President of Colombia Pro-Trumper

Colombia's conservative president takes office in Cali, citing Jefferson and vowing to restore order

Abelardo de la Espriella, a 48-year-old conservative lawyer who ran as a pro-Trump ally, was inaugurated as Colombia's president Friday in a historic ceremony held outside Bogotá for the first time in over 200 years, and his predecessor refused to show up.

De la Espriella took the oath of office at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time at the Arena USC amphitheater on the campus of the University of Cali, breaking with more than two centuries of tradition that placed every Colombian inauguration in the capital.

Senate leader Honorio Miguel Henríquez Pineda administered the oath, presented the presidential sash, and delivered a speech outlining the challenges the new administration inherits. De la Espriella then swore in José Manuel Restrepo as vice president.

The choice of Cali, the capital of the southwestern state of Valle del Cauca and one of the regions hardest hit by armed groups, was deliberate. De la Espriella told Colombian magazine Semana he picked the city as a "symbolic" gesture of his administration's promise to fight criminal and terrorist organizations.

The symbolism carried weight: earlier in the week, police intercepted a bus loaded with 420 kilograms of explosives near Cali, a plot allegedly led by a FARC commander.

Democrat Polls for 2028

Kamala Harris dominates AOC in early 2028 Democratic primary polling

Three years before the next presidential election, Democrats are already polling their bench, and the results tell a familiar story about a party that lost the White House, lost the Senate, and lost House seats, yet keeps circling back to the same names that led them there.

A Lake Research Partners survey of 800 Democratic primary voters, conducted May 6, 11, tested a hypothetical 2028 presidential primary using ranked-choice voting scenarios.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris led a 13-candidate field with 25 percent support. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York finished fourth at 9 percent, a 16-point gap that widened further when the field narrowed.

In a five-candidate ranked-choice simulation, Harris held 30 percent. California Governor Gavin Newsom took 24 percent. Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg drew 22 percent. Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Mark Kelly tied for last at 12 percent each.

When elimination rounds played out, Harris beat Newsom in the final matchup, 52 percent to 48 percent. The poll carried a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Early general election polls taken three years out are historically unreliable. But the Democratic appetite for testing these matchups reveals a party already gaming out 2028 with the same roster that failed in 2024.

Somalian President will not take Ilhan Omar back

Trump Asked Somalian President If He Wanted To Take Ilhan Back

During a Thursday press conference, President Donald Trump made headlines after revealing a pointed exchange he had with Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, suggesting he asked the foreign leader if he would like to “take back” Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — an offer Mohamud reportedly declined.

“Between her and Ilhan Omar and the group,” Trump told reporters, “I met the head of Somalia. Did you know that? And I suggested that maybe he’d like to take her back, and he said, ‘I don’t want her.’”

The comment drew laughter from those in the room, and highlighted controversy in an already tense political atmosphere.

Rep. Omar, a Somali-American and member of the progressive “Squad” in Congress, recently faced calls for censure following her hostile remarks about the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on September 10 while speaking at an event in Utah.

Tough Love for Mexico President's graft

A few excerpts from Victor Davis Hanson's article

Victor Davis Hanson on Claudia Sheinbaum

Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for The Daily Signal. I’d like to talk about illegal immigration, but specifically about the new president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.

She’s been very vocal about U.S. policy toward Mexico. For example, she said she would offer legal counsel to her citizens that were here illegally that were picked up, she thought, unfairly or too violently by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

She also said that the United States had no business taxing remittances—that is money that Mexican nationals here, for the most part illegally, send back to Mexico.

Many of these people sending back that money to Mexico are on local, state, federal entitlements for housing, for food, for education, for health care. In other words, we the taxpayers subsidize illegal aliens so that they can free up cash to send back to people in Mexico in dire poverty that can’t find redress of grievances from Sheinbaum’s own government.

She said, “Do not come into Mexican national ground if you’re going after the cartels.” That’s understandable, but the cartels are going into our ground.

So, what I’m getting at is she’s very, very intrusive in American politics. But here’s the problem: A recent Pew poll, taken just last year, showed a striking asymmetry. Whereas 61% of Mexican citizens have a favorable view of the United States, only 31% of Americans have a favorable view of Mexico.

Why is Mexico running a $171 billion trade surplus with the United States? Because China is avoiding tariffs by sending products to Mexico, which then Mexico assembles and exports with less duty into the United States.

New President of FMEA, Ed Liberty Lake Worth Beach

Lake Worth Beach's Utility Director, Ed Liberty, elected as President of FEMA

The Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) has elected a new executive board to lead the organization over the coming year. And Lake Worth couldn't be more prowd.

FMEA represents Florida’s community-owned electric utilities — from large cities like Jacksonville and Orlando to small towns such as Wauchula and Havana — which collectively serve 4 million customers and employ more than 5,800 Floridians.

The association actively represents and advocates for member cities’ interests on a wide variety of state and federal issues, provides emergency response and mutual aid coordination, provides education and training for members and serves as a clearinghouse for industry news and information.

I sent Mr. Liberty a congratulatory e-mail and he wrote back that a new tie-line for Lake Worth Electric Utility was installed yesterday at the Canal Substation on Davis Road…huge project visible from Davis Road. Massive poles connected on Lake Worth Road and 6th Avenue South also installed that go all the way to Military Trail.

Tucker interviews the President of Iran

Tucker Carlson Interviews Iran’s President

Tucker Carlson announced that he has conducted an interview with Masoud Pezeshkian, the newly elected president of Iran, just days after the United States and Iran engaged in a brief military conflict.

In a video statement, Carlson said the American public has a right to hear directly from foreign leaders — even adversaries — when their government engages in military actions.

“We just finished up an interview with Masoud Pezeshkian, who is the president of Iran… We know we’ll be criticized for doing this interview. Why did we do it anyway? Well, we did it because we were just at war with Iran 10 days ago and maybe again,” Carlson said.

Dr. Santa Ono rejected as next President of UF

Former DEI advocate rejected to lead University of Florida

The Florida Board of Governors on Tuesday voted 10-6 to reject Dr. Santa Ono’s appointment as the University of Florida’s next president, halting a nomination that had advanced with unanimous support from the university’s Board of Trustees.

Dr. Santa Ono, the former president at the University of Michigan, was rejected Tuesday as the next president at the University of Florida amid backlash from Republicans over his earlier support of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Tuesday's decision by the 17-member Board of Governors comes one week after UF's Board of Trustees unanimously approved Ono as the finalist.

Ono was on track to become one of the highest paid public university presidents in the country. He was due to sign a five-year contract with a base salary of $1.5 million and incentives to earn as much as $15 million over the life of the deal.

The vote followed nearly three hours of questioning focused on Ono’s past support for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and his handling of campus protests, despite his assurances that such programs would not return to UF under his leadership.

The university will now restart its presidential search, which began after Ben Sasse stepped down last year.

Endorsed by Trump, Karol Nawrocki, the newly elected President of Poland

Pro-Trump Conservative Nawrocki Wins Poland’s Presidential Election

Conservative candidate Karol Nawrocki narrowly beat liberal Rafał Trzaskowski in Poland’s presidential election runoff, winning 50.89 percent of the vote to 49.11 percent, according to the electoral commission.

The result was a dramatic shift from an initial exit poll released immediately after voting ended at 9 p.m. In that survey, which had a 2 percentage point margin of error, Trzaskowski had 50.3 percent compared to 49.7 percent for Nawrocki. Turnout was 71.6 percent.

Nawrocki, backed by the nationalist Law and Justice (PiS) party and also by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, aims to pull Poland away from the European mainstream in a more populist direction.

Coming out of the Dark into the Sunlight

White House Report Card: Biden out with a whimper, Trump in with a bang

This week’s White House Report Card finds the nation preparing to come out of Joe Biden’s dark presidency to the historic return of President-elect Donald Trump.

Tomorrow, Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president, capping a return from his own dark period after losing to Biden in 2020, hobbled by two impeachments and shadowed by the COVID-19 crisis.

And this time, many agree, he will enter the White House as the most powerful new leader in the modern presidency.

For our final Biden and first Trump report card, Democratic pollster John Zogby and conservative analyst Jed Babbin sized up Biden for a final grade, and it wasn’t good.

Biden ended his term with a historically low approval rating, and many in the nation were eager for him to go.

Trump entered with his highest approval rating, and new polls say he is poised to become one of the modern greats.

Trump Certification

What Will Jan. 6 Committee Democrats Do When It’s Time to Certify Trump’s Win?

House Democrats on the select committee that accused President-elect Donald Trump of inciting an insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, are not saying whether they will vote to certify Trump’s victory next Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.

A week after two prominent Democratic lawyers penned an op-ed urging House Democrats to overturn the 2024 presidential election, Democrats have been largely mum.

The Daily Signal contacted the offices of House Democratic leadership, as well as those of members of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol to ask about the op-ed and whether they would vote to certify Trump’s victory when a joint session of Congress convenes on Monday.

Democrats covered up Biden's incompetence and sold us down the river

Biden’s Beach Days: 570 Reasons You Should Be Outraged!

Joe Biden’s presidency has been nothing short of historic—not for accomplishments, but for the sheer amount of time he’s spent doing absolutely nothing.

With a jaw-dropping 570 days on vacation over the past four years, Biden has officially spent 40% of his presidency on vacation. That’s right, four out of every ten days, our commander-in-chief was beachside, not behind the Resolute Desk.

And while the White House might argue that “he can work from anywhere,” the optics scream louder than their excuses.

Being President of the United States is arguably the toughest job in the world. But Biden’s performance (or lack thereof) suggests he views it more like a semi-retirement gig. The man begged the American people for this job, then acted like it came with mandatory PTO.

And it still begs the question, who was in charge and making the decisions that allowed our country to go down the tubes and lose prestige and favor all over the world?

Trump is the Man

Trump Increasingly Seen as De Facto President Amid Biden's Declining Visibility

The current U.S. political landscape appears to shift focus from President Joe Biden to President-elect Donald Trump, who is increasingly perceived as the influencing figure in major national decisions.

Despite Biden still holding the presidential office, discussions and media coverage suggest that a greater political influence is now wielded by Trump, as Hotair.com reports.

Across the political spectrum, consensus suggests that President Joe Biden is experiencing a significant decline in political relevance.

This perception emerges amid recent congressional actions in which Biden's influence was notably absent, particularly concerning issues such as the continuing resolution to fund the government and the debt ceiling debate.

Media narratives have notably shifted, focusing on Trump's direct involvement in high-stake negotiations. Meanwhile, efforts by Democrats to negotiate splits between Trump and influential figures like Elon Musk have further sidelined Biden, adding to the narrative of his diminished role.

Bill O'Reilly predicts how Trump will Lead

Bill O’Reilly Predicted That One Major Thing Will Happen During Trump’s Presidency

Bill O’Reilly has been through many presidential administrations. He has seen it all by now.

And he had one huge prediction about what will take place during Trump’s presidency.

Donald Trump will be taking office in mid-January and the question on everyone’s mind is what will his second term look like. With the nominations he’s made for key cabinet positions, it already seems things might go a bit differently than in the past.

Some people are worried about how Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. or Tulsi Gabbard will govern.

But Bill O’Reilly is making a prediction and he says that Trump will serve as the ultimate boss.

Trump declared winner in the early morning after Harris abandons supporters

Former President Donald Trump was declared the winner of the 2024 presidential election by several news outlets early on Wednesday morning.

Supporters were waiting for the former president to issue an address at Mar-a-Lago in West Palm Beach, Florida, after winning several battleground states on his way to a likely victory. Among those were Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania while Michigan's votes were still being counted.

Vice President Kamala Harris, on the other hand, left a large crowd at an election party at Howard University without giving a speech. It was reported previously that President Joe Biden would not be attending the party.

Newsmax was the first to declare Trump the winner. Fox News declared Trump the victor at about 1:50 a.m. ET. Trump had already won 247 electoral votes, according to a CNN projection, but he was ahead in several other very important battleground states. When I turned on my tv at 130 am, he had 267 electoral votes.
