Mask Mandates Return in California — Because Apparently, the Bureaucrats Missed 2020

When you hear the phrase “mask mandates return in California,” you could be forgiven for checking the calendar to make sure we didn’t time-travel back to 2020.

But no — it’s 2025, and Sonoma County, tucked in the heart of California’s wine country, has decided it’s time to bring back face coverings in certain healthcare facilities.

Dr. Karen Smith, the county’s interim health officer, announced that from November 1 through March 31, 2026, anyone entering specific medical settings — including nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, infusion clinics, and dialysis centers — must mask up.

She says it’s about protecting “vulnerable populations” and preventing staff shortages. The rest of America might call it bureaucracy dressed as compassion — or déjà vu with a side of government control.

Only in California could a temporary health measure morph into an annual tradition. Sonoma County’s order will renew automatically each year unless revoked, which in government language means “forever.”

Officials can also expand it anytime they deem the “risk is high,” a standard as flexible as a well-worn cloth mask. And just like the last time, it’s packaged with familiar slogans like “for your safety” and “to protect others.” We’ve heard that before — right before schools closed, businesses collapsed, and trust in public health evaporated.

You think we have it bad here with all these liberals wanting mask mandates and fighting conservatives at every turn. Well it's nothing like the UK demanding that their Prime Minister resign for not wearing a mask. This is far-out punitive and down right silly.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson a member of the Conservative party, told members of Parliament Tuesday night that he would not be resigning despite mounting pressure after he was fined for violating the COVID-19 guidelines his administration put in place.

Johnson argued he needed to remain in office to redouble efforts to combat Russian aggression in Ukraine and fix an economy rocked by the years-long pandemic, rebuffing calls for him to step down amid the fallout for violating his own protocols.

Boris Johnson is continually in the cross-hairs of the socialists in Parliament.

The crackdown intensified the battle over whether school districts can set student mask requirements, a debate that is also playing out in courts.

Board members backed a recommendation by Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran to financially penalize school boards in Alachua, Brevard, Broward, Duval, Leon, Miami-Dade, Orange and Palm Beach counties.

As Biden wants to make this a federal regulation and not a state, it was recommended by our great governor, Ron DeSantis, to withhold money to the eight districts in amounts equal to any federal funding they receive.

The federal funding was awarded through a federal grant program titled Project SAFE, or Supporting America’s Families and Educators. Cities, on the other hand, use the argument of Home Rule believing they can go around any law they don't like...usually cities with Democrats in power.

A study originally published in the January 2021 Medical Hypotheses, and now published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) under the National Institutes of Health (NIH) concludes, “data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks.”
