Deco Green rental housing development on the horizon

Developers obtain $32 million loan to build Lake Worth apartments

At 1715 North Dixie Highway

"Lake Worth CRA sold the property for $2.49 million in 2022. City officials have encouraged development on the east side of the city to spur economic activity.

A joint venture between Miami-based developers Office America Group and Avanti Way Group obtained a $31.5 million construction loan to build an apartment complex in Lake Worth Beach.

The developers said they obtained the loan from a New York-based company, but didn’t disclose the name. It has yet to be recorded in county records.

Located on the 2.3-acre site at 1715 N. Dixie Highway, the Deco Green Apartments will total 125,000 square feet in four buildings, the tallest rising seven stories. It would have 125 apartments and 8,000 square feet of office/retail. The 20,000 square feet of green space would include a playground, a dog park and space for community gatherings."

The Kid Lost His cool, again!

As expected, Omari Hardy lost his cool when it came to his agenda item under New Business to change the name of Dixie Highway, a highway in existence since 1915. In his mind, anything that ever had to do with the plight of the black man or could possibly represent the South must be erased from history forever. That's the belief in a racist's mind.

Hardy and Robinson both said there are long-term inequities that exist in our city and Robinson agrees with Hardy by insisting it is systemic racism saying Dixie Highway was an example. Such hogwash. They never gave one example of racism in Lake Worth, a city that prides itself on being inclusive of all people. It's easy to hurl aspersions; it's all subjective.

On an amendment to Hardy's motion by Commissioner Maxwell, he made a motion to engage the community in the discussion before they asked the Palm Beach County Commission about the subject which passed on a 3/2 vote. That got Hardy and Robinson even madder and they insisted on a detailed interpretation of what and how it would be presented to the residents.

Rewriting history is stupid. It is what it is; leave it alone. Changing the name of Dixie Highway will not change any perceived or real pain that African Americans might feel nor will defaming and tearing down statutes because someone used to own slaves. Hardy wants to punish people in our city and in America for things of the past, things that don't exist today. George Floyd was the excuse for the madness and this kid has a lot to learn.

Commissioner Hardy, "Racist" chit again

Omari Hardy with his racist assertions

Under New Business A, Hardy placed Resolution 23-2020 on the Agenda for tonight to urge the Palm Beach County Board of commissioners to re-name Dixie Highway.

Why does he want to do this?  He wants to follow in the footsteps of racists everywhere like black mayor of Riviera Beach who changed the name in 2015 to Barack Obama Highway, Obama, the biggest "racist" of all time. Not only does he want it changed in Lake Worth but all 5,786 miles of it that runs throughout the country! He supports the terrorist group, Black Lives Matter and its revisionist agenda and to erase our history for all time.

It is really surprising that Hardy believes in all this fake "racism" and continues to browbeat everyone to his way of thinking, to erase the highway's name that has been in existence for 105 years and to rewrite history of the Civil War of 156 years ago.

The entire Lake Worth Commission should reject this resolution and that includes commissioner Herman Robinson who has been played like a fiddle.

Liberal's Vendetta to Erase History

Lake Worth Beach commissioner Omari Hardy wants to rename Dixie Highway

I guess I have to say it--if there is anyone who makes it easy to dislike on our commission, it is Hardy.

He said, "In the year 2020, there shouldn't be a highway named Dixie. It was originally an interstate highway that would pretty much lead all the way to Florida up through the Midwest. It was one of the first highways in the south, so it’s not an accident it was named Dixie."

So what?  What' next? Eradicating the name "South" because the war that took place 160 years ago was between the North and South? It's as stupid as the Dixie Chicks now changing their groups name to just plain ole Chicks.

Hardy is still fighting the Civil War. The states where Dixie Highway existed until many changed to Interstate numbers were Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. Through the years the Interstates changed to I-25 and I-75, as examples, that were in Michigan and Ohio, certainly not southern states. Dixie Highway has been around since 1915.

"In 2015, Riviera Beach changed Old Dixie Highway to President Barack Obama Highway." I would guess that renaming it Black Lives Matter would suffice for Hardy. But in the current environment, any claim or posture that’s seen as emanating from the Black Lives Matter movement, however indirectly, is taken as morally unassailable.

Changing the name of our Highway will not improve the lives of our African American neighbors. And it offends no one and if it does, it is in their racist mind. This is a big part of our history and it needs to remain.

Hardy is bringing this up at the July 7 meeting. Can't wait for all that posturing once again.

Now Dixie Highway is Targeted by Idiots

Should Palm Beach County rename Dixie Highway?

There has been talk about this from other counties all year...now because of all these cop haters and rioters tearing down Confederate statutes, it has surfaced again.

Palm Beach County commissioners were contacted but only Commissioner Robert Weinroth responded. The Vice Mayor said:
In the words of George Santayana, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." I would not initiate a change in the name of Dixie Hwy because I don’t believe in erasing history but rather believe we need to learn from our past.
