Break from what?

President Donald Trump on Monday called on the U.S. Senate to cancel its five-week August break, keeping lawmakers in session to advance several of his priorities, despite not having the votes.

Trump wrote in a social media post that he wanted Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., to keep the chamber open, preventing vulnerable Republicans facing reelection from the campaign trail, to pass a voter identification bill, among other measures.

“John Thune should not allow the United States Senate to ‘leave town’ until it passes The Save America Act or, far better still, TERMINATES THE FILIBUSTER, where Republicans can then quickly pass everything they ever dreamed of, including a full and deep throated SAVE AMERICA ACT, the Budget, and the ever looming Debt Ceiling disaster, 1929!” Trump wrote. “The Dumocrats will do it on day one, and can’t believe how lucky they got with this Senate leadership.

Remember, stupidity always brings LOSING & DEATH!”

Trump followed up with another post about 15 minutes later, writing that whichever political party eliminates the rule that requires at least 60 senators vote to limit debate, known as the legislative filibuster, will hold an advantage in the Senate.

RINO Globalist Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski has come out against the bill (DC # (202) 224-6665 ) and really needs a strong GOP primary challenger in 2028!

Our current hurdle is the 60-vote filibuster rule, where 60 Senators must vote for cloture for the bill to advance, and then 51 votes are needed to send the bill to President Trump's desk, where he has indicated he wants to sign it.

The filibuster rule in the past helped us defeat Amnesty legislation 8 times in DC that would have already added 10+ million illegals to the Democrats' voter base, making today's efforts to save the nation and Trump's election wins impossible. [ALIPAC]

Former prosecutor Kamala Harris, who vowed to uphold the Constitution, now wants to change it

Vice President Kamala Harris said over Saturday that she “can’t wait” to cast her vote to end the “archaic” Senate filibuster in order to advance measures that protect abortion at a federal level and implement voting reform legislation.

Harris’ remarks came during a speech at the Democratic National Committee’s summer meeting at National Harbor in Maryland, where she urged support for Democratic Senate candidates in the November midterm elections.

“With just two more seats in the Senate, we can codify Roe v. Wade, we can put the protections of Roe in law,” Harris said. “With two more seats in the United States Senate we can pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Two more seats.”

President Joe Biden isn’t sitting on the sidelines anymore with regard to the filibuster rule in the Senate.

This week, he’s meeting with Democrats in the Senate as his party is pushing to change the Senate’s filibuster rule so that liberals can try to pass voting rights reform.

A senior aide with the Democratic Party said Biden had planned to attend a caucus lunch behind closed doors “to discuss the push to pass voting rights and potential changes to Senate rules.”

Senator Manchin pointed out that he and 33 Democrats signed a pledge in 2017 to preserve the filibuster. They did this realizing that the brinksmanship started by then-Majority Leader Reid set-off a destructive precedent that stands to destroy the Senate as a deliberative body.

If the filibuster is eliminated then the Senate might as well be dissolved as it will have no definitive, formative difference between it and the House other than term length and slightly differing responsibilities. The Senate would become no different than a select committee.

It's a win for Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) that allows him to pass Biden's $2.25 trillion package by revising the fiscal 2021 Budget Resolution.
