Iowa Republican Joe Mitchell Confronts Democrat Over 177 Missed Votes

Joseph Mitchell is running in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District to replace Republican Ashley Hinson, who is running for Senate. Mitchell’s opponent is Democratic state Rep. Lindsay James.

During a debate, Mitchell went after James’s record in the Iowa House, pointing to her attendance, votes and background. Mitchell said:

• “So this is before she made her home LA and San Francisco, Massachusetts, before she conveniently moved to Iowa just 10 years ago, immediately ran for office.”
• “She gets in office, she missed over half her votes this last legislative session.”
• “And when she was there, which was probably worse, she was voting to give illegal immigrants state-funded Medicaid, food stamps, housing assistance, sex changes for kids. She hasn’t seen a tax raise she didn’t like.”
• “She was letting criminals off, violent criminals that we were trying to penalize and give the three strikes law to.”
• “So again, we don’t judge her for being from Portland, Oregon.”

Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed faced off in a Michigan U.S. Senate debate. The clips highlighted exchanges over where the candidates live, El-Sayed’s medical credentials, foreign policy, family ties and voter reaction—and gave the Rogers campaign several moments to circulate.

One of the clearest moments began when El-Sayed criticized Rogers for having a home in Florida. Rogers responded by pointing to El-Sayed’s reported home in the United Arab Emirates; the accompanying social-media post also refers to homes in Dubai and Pakistan. In the debate clip, Rogers said, “at least Florida is in the United States.”

From 1989 to 1994, Rogers worked as a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in its Chicago office, specializing in organized crime and public corruption. In 2017, Rogers was interviewed to be director of the FBI after James Comey was dismissed.

Trump made a big mistake when he chose Christpher Wray over Mike Rogers.

Trump said: “Mike Rogers, the great American Patriot and Republican Candidate for the U.S. Senate from Michigan, completely obliterated Mohammed El-Sayed in the big debate tonight. If this was a fight they would have stopped it.”

Referring to El-Sayed, the president said: “Mohammed is a Jihadist lunatic who hates our Country, the Black People of Detroit, and wants to see the U.S. fail. Short on Stature, Patriotism, and Truth, Mohammed’s statements have been loaded up with lies and deceit. I won Michigan BIG, and know that Mike Rogers, a total winner, is the man for you!!!”

The forum's co-sponsors, the League of Women Voters and the Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs, announced the pullout publicly and made clear they were not happy about it.

The withdrawal drew sharp criticism from organizers, who said voters deserved to see Bass face her opponents on live television during what they called "a period of extraordinary challenges" for the city. Her campaign offered a scheduling conflict as the reason. The timeline tells a different story.

Bass confirmed her attendance on April 22 by signing a formal commitment form for the 2026 Mayoral Candidate Forum. Organizers even posted a photograph of the signed document on Instagram.

Then, on May 7, her campaign pulled the plug, not because of a conflict flagged earlier, but with a blunt message relayed through a campaign consultant: they were "done with debates."

Analyst confirms there was 'panic' on Walz's face when he was asked about China

There's been a lot reported about the vice presidential debate between GOP candidate JD Vance and Democrat Tim Walz.

What they said has been in many reports, including Walz's claim to be friends with school shooters.

And there was Vance when he called out the CBS moderators, who had promised not to fact-check, for lying about that and fact-checking anyway.

But now the comments from a "body language expert" are revealing that there was "panic" on Walz's face when he was asked about China.

It concerns Walz's previous claims to have been in Tiananmen Square in China around the time of that horrific and deadly confrontation between protesters and the communist regime's military.

It turns out that he was in Nebraska at the time he's suggested that he was overseas, and CBS asked.

CBS News debate moderator Margaret Brennan hammered Sen. J.D. Vance with a “fact check”

suggesting that foreign nationals on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) are here legally, yet experts say that the moderator’s take doesn’t hold water.

During the vice presidential debate Tuesday night, Brennan — appearing to break a rule previously set by CBS that moderators would not fact check candidates — responded to Vance by appearing to suggest that those on TPS have legal status in the country and those who enter through the CBP One app also have a similar status.

However, immigration experts that spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation say Brennan’s “fact check” was incorrect, noting that those who obtain TPS are not automatically granted legal status and inadmissible foreign nationals enter the U.S. via the CBP One app daily.

“CBS moderator Margaret Brennan was wrong in her ‘fact check’ regarding Haitian migrants,” Julie Kirchner, executive director of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), said to the DCNF, adding that most Haitian migrants who have entered the U.S. in the past four years have no legal status.

“Haitians who enter the country illegally and then obtain temporary protected status are shielded from deportation, but receiving temporary protected status does not confer legal status.”

The debate is taking place at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City.

In a post-debate interview with the Los Angeles Times, Linsey Davis came right out and said it: They fact-checked Trump because CNN didn’t do a good enough job during an earlier debate between Trump and Biden. Let that sink in.

According to Davis, liberals were upset that CNN moderators didn’t challenge Trump enough, so ABC decided they would “fix” that. How? By turning a supposedly fair debate into a biased attack on Trump.

What’s even worse is that Davis admitted she and Muir didn’t feel the need to fact-check Kamala Harris at all. You read that right: Trump gets hammered with five fact-checks, while Harris gets off scot-free. This isn’t just unfair; it’s a blatant attack on democracy.

The role of a moderator is to be neutral, to give both candidates an equal platform to make their case. But when ABC decided they were going to be the purveyors of truth, they crossed a line. Who do these people think they are?

A former adviser to Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton has called on ABC to launch an internal investigation about whether there was an effort from its news division to rig Tuesday's presidential debate in favor of Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris.

Mark Penn, a pollster and senior adviser for the Clintons from 1995-2008 and co-chair of the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, told the "John Solomon Reports" podcast Thursday that "suspicion is really quite high" and a review of internal texts and emails should be done by an independent party to find out whether there was an effort to rig the debate's outcome.

"I actually think they should do a full internal investigation, hire an outside law firm."

John Solomon said if ABC had moderated the first debate, Biden might still be running. 😉

"She wanted to defund the police. She planned to take away everyone’s guns. She was all for fracking until recently," Trump said.

Later, Harris fired back, clarifying her stance and dropping the bombshell that both she and Walz own guns.

"I’ve been clear on fracking, and as for guns, Tim and I are both gun owners. We’re not taking anyone’s guns away. Stop the lies," she said.
