendezvous Race is limited to 50 registered paddlers and the deadline is June 1. Paddlers can register HERE.

The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis’ Title Sponsor is Celsius Live Fit. Lake Worth Beach icon Benny’s on the Beach is serving as a Sponsor with a VIP tent set upon the beach for arriving paddlers.

Kamala Harris decides not to show her human side and come together for a charitable cause

Cardinal Dolan jokes about what Harris might share in common with last person to blow off the Al Smith dinner

Vice President Kamala Harris has decided to blow off the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner hosted by the Archdiocese of New York

She will be the first Democratic nominee in 40 years not to attend the annual event, which has raised millions of dollars to help the city's most vulnerable women and children — including kids with special needs, foster children, and low-income single mothers.

Damn, we all thought she cared about kids and Moms.

President Donald Trump indicated he will not similarly leave the archdiocese and related charities in the lurch, noting Harris' decision was "sad, but not surprising."

"You know, she speaks very much about the high ideals and how it's good to get away from division, and come together in unity, and all. That's what the Al Smith Dinner is all about," continued the cardinal. "We haven't given up yet. We're not used to this. We don't know how to handle it.

Cardinal Dolan intimated that the election may ultimately prove this decision to be common to losers.

Read about it...

If she were really smart (well, her advisers mught be), she should reverse her decision to skip the biggest Catholic-sponsored fund-raiser for the poor and the vulnerable in the country’s biggest city and not just for her own political benefit. The event is October 17, so there is plenty of time to change her mind but it should not be a poll-driven choice. It’s the right thing to do.

Mar-A-Lago Bash

Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli will perform at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club on Sunday

The appearance is at a charity gala that is raising money for injured veterans, first responders and injured dogs.

The World Series of Golf Foundation is hosting the inaugural Celebrity Invitational for the benefit of Veteran's and Heroes in Palm Beach Florida.

A-List Celebrities, Movie Stars, Producers, Actors, Musicians, and more will join forces in the love of golf to help raise money for great causes for heroes. The tournament will be broadcast live on a major TV network and will allow attendees and viewers to see some their favorite celebrities and musicians golf with a golf team as well as a designated Hero.

Hero Gala says the benefit is not political but there are liberals who are doubting the claim. They have insisted that Bocelli confirm that he will perform while also stating the singer's non-politically affiliated status. [Palm Beach Post]

Geez. He's an Italian citizen and performs across the world. They just never get off Trump's back even in his own home.

Dark side of the American Red Cross

Red Cross reprimanded hostage families: 'Think about the Palestinians'

The Red Cross has sparked outrage in Israel with how it has handled the mass kidnapping and massacre conducted by Hamas.

And it's sparked outrage with me!

Families of Israelis being held hostage by Hamas were reprimanded by representatives of the Red Cross in a meeting earlier this week, with the Red Cross telling one family they need to "think about the Palestinian side," KAN reported on Thursday night.

Roni and Simona, the parents of Doron Steinbrecher who were kidnapped by Hamas terrorists from Kfar Azza on October 7, were invited to a meeting with the Red Cross earlier this week.

Doron needs a medication she takes daily and her parents thought that the Red Cross was finally willing to transfer the medication to her, but instead they were sat down and reprimanded by representatives of the Red Cross.

Read about it...

The American Red Cross is an institution. It's one of the biggest charities in the country, raking in billions every year. After any disaster you see people sharing links all over social media, begging others to donate to the Red Cross so they can get out there and help those affected.

But the organization has a dark underbelly. Its history is full of scandal and bigotry. It flat-out refused to help during one of the biggest disasters America ever faced. In the modern era, Red Cross assistance during emergencies has been called into question time and again, by everyone from watchdog groups, to politicians, to the people they were supposed to help, to their own volunteers.

There are also serious questions about what exactly they do with donations, and why their employees steal from them all the damn time.

Food Charity in Lake Worth Beach every Saturday

Pop-up food charity relied on by thousands may be forced out of Lake Worth Beach over traffic issues

By Joe Capozzi: "NO ONE DISPUTES the positive difference Restoration Bridge International makes every Saturday morning in Lake Worth Beach by handing out free supplemental food to thousands of people in need.

Since 2017, RBI volunteers have loaded more than 18 million pounds of produce and dry goods into the open trunks of vehicles in the parking lot of Church by the Glades at 127 South M St. every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Many cars arrive as early as 5 a.m."

The Jewell Neighborhood is complaining about the traffic and noise.

"Nearly a quarter of Lake Worth Beach’s population lives in poverty, according to the U.S. Census, a rate among the highest for coastal communities in Palm Beach County.

Many residents in and around Lake Worth Beach not living in poverty are still struggling to make ends meet and are part of an economic classification known as ALICE, an acronym for asset limited, income constrained employed, according to the United Way of Palm Beach County."

Read the article and see the photos

Lake Worth Beach has encouraged the poor over the last decade or two as well as illegal immigrants to our city. Now we are known as a poverty city in Palm Beach County. We know what is responsible for this deprivation in the United States today...Bidenomics.

"Woke" Salvation Army has a False Opinion on Whites and Racism

Salvation Army Issues Insane Demand For Certain Donors

If you're White, you suck in the eyes of the Salvation Army. When I see that red kettle this year, it will be very easy to just walk by.

"The charity has taken to asking all of its white donors to take more steps than just give their spare change to the iconic red kettles when they visit their local shopping centers this time around. Leaders of the charity have demanded that whites need to apologize for their inherent racism.

The release makes the claim that all of Christianity is inherently racist and makes the demand for all white Christians to repent and give “a sincere apology” to black people for being “antagonistic… to black people or the culture, values and interests of the black community.”

Read about the insanity You have to wonder where all these racist nut jobs come from.

Nothing redeeming about Joe

Biden Cancer Charity Spent Zero on Cancer Research, Millions on Executives' Salaries

Actually, I am surprised about this. Biden has now fallen to the bottom of the barrel of rotten apples.

During the campaign, he used his dead son as well as the tragedy of his first wife's death in campaign ads to garner votes. Really sick. So why should I be surprised?

President Trump makes surprise visit

Unbeknown to reporters and a surprise to 800 attendees, President Trump made an appearance: at an elegant fundraising gala being held for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property and headlined by musician David Foster.

Our city attorney, Glen Torcivia, was at the event and took the following photos.  He said he was approximately 10 feet from our president.

Lying Hillary and the Clinton Foundation

Click to read

"The tax records, which were filed with the IRS in November of 2015, show that the Clinton Foundation spent far more on overhead expenses like travel ($7.9 million) than it did on charitable grants in 2014. The group also spent more on rent and office supplies (a total of $6.6 million) than it did on charitable grants. The Clinton Foundation’s IRS forms show that even its depreciation expense ($5.3 million) — an accounting classification that takes into account the wear and tear of an organization’s assets — exceeded the tax-exempt organization’s charitable grant outlays.

Everyone knows Hillary Clinton is a liar and last night she told a whopper when she claimed 90% of the money donated to the Clinton Foundation is paid out in charity. Trump couldn't get another word in to dispute it. The truth is only 5.7% of their "massive budget" in 2014 went to charitable grants, "the rest went to salaries and employee benefits, fundraising and 'other expenses.'"

Father Rasmus' invocation fell on deaf ears with Trio

Comment Up
Rev. Paul A. Rasmus
 St. Andrews Episcopal Church
Father Paul is a graduate of the School of Theology at the University of the South and has been serving as a priest in the Diocese of Southeast Florida since 1977.  This is the sixth year that Father Paul has been at St. Andrew's.  He is Chair of the Diocesan Commission on Ministry and is a member of the Diocesan Task Force for Addiction and Recovery.

On Tuesday night at the Lake Worth City Commission meeting, Father Rasmus gave the invocation. He was invited to speak by Commissioner McVoy. Unfortunately, a trio of commissioners as well as many residents in the chamber did not listen. They had more fun taking their political pot shots,  condemning McVoy and Maier for not answering an e-mail invitation to walk with some of the downtown merchants. Some residents hit hard on the homeless implying they all have a choice and can be just like they are even bringing in a few success stories. The Mayor demanded that residents speak to the Resolution on opening and closing hours of our public spaces, not the Ordinance, even though one is not effective without the other.

Creator of the universe sent down upon us as citizens and office holders of this community of Lake Worth, the spirit of wisdom, charity, compassion and justice, so that with steadfast purpose, we may faithfully work with one another to advance the well-being of all people. Give us grateful hearts and ever remind us of the many blessings we receive on a daily basis. All this we ask in Your most holy name. Amen.
Father Rasmus

Marco Rubio on the Homeless

A little over a year ago, Marco Rubio congratulated former homeless men and women who were graduating from life changing programs provided by the Miami Rescue Mission and Broward Outreach Centers.

All people need encouragement and need to be pointed in the right direction. To simply say that "most of these people don't want help" is not solving anything and it's a cop out to the truth.
