DEI in California now will include two Muslim Holidays

California bill to make Muslim holidays official state days raises hard questions about school neutrality

California's State Assembly voted 64-1 to pass AB 2017, a bill that would establish two Muslim holy days, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, as official state holidays and authorize public schools to close for both.

The bill advanced to the Senate Appropriations Committee on Wednesday, carrying a provision that has drawn sharp criticism from religious liberty advocates: it would direct the State Board of Education to develop a model curriculum for classroom exercises "acknowledging and celebrating" the holidays.

The measure, authored by Assemblyman Matt Haney, a San Francisco Democrat, sailed through the Assembly with virtually no opposition. But the bill's language goes beyond calendar recognition. It opens the door for state-guided classroom activities tied to specific religious observances, a step that critics say collides with California's own longstanding neutrality rules.

AB 2017 would add Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha to California's official state holiday calendar, designating a single day of observance for each. Both holidays traditionally span three to four days, and both shift annually on the Islamic lunar calendar. The bill authorizes, but does not require, local public school boards and community colleges to shut down campuses for both days.

If neutrality means anything, it means the state does not pick winners among faiths. California chose that principle when it scrubbed Christmas and Easter from school calendars. The state cannot now build celebration curriculum for Eid and call it equity. It is preference, dressed in the language of inclusion.

Neutrality is only a principle if it applies to everyone. The moment it becomes selective, it is just politics.

Omari Hardy does not want to honor or celebrate Columbus Day

Tomorrow, September 15, the Lake Worth City Commission will be meeting on Zoom at 6pm.

Omari Hardy will attempt to be the "star" once again--

NEW BUSINESS:
All of these discussions are important but Item C is the liberal lefty Omari's sticking it to our history once again.

A. Discussion about how the Commission will fill the District 2 seat (no backup provided)
B. Discussion on how to reduce speeding on Lake and Lucerne Avenues (no backup provided)
C. Resolution stating that the City will not honor nor celebrate Columbus Day and that it will instead honor and celebrate Indigenous People's Day (Resolution will be provided by Commissioner Hardy)

Columbus Day is a U.S. holiday that commemorates the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas in 1492, and Columbus Day 2020 is on Monday, October 12. It was unofficially celebrated in a number of cities and states as early as the 18th century but did not become a federal holiday until 1934 under Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

There are now several states that do not celebrate Columbus Day and Washington, D.C's council a year ago voted to replace it with Indigenous Peoples' Day in a temporary move that it hopes to make permanent.

In 2017, after someone vandalized the Christopher Columbus statue in New York City's Central Park, the then-president and chief operating officer of the National Italian American Foundation, John M. Viola, wrote in a New York Times editorial,

"The 'tearing down of history' does not change that history. In the wake of the cultural conflict that has ripped us apart over these months, I wonder if we as a country can't find better ways to utilize our history to eradicate racism instead of inciting it. Can't the monuments and holidays born of our past be re-imagined to represent new values for our future?" [NPR]

Well, Omari wants to "tear down" Columbus Day. He loves being a radical and being divisive; it makes his day. Just leave it alone Commissioner.

California state councilmen are F-ING NUTS!

(Daily Caller) – The California Assembly discussed Thursday a bill that would replace Abraham Lincoln or George Washington’s birthday with International Socialist Workers’ Day as a paid holiday.

California Democrat Assemblyman Miguel Santiago (just proves my continued point that Democrats are all socialists and the Democrat party is the new Communist party) introduced Bill AB-3042, which would allow schools to replace Washington Day and Lincoln Day with Presidents’ Day and install an “International Workers’ Day” — conventionally known as “May Day” — as a second holiday.

If there is anyone sane left in the State of California, run fast, head east--anywhere has to be better than this nutty place.

Lake Osborne Holiday Boat Parade

Last night, Lake Osborne Drive was wall to wall parked cars there to watch the Lake Osborne Holiday Boat show. Luckily, I just had to walk across the street to get a close view. I met a family down at the lake and the Mom was dressed up as Santa. It was festive and the best show ever!

Antifa groups plan on defacing Christopher Columbus statutes nationwide

According to Far Left Watch, a watchdog organization, Antifa and other left-wing groups plan to deface and attack Columbus statues across the country on Columbus Day.

It is unfortunate to see what was once a uniting figure—who represented American courage, optimism, and even immigrants—is suddenly in the crosshairs for destruction. We owe it to Columbus and ourselves to be more respectful of the man who made the existence of our country possible. [The Daily Signal]

Read the facts about Christopher Columbus... not the one that the liberal anarchist thugs want to tell. Antifa ARE the fascists and are terrorists.

Independence Day Parade Lake Worth

Nothing better than a hometown parade with locals participating for whom you know.  It looked like Ozzie and Susan Ona were leading the parade on their bicycles but they drove by too fast for a photo shot. Only a few things missing--not enough people, if any, waving American flags (there were even flags from Cuba, Trinadad and Finland and a few other strange flags in the parade that I did not recognize) and NO patriotic music for the birth of our nation 241 years ago.

The City's float passed by so quickly that it took me a few seconds to realize that four of our commissioners were on the float. They were in disguise. Compass gave out popsicles to kids, even to this one. I passed it on to a little kid in the parade. There were some exceptional floats and I apologize for missing some. Sarah Malega, candidate for District 1 commissioner, and her friends were enthusiastically giving out beads and buttons.

Fireworks Lake Worth

Comment Up

Last night's fireworks at Bryant Park in Lake Worth were out of this world.  I had the pleasure of viewing them from the home of good friends on N. Lakeside that overlooks the golf course. We did spot a drone but it didn't come close to the house this year. There were people on the course, some setting off little fireworks of their own.   When I arrived home, people were setting off fireworks all around my community and celebrating the greatest country on Earth.
