The Socialist-Elite

Victor Davis Hanson: The New Socialists—Elite, Ungrateful, and Toxic as Ever

Win some blue-state and blue-city races, and the cocky new socialist Jacobins believe that they have either already taken over the Democratic Party or will soon absorb it. And in reaction to these new swarms, an increasingly terrified and ossified old Democrat guard either limps away from the hive or invites them in to take over more.

It is fascinating but ultimately depressing to watch old-style Democrats say or do anything to avoid the new mob of Robespierres....(1758–1794) was a radical French lawyer and politician. He led the Committee of Public Safety and shaped the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution before his execution on July 28, 1794.)

Democrat candidates who recently begged for a Schumer/Pelosi/Jeffries endorsement now are telling them to get in line at the guillotine.

Jewish American Democrats are terrified that what happened to the primaried and defeated Rep. Dan Goldman of New York, an arch-Trump hater, could befall them. Goldman’s obnoxious showboating hatred of Trump and championing of neo-socialist agendas offered no defense against the Jacobins’ antisemitism and hatred of Israel.

A number of Jewish Democrat candidates, like wannabe California congressman Scott Wiener, are backing off from Israel and now join the “genocide!” mob. Wiener hopes that the throng will reward his new anti-Israel position by overlooking the now inconvenient fact that to the antisemitic Democrat base he is still Jewish.

The Democrat Party is gone forever

What Democrats Could Say, but Aren’t. What They Are Saying, but Shouldn’t

The traditional Democrat Party of the last century has been systematically replaced by a radical Jacobin movement that seeks the fundamental transformation of Western civilization.

This new faction mirrors the French Revolution’s extremists by toppling statues, weaponizing race through DEI, and showing open disdain for national borders.

From billionaire socialists to the rejection of law and order, the modern Left has abandoned the working class in favor of a revolutionary agenda that endangers the very foundations of the American Republic, argues Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words.”

Victor Davis Hanson on Iran Excursion

Iran Crumbles, Critics Scramble: Trump’s Long Game Leaves the Media Exposed | Victor Davis Hanson

We don't know what the ultimate prognosis of this war is, but if we take the long view, it's far more favorable to our interests than it is to our enemies.

The media’s 24-hour ragebait cycle can’t explain what’s actually unfolding in Iran. While critics swing wildly between calling Trump a “warmonger” and “weak,” the reality points to a regime that’s been militarily and strategically crippled.

Meanwhile, adversaries like Russia and China are feeling the ripple effects, and NATO’s cracks are on full display.

The long view tells a very different story—and it’s one the headlines won’t admit, argues Victor Davis Hanson.

Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words

There are two wars being fought right now in Iran: a military one, which the United States is dominating on all fronts, and a political one, which is proving more difficult than the former.

Why? President Donald Trump has a lot to contend with right now: the MAGA base, the crazy Democrat opposition, the midterms, the economy, the charge that he’s too influenced by Israel, and the general repulsion of the American people for anything to do with the Middle East.

Mamdani the Communist who will completely destroy New York City

Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for The Daily Signal. Everybody in New York City is on edge because it looks like, for the first time in the modern era at least, Zohran Mamdani is going to be the mayor in our November election.

Now, what’s disturbing about it is he is an unapologetic socialist. He says he is a democratic socialist, but on occasions in the past, he has said things like, to be a real socialist, “you must acquire or take possessions of the means of production.” That’s right out of the communist playbook of Friedrich Engels. It’s essential to communism.

"Move the United Nations to Ghana"

VDH: Trump should consider evicting the 'irrelevant' U.N. from New York

'I think he should say, 'You know what. Put it in Ghana or maybe, I don't know, Peru or somewhere''

On Fox Business Friday, Hoover Institution Senior Fellow Victor Davis Hanson called on President Donald Trump to reassess the United Nations' (U.N.'s) role and presence in the United States.

In an op-ed, Hanson said that the United Nations has become as ineffective and compromised as the defunct League of Nations, with only Trump willing to confront global crises head-on. Speaking on "The Bottom Line," Hanson said it may be time to relocate the institution and reexamine America's financial commitment to global bureaucracies.

"I think we've got to cut back on all of the so-called refugee relief funds. And we've got out of most of them. And we've got out a lot of the spinoffs, like the WHO and other criminal courts," Hanson said. "But I think Trump should have a serious conversation whether you even want the U.N. headquarters in New York. Because for half the membership, that's the only time they ever vote in a democratic fashion."

A Gallup poll in September shows 63% of U.S. adults believe the U.N. is doing a poor job.

Only in America do we blame victims like Iryna Zarutska

Victor Davis Hanson on the murder of Iryna Zarutska

"The truth is that we have a crime problem in the United States in the African-American inner city. Not in rural African-American communities. Not in African-American women. Not necessarily in African-American men over 40 or 50. But from 15 to 40, that demographic comprises about 3% of the country, and they’re committing about 50% of the violent crimes, as we saw with Iryna. And yet, we didn’t talk about it.

In fact, we were told by the mayor not to politicize this. She politicized this by saying that arresting people would not solve the problem. Had you arrested Mr. Decarlos Brown, it would’ve solved the problem.

She said, “We can’t demonize the homelessness.” If demonizing the homelessness means that they’re not going to slit somebody’s throat, I will prefer that Iryna be alive and I will demonize Mr. Decarlos Brown for having 14 felonies.

And finally, another pathology or another wound was revealed. The magistrate, Teresa Stokes, allowed him, with 14 felonies, up on another felony of misusing the 911 system.

That in itself may not have been an existential crime, but given his record of violence, why didn’t she keep him in jail? Why wasn’t there an indictment and a trial and conviction?"

John Bolton and "The Room Where It Happened"

Trump, Bolton, and the FBI Raid Details the Media Isn’t Telling You

Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for The Daily Signal.

Last week, the FBI—under the aegis of the Department of Justice—raided John Bolton, the former national security adviser to President Donald Trump during his first term. And they raided his home and his house. And they took away documents, which allegedly, the target of the raid were these documents.

Bolton was not arrested. He was not indicted. There was no effort aimed at him personally. But the accusation, apparently, was that he had removed classified documents.

Almost immediately, the Left and the “Never Trump” Right, said, “See, we told you Donald Trump is on a revenge tour. First it was John Brennan, and then James Clapper, then James Comey. He’ll go after Anthony Fauci. Anybody that doesn’t have a pardon is fair game.”

But there’s more to the story than that. In 2019, when Trump fired John Bolton as national security adviser, he was writing a book. And he sold that book on the premise that he had been in the room. The title was, essentially, “This happened in the room” or “What happened in the room.” And he took prodigious notes.

The book was almost out. A federal judge, Royce Lamberth, looked at it and he thought—he basically said, “Well, I can’t really stop the book. It’s gonna be released in a few days.”

But in kind of a rare excursus, he said, “John Bolton, you’re doing something wrong. You are violating, likely, national security laws. And if you don’t stop, you’ll be subject, at some point, to criminal prosecution.” And then he let it rest.

Gavin going around California's Independent Commission

Now who's the dictator?

Gavin to redraw Congressional maps

Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for The Daily Signal.

"California has been in the news recently because it’s going to have an unusual redistricting effort. That means we’re going to redraw the maps of our 52 congressional seats.

And we’re gonna do that, according to our governor, because Texas has been doing that. And California Gov. Gavin Newsom is running for president in 2028, so he wants to show that he is on the cutting edge of Democratic opposition to Texas.

But there’s a problem. Texas doesn’t have an independent commission—not that they’re really independent, but in theory, they are. They just gerrymander. And Texas has an underrepresentation of Republicans in congressional seats.

Bottom line: Here is Gavin Newsom using four-letter words, expletives, boasting that he is going to attack President Donald Trump by spending a quarter-billion dollars to even make the notorious California congressional election map even more unfair, like 8% Republican, as a reply to Texas, even though California votes 38% to 40% Republican.”

Tough Love for Mexico President's graft

A few excerpts from Victor Davis Hanson's article

Victor Davis Hanson on Claudia Sheinbaum

Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for The Daily Signal. I’d like to talk about illegal immigration, but specifically about the new president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.

She’s been very vocal about U.S. policy toward Mexico. For example, she said she would offer legal counsel to her citizens that were here illegally that were picked up, she thought, unfairly or too violently by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

She also said that the United States had no business taxing remittances—that is money that Mexican nationals here, for the most part illegally, send back to Mexico.

Many of these people sending back that money to Mexico are on local, state, federal entitlements for housing, for food, for education, for health care. In other words, we the taxpayers subsidize illegal aliens so that they can free up cash to send back to people in Mexico in dire poverty that can’t find redress of grievances from Sheinbaum’s own government.

She said, “Do not come into Mexican national ground if you’re going after the cartels.” That’s understandable, but the cartels are going into our ground.

So, what I’m getting at is she’s very, very intrusive in American politics. But here’s the problem: A recent Pew poll, taken just last year, showed a striking asymmetry. Whereas 61% of Mexican citizens have a favorable view of the United States, only 31% of Americans have a favorable view of Mexico.

Why is Mexico running a $171 billion trade surplus with the United States? Because China is avoiding tariffs by sending products to Mexico, which then Mexico assembles and exports with less duty into the United States.

Victor Davis Hanson exposes California's Progressive Policies

"This Is WAY Worse Than I Thought… | Victor Davis Hanson"

In this video, Hanson dissects how progressive policies have led to California’s decline, from rising crime and homelessness to unchecked bureaucratic overreach.

He argues that Gavin Newsom embodies the contradictions of the modern left—promoting equity while presiding over growing inequality, and pushing climate agendas while benefiting from elite privilege.

Hanson illustrates how California, once a symbol of American opportunity, has become a cautionary tale under one-party rule. Ultimately, he contends that the state’s dysfunction reveals the dangerous consequences of ideology-driven leadership disconnected from everyday reality.

Victor Davis Hanson exposes the left’s hypocrisy in their governance of California and their support for Gavin Newsom.

Reverse Racism by Victor Davis Hanson

And in the case of Susan Rice, she was appointed in a late appointment by then-President Joe Biden, who pretty much wiped out all of the Trump appointments. So, her dismissal by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was not unusual.

And yet, she fired back at him and said he was dumb as a rock and ultra-MAGA. But what was interesting, she said, “white male, cisgender.”

In other words, she attacked his race. And she said her administration would’ve fired him for the Signal chat scandal. But of course, she was the one that came out on Sunday talk shows and lied five times about the disaster in Benghazi, among other things later in her career. But why inject race into it?

Victor Davis Hanson on the FBI

Robert Mueller, a former FBI director, was the head of the Special Counsel’s Office. Remember that? And he had the dream team—the all-stars, a hunter/killer team—with the Left. He was almost giddy about that they were gonna get President Donald Trump on Russian collusion. Forty million dollars, 20 months later, they didn’t find anything.

We found all sorts of improprieties within that investigation. Andrew Weissmann and others cleaned their cellphones so that no one could see their text messages. We had Peter Strzok and Lisa Page dismissed from the investigation because of their notorious and now infamous tweets.

If you would rather read it...click here

Add it all up—Mueller, Comey, McCabe, Clinesmith, Christopher Wray, Strzok, Page—and I think it’s been a very good but overdue thing to close down that Washington office and close a sad chapter in the history of a once-great agency.

Trump’s Ambitious Middle East Vision | Explained

"It’s a new type of approach--that if everybody will just calm down, there’s a great opportunity to make money and be profitable. And that would include the disarmament, nuclearly, of Iran and the inclusion of Israel in the body politic."
