Hands Off Our Beach was included in this shot as it is still an issue although not recently discussed. Hudson Holdings is still stalling on The Gulfstream Hotel renovation using a citizens' lawsuit as an excuse not to do anything. The referendum was passed before Hudson Holdings came into this picture. They bought the hotel knowing that the voters said no more than 45' in this area.  A few advocates of the Trio (Maxwell, Triolo and Amoroso) keep complaining that we can't prove any corruption. All you have to do is open your eyes.

The new sign now includes the word "pool" as Hudson Holdings wants to get rid of our Olympic Pool and build three smaller ones. But who knows what they really want to do.

Hudson blew into town thanks to John Szerdi, former commissioner of Lake Worth, who works for them. The former chair of the Lake Worth Historic Resources Preservation Board, Wes Blackman, also works for them. The hotel property is situated in the historic district.

Hudson gave us all sorts of promises for their Gulfstream hotel, none of which have been fulfilled. Then they told us that in order for them to renovate the hotel they wanted our casino complex including the pool. This commission "visionary" wanted to give it to them on a long-term lease and secret meetings were held. Now they say they must have more height on their Gulfstream property and are requesting an up-zoning to allow it. They can get it on a 3 to 2 vote because this commission ignored the will of all those who voted and won to have heights at 45 feet in that area.

Other than just wanting some contract zoning on their Gulfstream parcels and wanting our casino  asset, can we believe anything they promise?  Can we even consider that this commission might do the right thing?

Once again, the The Palm Beach Post ignores the Charter Amendment even though they are aware. I would like to see any local newspaper incorporate all of the facts into their articles.

It is really pathetic that someone can write anonymously to the Herald about the Hands off our Beach signs.  What's worse than that?...The Lake Worth Herald printing an anonymous complaint with a misspelled word to boot.. It's getting as bad as a blog. LOL.

The "red" signs are staying up especially since the city manager said no decision would be made as to what the city will do at our casino complex until after the election. Hudson Holdings is very much around and still in the casino complex game. Don't let them fool you. They even went for an up-zoning (contract zoning?) of the Gulfstream Hotel parcels Wednesday night at the Historic Resources Preservation Board. One down; a few more to go.

It is no wonder that we have little trust in Lake Worth City Hall, in Hudson Holdings or the "visionaries" on the dais.

For $3.7 million there are some who want to sell the soul of Lake Worth to the devil. 

We keep going round and round with the same people who have the same arguments that are an affront to our sensibilities. The bottom line is, we don't want Hudson Holdings anywhere near our beach or managing our casino complex for God knows how long. This is the amount of money they say that they will invest to destroy our pool and build out the 2nd floor space. So, their offer went from a 66,000 sq. ft. building and 3 story parking garage down to managing what we already have and building out the vacant space, taking over our lucrative ballroom business as well as bulldozing our pool that we just spent one-half million on just a few years ago. They just don't get it...we don't want them touching our property, especially our pool.

They have been around our town for some time buying up properties as well as the Gulfstream Hotel that sits there decaying. They gave the Lake Worth YES PAC a $1,500 contribution in August 2014. They knew who their friends should be in Lake Worth in order to get favorable treatment. The same people are behind them in their pursuit to "grab our beach"-- they want to gain control of our casino/pool complex.

Once they get what they want from the city of Lake Worth, everything could change as some people are never satisfied and always want more. Give them an inch and they always want that mile--once their foot is in the door, anything could happen depending on who is sitting on that dais... if they ever perform.  Could this be Déjà vu?

Tell them to hit the road and HANDS OFF OUR BEACH.

Much of it was edited out particularly the part where Katie McGiveron said that we WERE making money at the beach which contradicts City Manager Bornstein's statement. He said that nothing has been decided and "they're just sitting tight."

The ITN process is long over and the presentations have been made to the commission and to the public. So, the statement of Bornstein about the city "sitting tight" means that they are giving Hudson Holdings all the time necessary to get all their plans approved, go before the Historic Resources Preservation board, etc. and the city is dragging out the inevitable.

Concerned residents are suspicious of the city manager's idea to bring in private developers to a public property and feel like they have been left out of the process with proposals being discussed behind closed doors.

"A city manager with a secret process is not going to tell us [the residents] what is going to happen at our beach," concerned resident Katie McGiveron said.
