Self-described 'revisionist-Marxist' identified after storming field at Yankee Stadium on 9/11 anniversary
A 38-year-old Long Island man who charged onto the field at Yankee Stadium waving a Palestinian flag during the 9/11 25th Anniversary Subway Series game has been identified as a self-described "revisionist-Marxist", and now faces misdemeanor charges.Kelly Marcucci jumped from the stands during the seventh inning of the Yankees-Mets game on Friday night, sprinted into centerfield with the flag, and was tackled by stadium security, the New York Post reported. The field charge happened at exactly 9:11 p.m., a detail that, given the occasion, drew immediate attention. Fans in the stands responded with chants of "USA!"
The NYPD charged Marcucci with two misdemeanors: interference with a professional sporting event and trespassing. Neither Marcucci, the Yankees, nor the Mets immediately returned requests for comment.
