City of Lake Worth Beach Ditching Coal Power for Solar Energy

"January 2025--Article from WPTV: The city of Lake Worth Beach is making strides toward a cleaner and more affordable energy future, a major solar energy project is now providing power to homes.

As the city moves away from using coal as a source of energy, Lake Worth Beach is also set to receive even more solar power at the completion of the next solar facility in the Florida Municipal Solar Project, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

“This is going to begin to displace natural gas-based power, and largely coal power,” Liberty said. “Coal is a dirtier fuel. We’re going to reap the benefits of having a cleaner portion of our portfolio.”

Former President Barack Obama waged war on the coal industry so he could replace it with green energy. And that's what they did in Lake Worth Beach.

He said during his 2008 campaign that one of his goals was to “bankrupt” the coal industry and that “electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

The Obama Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued stringent regulations against coal-fired power plants to put them out of business.

President Donald Trump’s first term was a break on the war on coal. Coal is in, wind is out, and reindustrialization is the goal. Climate alarmists will scream disaster, but for millions of others, it’s all a long-awaited breath of fresh air.”

After weeks of buildup, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) unveiled its strictest-ever rules for power produced using natural gas, coal, and oil that could spur the use of carbon capture technologies.

The standards released on May 11 would impact new and old power infrastructure, including new natural gas turbines and the country’s existing coal fleet. Though the United States still has hundreds of coal plants, the number of such installations has fallen sharply during the past decade.

Ahead of the EPA’s May 11 announcement, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) threw down the gauntlet on the looming proposals.

“I fear that this Administration’s commitment to their extreme ideology overshadows their responsibility to ensure long-lasting energy and economic security and I will oppose all EPA nominees until they halt their government overreach,” the lawmaker, who represents a conservative, fossil-fuel producing state, said in a May 10 statement.

There will be no way for the grocery stores to re-supply and those shelves will empty.

Biden Revives Biggest Offshore Oil, Gas Lease Sale in US History

Has anyone heard about this on the mainstream news? NO? It's because no one knew what the hell is in the bill.

When President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law on Aug. 16, his signature opened the door to reinstating the largest oil and gas lease sale in U.S. history, which had been blocked by a court because of climate impact concerns.

The legislation contains a provision that reinstates the previously halted Lease Sale 257, the biggest offshore oil and gas lease in U.S. history, spanning nearly 81 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico.

Lease Sale 257, which sold at auction for $192 million in March 2019, was challenged by environmental groups, which argued that the sale violated federal law by relying on an inadequate environmental impact review that failed to accurately consider greenhouse gas emissions.

The law requires the government to reinstate $192 million in leases in the Gulf of Mexico that were blocked by another court ruling last year. And it requires two more sales in the Gulf and one in Alaska before October 2023. Those sales had been canceled under Biden. The provision reviving them was inserted into the law at the insistence of West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, an advocate for fossil fuels.

Biden EPA Announces ‘Flyovers’ of Key US Oil- and Gas-Producing Region

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said it will conduct “flyovers” of the Permian Basin region in Texas and New Mexico to “survey oil and gas operations to identify large emitters of methane” amid the Biden administration’s climate policy initiative.

“The flyovers are vital to identifying which facilities are responsible for the bulk of these emissions and therefore where reductions are most urgently needed,” said Earthea Nance, an EPA official, in an Aug. 1 news release. The flyovers, which will use infrared cameras, will be conducted until Aug. 15, the agency said.

With the announcement, it means the administration will continue to target the oil and gas industry. The Permian Basin accounts for 43 percent of the nation’s oil supply.

Hundreds of gallons for $1.10 with a pried open gas pump, remote control

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — High gas prices led to “numerous reports of diesel fuel thefts” around South Florida and a detective with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office took down two suspects who allegedly used high-tech equipment to steal several hundred gallons of diesel.

Now folks, this did not occur in Lake Worth Beach but just east of the turnpike on Lake Worth Road. And as a reminder, the name of our city was changed by the voters with help from the then commission several years back because our city was always being highlighted for every crime around us. The name change was supposed to help our image. It hasn't.

The two thieves even concealed their license plate as they siphoned off diesel fuel.

I hate a thief more than anything.

Supreme Court rules against EPA

The Supreme Court just gutted a major policy tool the US might have used to tackle climate change

Its decision on West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency essentially says that the EPA shouldn’t be allowed to determine whether the US gets its electricity from clean or dirty sources of energy.

That derails previous efforts by the agency to transition the US away from fossil fuels to clean energy sources like wind and solar by regulating the power sector. With the new decision, the agency might be able to push a power plant to install technology to reduce its emissions on-site, but it can’t influence states’ decisions on where they get their energy from in the first place.

Chief Justice Roberts delivered the opinion of the Court, in which Justices Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett joined. Justice Gorsuch filed a concurring opinion, in which Justice Alito joined. Justice Kagan filed a dissenting opinion, in which Justices Breyer and Sotomayor joined.
