House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is hitting the campaign trail for a six-week, 22-state blitz

as Republicans make their closing push to defend their narrow House majority in November

Johnson plans to visit more than 40 congressional districts through Election Day, focusing equally on vulnerable Republican-held seats and Democrat-held districts the GOP sees as pickup opportunities, Axios reported.

The nationwide swing comes as the Cook Political Report has moved 15 House races toward Democrats. Cook moved the races Friday and said Democrats' likeliest outcome is a gain of five to 15 seats, although that assessment could change during the campaign's final weeks.

Johnson begins his latest campaign swing this week with stops in Louisiana and New York before traveling across the country.

The speaker's schedule reportedly includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
