Today, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit heard arguments in what may be the most consequential trade appeal in decades.

President Trump’s Department of Justice, under Attorney General Pam Bondi, argued that the lower court’s ruling in State of Oregon, et al. v. Trump was not only legally indefensible, but a direct assault on the lawful authority of the presidency and the economic well-being of the American people.

At stake is whether the judiciary will gut the president’s ability to use tariffs as leverage in trade negotiations, negotiations that, under Trump, produced historic wins for American workers.

The decision by the US Court of International Trade to strike down President Trump’s use of tariffs as a tool of negotiation is not only deeply flawed in its legal reasoning, it is a case study in judicial myopia. That is a strong charge, and I do not level it lightly.

But when a court disregards explicit statutory delegation, ignores Congress’s own votes to preserve executive flexibility, and, in doing so, threatens the gains of successful international negotiations, one is left wondering what, exactly, the judiciary imagines its role to be. [americanliberty]

Words matter, says Mike Huckabee. And while French President Emmanuel Macron offered no substance, no operational plan to his call for a Palestinian state, his words did have an effect – a negative one.

"It was outrageous for Macron to do this, and it came at a horrible time. It basically rewards Hamas and is one of the reasons that they became unreasonable in any talks to end the war in Gaza," Huckabee, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, said in an interview with Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.

Macron said that he will revisit this topic in an official statement at the United Nations General Assembly in September.

In the post, he attached a letter he previously wrote to Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority, expressing the same sentiment. In the letter, the costs to civilians on both sides began with terrorist attacks by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.

WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) introduced the Making American Elections Great Again Act, legislation to end the Democrats’ plan to inflate congressional representation using illegal aliens and restore election integrity for American citizens.

“For years, Democrats have flooded our country with millions of illegal aliens and used them to rig our political system—now they’re saying the quiet part out loud. Under current law, the U.S. Census counts everyone—citizens and noncitizens alike—for congressional apportionment, giving sanctuary states like California and New York inflated representation in Congress while punishing red states that respect the rule of law.

• Require states to redraw congressional districts based on this new citizen-only census
• Reschedule the next census for 10 years after the completion of this new one

• Criminalize attempts to help noncitizens vote in federal elections

Chinese Research ship off coast of Alaska

Chinese Research Ship Detected Off Alaska Coast

A China-flagged research vessel was detected Friday off the coast of Alaska, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard reported Saturday that the Xue Long 2, an icebreaker, was detected about 290 nautical miles north of Utqiagvik, Alaska, in the North American Arctic.

The Xue Long 2 is operated by China's Polar Research Institute.

The ship was in the U.S.'s Extended Continental Shelf, or ECS, which is a portion of the continental shelf that goes beyond 200 miles nautical miles off the coast, according to the State Department. The ship was determined to be 130 nautical miles inside the ECS.

The aircraft flew through a section of international airspace called the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone. While the Alaska ADIZ is considered part of international airspace, it is defined as an area where sovereign U.S. airspace ends but "that requires the ready identification of all aircraft in the interest of national security," according to NORAD.

Reports surfaced on Friday from CNN (Fake News regarding Trump...can anyone believe what CNN says?)  that Powell is standing firm against calls from President Donald Trump for him to resign. Several Republicans want him to resign over his reluctance to cut interest rates, with the Fed chair quietly assuring close allies he plans to serve until his term ends in May 2026.

This saga kicked off in recent months as Trump and other GOP figures ramped up their criticism of Powell’s monetary policy decisions. They argue that slashing rates could spur economic growth, but Powell isn’t budging. It’s a classic standoff between political demands and central bank independence.

The ongoing controversy over Jeffrey Epstein and whatever might be in Department of Justice files is what happened.

Because a purported coverup of a fictional Epstein client list has considerable traction among Republican voters, many Republican members of Congress want to do the opposite of what President Trump wants: they want to force the release of additional information about him that the Department of Justice has. Democrats, sensing an opening to weaken the President have joined the fray and offered amendments of their own on the topic in committees.

Speaker Johnson, forced to choose between pleasing the President or allowing votes that would get support from his own party, decided to shut down the House early for its August recess.

Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon announced the Department of Justice will monitor the local investigation, emphasizing that federal hate crime laws apply to all Americans. Dhillon responded to Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), who slammed Cincinnati’s Democrat Mayor Aftab Pureval for his failure to condemn the racially motivated violence.

“Our federal hate crimes laws apply to ALL Americans. We @CivilRights will monitor closely how local authorities handle this attack. Nobody in our great nation should be the victim of such a crime, and where race is a motivation, federal law may apply,” Dhillon stated.

Protesters say Navy jets cause pollution and local woman sues squadron over cat's death

In Blue Sanctuary City Seattle, climate activists are protesting an upcoming U.S. Navy Blue Angels airshow, claiming the jets pollute the environment, while a local woman filed a lawsuit on Monday claiming the military jets traumatized her ailing cat.

The Blue Angels, the elite military flight demonstration team consisting of 140 active-duty Sailors and Marines, aims to "showcase the excitement, precision, and power of naval aviation" with their performances, now in their 79th year, the Blue Angels website says. The squadron has been performing at Seattle’s Seafair festival since 1972.

The Airshow Climate Action Coalition put up a billboard in Seattle this week declaring, "Say No to Blue Angels." The coalition, made up of members from local climate groups as well as the radical global climate group, Extinction Rebellion, is planning to march and hold a rally on August 2 in protest of the Blue Angels airshow that weekend.

Video of Home Depot Karens Harassing ICE Agents Arresting Suspected Illegal Aliens 

A video posted to Instagram Friday has gone viral that shows several liberal women harassing ICE and other federal agents arresting two suspected illegal aliens in the parking lot of a Home Depot in the southern California beach city of Encinitas.

The woman who posted the video to the account “@life_by_dani_” closed captioned the video and posted commentary.

The video shows her joined by two other women in confronting the agents: Swearing at them, demanding to see a warrant, accusing them of kidnapping, berating them for wearing masks and insulting them for being ICE agents.

They kept trying to get a phone number from one of the suspected illegal aliens so she could contact his family and was upset because the agents were too busy making an arrest to accommodate her demands.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced the Department of Justice had formed a "Strike Force" to investigate explosive evidence of Obama-era intelligence manipulation.

"Today, the Department of Justice announced the formation of a Strike Force to assess the evidence publicized by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and investigate potential next legal steps which might stem from DNI Gabbard’s disclosures," the DOJ said in a statement.

Speaking at a White House press briefing, Gabbard laid out what she called "irrefutable evidence" that Obama personally directed the creation of false intelligence assessments.

"We have referred and will continue to refer all of these documents to the Department of Justice and the FBI," Gabbard said.

In the wake of the federal immigration crackdown, Lake Worth Beach City Commissioner Christopher McVoy has used his elected position to spread awareness about the fear and anxiety gripping the city’s large Latino community which now is 48% of the city. We allowed all these non-citizens to enter our city.

At City Commission meetings and public pre-agenda work sessions, he has also shared concerns about Lake Worth Beach residents detained without due process at Alligator Alcatraz, the detention center that popped up this month at a rarely used airbase in Big Cypress National Preserve.

But his public bullhorn is annoying critics who say city meetings aren’t the place for his politically charged commentary.

Citing complaints from residents, Vice Mayor Sarah Malega suggested the commission consider new rules for the kinds of comments individual commissioners give at the end of meetings. The changes would restrict “Commission Liaison Reports and Comments” to topics directly related to Lake Worth Beach business and affairs, not state, federal or international issues.

If the commission approves the rules, McVoy said he’s not sure if he will comply.

Trade Deal reached with European Union

Trump Announces Trade Deal with EU

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that the U.S. reached a trade deal with the European Union, following pivotal discussions with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen days before the Aug. 1 tariff deadline.

Trump said that the deal imposes a 15% tariff on most European goods to the U.S., including cars.

Some products, including aircrafts and their components, some chemicals and pharmaceuticals, will not be subject to tariffs, von der Leyen said in a briefing after the agreement was announced. She also said that the new 15% tariff rate would not be added to any tariffs already in effect.

Trump said that the 27-member bloc also agreed to purchase $750 billion worth of U.S. energy and invest an additional $600 billion worth of investments into the U.S. above current levels.

Road closures abound in Scotland, and thousands of uniformed and plain-clothed police officers are stationed around Trump’s Turnberry Golf Course on the island’s west coast, where the president is spending a few days during the working visit.

The two will head to his resort in Aberdeen on the Northeast Scottish coast on Tuesday for lunch and more talks.

Rebates would come as the U.S. government collects record tariff revenues

President Donald Trump floated the idea of sending U.S. taxpayers rebate checks from tariff income collected this year.

Trump, speaking to reporters on July 25 before departing for Scotland, said the White House is thinking about issuing rebates to individuals in certain income levels.

“We have so much money coming in, we’re thinking about a little rebate,” the president said.

While the primary objective is to pay down the national debt, he believes there may be sufficient funds to provide rebates to U.S. taxpayers.

“We’re thinking about a rebate because we have so much money coming in from tariffs that a little rebate for people of a certain income level might be very nice,” Trump said.

To date, the Trump administration has reached trade agreements with the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan. The United States is also actively negotiating trade deals with China, Canada, the European Union, and South Korea.

This year, Washington has been generating record tariff revenues. So far this month, tariff income has exceeded $27 billion, lifting the fiscal year-to-date total to nearly $150 billion.

Churches can speak about candidates from the pulpit without risking their nonprofit status, the IRS said in a court filing on Monday.

The IRS reached the agreement to resolve a lawsuit brought by two Christian nonprofits, the National Religious Broadcasters and Intercessors for America, and two Texas churches.

Communicating with congregants about candidates is more like a “family discussion concerning candidates” than participating in a campaign or seeking to change the outcome of an election, the IRS said in a joint filing with the organizations.

Though the initial lawsuit challenged the constitutionality of the entire Johnson Amendment, which prevents churches and charities from participating in political campaign activity, the proposed consent decree would interpret the provision “so that it does not reach communications from a house of worship to its congregation in connection with religious services through its usual channels of communication on matters of faith.”

The 2-1 ruling is a warning shot to "sanctuary" jurisdictions around the country that are actively trying to thwart President Trump's mass deportation plans.

In 2021, New Jersey's Democratic governor Phil Murphy signed a law that bars state, local, and private entities from making contracts with the federal government to house illegal immigrants.

The appeals court called New Jersey's ban on private detention centers a "clever" ruse that flies in the face of the Constitution. The law was clearly "intended to ban immigration detention," the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit found.

“While Columbia does not admit to wrongdoing with this resolution agreement, the institution’s leaders have recognized, repeatedly, that Jewish students and faculty have experienced painful, unacceptable incidents, and that reform was and is needed,” the university said in a statement announcing that it had reached a deal with the federal government.

Columbia University was one of the most active campuses involved in pro-Palestinian protests that swept the United States in 2024 in the wake of terrorist group Hamas’s attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023 that killed 1200 Israelis and took over 200 hostages, which triggered a war that is still ongoing.

Pro-Palestinian students and activists formed encampments, and in several instances, Jewish students were physically or verbally harassed by protestors.

Critics, including President Donald Trump’s administration, have accused the university administrators of failing to take proper action in response to these incidents of anti-Semitism.

The Department of Education sent compliance letters to over 60 universities, warning them of potential enforcement actions if they failed to make changes to protect Jewish students under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which bars groups that receive federal funds from discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin.

Former border czar Tom Homan issued a strong warning during a national television appearance this week, saying that politically charged statements from members of Congress are putting the lives of immigration officers in jeopardy.

According to Breitbart, speaking on the July 18 broadcast of Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Homan said inflammatory language from lawmakers has incited attacks against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and facilities.

Homan, who previously served under the Trump administration as border czar, joined host Cheryl Casone on Friday morning to discuss the increasing threats directed at ICE agents. Casone opened the segment by pointing to the danger Homan himself faces, including credible death threats, prompting him to take extreme personal safety measures.

During the interview, Homan attributed a recent increase in violence toward immigration officers to the statements made by some Democratic lawmakers. He asserted that continued comparisons of ICE to terrorist organizations or authoritarian regimes have fueled these actions.

He said he had previously warned that such strong language could result in tragic consequences. “I said two months ago, if this rhetoric continues, there will be bloodshed,” he told Casone. “Unfortunately, I was right.”

President Donald Trump and the Brazilian government are increasingly at odds over the handling of embattled former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s ongoing trial related to an alleged coup to overturn the country’s 2022 presidential election.

Trump has criticized the trial as politically motivated. Bolsonaro is accused of being a coconspirator in an attempted coup d'état following his defeat in the election. He has denied any involvement and said that he is the target of political persecution under the administration of his former competitor, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, or “Lula.”

On July 17, Trump sent a letter to Bolsonaro expressing his “sincere hope that the government of Brazil changes course, stops attacking political opponents, and ends its ridiculous censorship regime.”

The day after that letter was made public, Bolsonaro made a public response thanking Trump. The Brazilian Supreme Court responded with warrants and restraining orders banning Bolsonaro from contacting foreign officials concerning the charges.

Trump said last week he would impose a 50 percent tariff on Brazilian goods starting on Aug. 1, in a letter of criticism of the Bolsonaro trial.
