Ballroom will proceed
Supreme Court lets Trump’s White House ballroom project press on as legal fight simmers
The Supreme Court voted 5-4 to let President Trump continue building his privately funded White House ballroom despite fierce legal opposition, keeping construction on track while the case plays out in lower courts.President Donald Trump’s ambitious White House ballroom is moving forward after the nation’s highest court handed his administration a narrow but crucial win. In a contentious split decision, the Supreme Court allowed construction to proceed even as preservationists and liberal justices raised alarms about the project’s legality and process.
The emergency order, issued by a 5-4 majority, replaced an earlier temporary hold from Chief Justice John Roberts, who joined the liberal bloc in dissent.
The order comes in the middle of an intense legal fight, with lower courts previously attempting to halt the work, and preservation groups like the National Trust for Historic Preservation pushing lawsuits to stop the demolition and construction at President’s Park, home to the White House complex in Washington, D.C.
Trump, for his part, celebrated the court’s intervention. In a Truth Social post, he declared the ballroom was “totally funded by Great Patriots and Corporations and, therefore, is a Gift, At no cost to the American Taxpayer.”
He called the lawsuit against the project “baseless,” and described the planned space as a “magnificent Ballroom and Military Complex,” claiming it would be “one of the Greatest ever constructed in Washington, D.C.” Trump projected the project would be completed by summer 2028, describing it as “something that the entire Country is very proud of.”

Democrat with screw loose
Soros-backed democrat threatens to "blow up" Trump's ballroom if Democrats are allowed to regain power
Does that make any sense?
Philly DA Larry Krasner says he wants the WH Ballroom blown up:"I'm going to have a paperweight sitting on my desk. You know what that paperweight is going to be? It's going to be a piece of the ballroom after we all blow it up."As we approach the midterm elections, a good reminder of who the enemy is is to listen to what they are willing to say out loud BEFORE they regain power.

Like, and this is just an example off the top of my head, Soros-backed Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner threatening to blow up a portion of the White House
He's a democrat, so before we accuse him of making a terrorist threat, we have to wait for "independent" "fact" "checkers" to determine what he meant by that. Really? No crap.

Ballroom can proceed says Chief Justice
Supreme Court Chief Justice Removes Block on White House Ballroom Construction
The order is in place until the justice, or the Supreme Court, rules otherwise.Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts on Aug. 21 said the Trump administration can proceed with construction of a new White House ballroom.
The lower court order “is hereby stayed pending further order of The Chief Justice or of the Court,” Roberts said.
Chief Justice John Roberts on Friday allowed the White House to continue construction on President Donald Trump's $400 million ballroom project to continue for now, as the Supreme Court considers the Trump administration's emergency request to intervene in lawsuits over the project.
The temporary order comes hours before lower-court rulings would have forced a halt to aboveground construction. The brief, one-page document does not detail Roberts' reasoning or lay out a timeline for a fuller decision from the high court.
A Washington-based judge ordered work to stop because Trump didn't have congressional approval. The decision was signed by Roberts because he oversees appeals of cases filed in the capital.
The Trump administration has scored a series of victories on the high court's emergency docket, though the justices have ruled against some of the president's signature policies after fuller review.

Republican bill moves forward
Senate Republicans advance $72 billion immigration bill after scrapping White House ballroom funds
Senate Republicans voted Wednesday to move forward with a massive reconciliation package funding the Department of Homeland Security's immigration agencies, clearing a key procedural hurdle on a 53-to-46 party-line vote after weeks of intraparty friction over a controversial Justice Department fund and a billion-dollar Secret Service line item that included money for a White House ballroom renovation. The vote sets up a marathon amendment session, the dreaded "vote-a-rama", that could stretch into Thursday, with Democrats vowing to force Republicans into difficult votes on the DOJ fund and other provisions they oppose.
But the real story is what Republicans had to strip out of the bill to get here, and what remains unresolved even after the acting attorney general told Congress the disputed fund is dead.
A revised version of one section of the package, released Wednesday, dropped language that would have provided $1 billion in security funding for the Secret Service. That line item had drawn scrutiny because it included money for President Trump's planned East Wing renovation, where he intends to build a large ballroom.
The original $72 billion package, unveiled last month by Republicans on the Senate Judiciary and Homeland Security committees, funds DHS immigration agencies through fiscal year 2029. Republicans have moved it through the budget reconciliation process, which sidesteps the 60-vote threshold required to advance most legislation in the Senate.
That procedural path is the only realistic route for a Republican-only bill in a chamber where Democrats have spent months opposing funding for immigration enforcement agencies.

Drop the Lawsuit says Department of Justice
DOJ leverages Correspondents' Dinner shooting to demand preservationists drop Trump ballroom lawsuit
Hours after a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday, the Justice Department moved to turn the crisis into leverage, sending the National Trust for Historic Preservation a letter demanding it dismiss its lawsuit against President Donald Trump's planned $400 million White House ballroom by 9 a.m. Monday or face a government motion to throw the case out.Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche posted the letter on X with a blunt message: "It's time to build the ballroom." The letter, written by Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate, called the Washington Hilton, where some 2,300 guests had gathered Saturday night, "demonstrably unsafe" for events involving the president.
The move marks the sharpest escalation yet in a legal and political fight that has simmered since last fall, when Trump ordered the demolition of the White House East Wing to clear ground for a massive 90,000-square-foot ballroom and bunker complex.
The administration's argument is straightforward: the president should not have to attend large events at venues the Secret Service cannot fully secure. Saturday's shooting gave that argument fresh and visceral force.
The letter and the deadline--
Shumate's letter, reported by PBS NewsHour and the Associated Press, framed the demand in urgent terms. Writing "in light of last night's extraordinary events," Shumate stated that the Hilton's size "presents extraordinary security challenges for the Secret Service."
The ballroom project, he wrote, "will ensure the safety and security of the President for decades to come and prevent future assassination attempts on the President at the Washington Hilton."

Democrats always come up with something to bitch about and the ballroom is not costing the taxpayers a dime. All money was raised through private donors.
A federal appeals court permitted construction to proceed in April 2026, though a lawsuit from the National Trust for Historic Preservation was ongoing regarding the lack of approval for the project.

The New White House ballroom
Federal Appeals Court Just Overruled the Judge Who Tried to Stop Trump’s White House Ballroom
Judge Richard Leon blocked it Thursday night. The DC Circuit put his order on hold Friday night. And construction resumed before most people even knew it had stopped.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation filed suit in December to stop the ballroom – arguing Trump needed congressional approval before breaking ground.
The organization suing the president is legally required to seat his own Attorney General on its board.
Trump called them "a Radical Left Group of Lunatics."

Judge Blocks Ballroom
A Bush-Appointed Judge Just Blocked the White House Ballroom and Trump Had the Perfect Response
What Judge Leon Actually Said--U.S. District Judge Richard Leon – a George W. Bush appointee – ruled Tuesday that the National Trust for Historic Preservation is likely to win its case against the ballroom project, issuing an injunction that stops all above-ground construction.
His reasoning: no law gives the president authority to build at the White House without congressional approval first. "No statute comes close to giving the President the authority he claims to have," Leon wrote. Then he gave Trump 14 days before enforcement kicks in – an invitation to appeal.
The DOJ accepted before the afternoon was over, filing a notice with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
The ballroom is a 90,000-square-foot venue with Greco-Roman columns, privately funded through donations from businesses and individual donors.
The National Trust, Trump wrote, is "a Radical Left Group of Lunatics" suing him over a ballroom that is "under budget, ahead of schedule, being built at no cost to the Taxpayer, and will be the finest Building of its kind anywhere in the World."
Since January 2025, district court judges have issued hundreds of injunctions blocking Trump administration priorities – deportations, agency restructuring, birthright citizenship orders, workforce reorganization. The pattern is identical every time: a single judge blocks, the administration appeals, the Supreme Court reverses.

Judge allows Trump White House Ballroom to proceed
Federal judge tosses injunction against Trump's $400 million White House ballroom
A federal judge on Thursday denied a legal challenge seeking to block President Donald Trump's planned 90,000-square-foot White House ballroom, clearing the way for construction to continue.U.S. District Judge Richard Leon rejected the injunction sought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, dismissing the group's legal arguments as a "ragtag group of theories."
The ruling is a clean win for the administration. The project moves forward, the preservationist lawsuit stalls, and the broader regulatory approval process continues on schedule.
