Iran-linked hackers breach FBI Director Kash Patel's old personal emails, publish private photos online

A pro-Iranian hacking group calling itself Handala claimed responsibility for breaching FBI Director Kash Patel's personal email account and dumping years-old photos, a resume, and personal documents online, a brazen cyberattack against the nation's top law enforcement official that the Bureau says exposed no government information.

The Daily Mail reported that the hackers published Patel's private emails and photographs online, with material appearing to span personal and work correspondence from 2010 to 2019.

Kash Patel has been working in Washington D.C. since roughly late 2013 or early 2014, when he joined the Justice Department's National Security Division. He transitioned from a Florida public defender to a federal prosecutor, later serving in key roles on the National Security Council and at the Pentagon before becoming FBI Director in 2025.

The uploaded images reportedly showed Patel on vacation in Cuba, at a bar in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and in an office space in what appears to be Washington, D.C. and appear to be about ten years old.

A Justice Department official confirmed the breach but declined to elaborate. The FBI moved quickly to frame the damage as limited and historical.

The group behind the hack, the Handala Hack Team, is believed by experts to be a front for the Iranian government. The group issued a taunting statement after the breach. Newsmax reported the hackers' message:

"Kash Patel, the current head of the FBI, who once saw his name displayed with pride on the agency's headquarters, will now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims."

"The National Archives have announced that they have found a massive amount of emails Joe Biden sent from his email aliases.

I trust NARA as far as I can throw the Empire State Building (Which Trump used to control and the home of Madison Square Gardens). I would be willing to bet they will withhold extremely damaging emails from investigators since they have already covered Biden’s hind end more times than his Depends.

NARA possesses 731 electronic files of “potentially responsive records” in relation to Biden’s aliases accounts. Those accounts include “Robert L. Peters,” “Robin Ware” and “JRB Ware.” and possibly others. The letter was sent to the Heritage Foundation as a partial response to their FOIA request."

House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman Rep. James Comer released an email Wednesday from a bank money laundering investigator who raised concerns about “unusual” financial activity surrounding $5 million from a Chinese company. Notably, $40,000 of the $5 million “landed” in Joe Biden’s pocket.

The 2018 email subpoenaed by Comer details the bank investigator’s concerns over “the initial $5 million funding from Northern International Capital Holdings, a CEFC affiliated entity linked to the Chinese government, and the subsequent erratic payments to Hudson West III, Hunter Biden’s joint venture with a Chinese national, and Owasco, P.C, an entity owned by Hunter Biden,” the Oversight Committee wrote in a statement.

Former Vice President Joe Biden had a fourth email alias, “auks@att.blackberry.net,” which he reportedly used for communications with his family. This discovery was made based on data from Hunter Biden’s laptop.

This alias is associated with Archmere Academy, where both Joe and Hunter Biden studied. The academy’s mascot is the “Auks.”

An email from May 10, 2011, sent to this address by Casey Owens, Biden’s niece, was later forwarded to Hunter Biden, Beau Biden, and Valerie Biden Owens, Joe’s sister.
