Trump signs historic GENIUS Act into law
To follow-up on an earlier blog, President Donald Trump made good on his campaign promise to transform America into the world’s crypto capital when he signed the GENIUS Act into law on Friday at the White House.The landmark legislation establishes the first-ever federal regulatory framework for stablecoins, a rapidly growing segment of the cryptocurrency market worth over $250 billion.
"This could be, perhaps, the greatest revolution in financial technology since the birth of the Internet itself. A lot of people are saying that," Trump declared during the signing ceremony in the East Room.
The President surrounded himself with Republican lawmakers and top executives from major crypto firms including Robinhood, Tether, and Gemini to celebrate what he called a "hell of an act."
Trump couldn’t resist joking about the legislation’s name during the ceremony.
"We worked hard. It’s a very important act, the GENIUS Act. They named it after me," he quipped to laughter from the crowd.
