No more elephant in the room

Former Chair, Sid Dinerstein

Read where the Republican Party of Palm Beach County has closed its doors.

Perhaps it's all that financial involvement years ago in local non-partisan elections such as in Lake Worth that did them in. Then there was an about face as they never helped Republican Steve Rosenblum with one dime against Jeff Clemens when he was running for House District 89. The Party blamed it all on Steve for not raising the money. We should have known something was going on then. Rosenblum had been trying to bring the Republican Party back to it’s conservative platform of lower taxes & smaller government by working from within the Party. We knew something was strange when the Republican Party did not help Mack Bernard, Democrat, when he ran against Clemens for Fl State Senator as he aligned more with their point of view.

With 249,715 registered Republican voters and 389,581 Registered Democrats in the county, you would think that some of these liberals would start seeing the light and you would especially think that registered Republicans in Palm Beach County would.

My Cup of Tea

  • Marco Rubio, (Rep) US Senate
  • Allen West, (Rep) US Congress District 22
  • Michael E. Arth, (NPA) Governor (The only stand-up guy running for Governor on the issues especially Amendment 4)
  • Jim Lewis (NPA) Attorney General
  • Chief Financial Officer - no endorsement
  • Thad Hamilton (NPA) FL Commissioner of Agriculture (Retired Lt. Col. US Army--he has integrity)(Both the Dem and Rep candidates support illegal alien farm labor and have other negatives)
  • Steven Rosenblum, (Rep) FL House District 89 (Clemens is not a choice)
  • Bill Graham, PB Cnty School Board District 3 (I approve of his stand on merit raises)
  • Ann Kanjian, PB Cnty School Board District 4
  • Christopher McVoy, Lake Worth Commissioner District 2
  • Suzanne Mulvehill, Lake Worth Commissioner District 4

AMENDMENTS
Amendment 1: No
Amendment 2: No (This is a warm and fuzzy amendment that we can not afford)
Amendment 4: Yes (to help end corrupt politics and give the people a voice on growth)
Amendment 5: Yes
Amendment 6: Yes (Instead of voters choosing legislators, we have legislators choosing voters! Amendments 5 & 6 will stop that because they create rules against drawing districts to favor incumbents of political parties)
Amendment 8: Yes (According to reports, from 2003 till early 2010, the state has spent approximately $15.8 billion in order to help reduce class sizes through out the state. The Florida Department of Education reports that an additional $350 million is needed to meet class-size caps - including more classroom space and teachers. This cost takes into account cuts to health, education and other state programs in order to eliminate a looming $3.2 billion state budget shortfall. According to reports, if the proposed amendment is approved, no costs would be incurred)
Federal Balanced Budget: Yes

Restoring Honor (And Truth In Reporting) - Glenn Beck in Washington

Comment Up
There are but two powers in the world, the sword and the mind. In the long run the sword is always beaten by the mind.

~Napoleon Bonaparte

ABC News political director Mark Halperin stated that, as individuals, most journalists and news producers hold liberal political views and these views affect their reporting. From time to time we have mentioned the left-wing media and its ideological bias. This bias shapes and undermines U.S. society. Even the PB Post's editorials on illegal immigration, as one example, choose to ignore our laws. On September 6 the editorial by Rhonda Swan suggested a back-door amnesty for illegal farm workers that would help-big agricultural corporations.

Thus, we are featuring the article written by Steven Rosenblum, candidate for House District 89, on Glenn Beck's Lincoln Memorial Rally.

By: Steven Rosenblum
Source

On Saturday, August 28th – the 47th anniversary of the Reverend Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech – a predominantly patriotic crowd of more than 300,000 Americans (probably closer to 650,000), who share a faith in a higher power, gathered together on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in front of the Lincoln Memorial. They came by the bus load, from all across the United States and ranged in age from the very young to senior citizens.

They came to hear radio and cable TV host Glenn Beck speak about faith, hope and charity. They came to see American patriots receive merit badges for their selfless acts of the aforementioned faith, hope and charity. There was no talk of politics or the upcoming mid-term elections. There was a fundraiser that netted more than $5 million for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides full scholarship grants and educational and family counseling to the surviving children of special operations personnel who die in operational or training missions and immediate financial assistance to severely wounded special operations personnel and their families.”

Of course, if you watched or read the reports from the mainstream media, you would have thought that 87,000 predominantly white, conservatives gathered to hear Michele Bachmann and Dick Armey speak. The fact that neither Bachmann nor Armey were even scheduled to appear, and in fact were not invited, didn’t prevent CNN from getting it completely wrong.

Glenn Beck deliberately refrained from announcing the list of speakers or disclosing the agenda prior to the event, purposely seeking to witness the manner in which media outlets would report on the Restoring Honor Rally. They live up (or down, as the case may be) to expectations. True to biased form, the liberal media filled in the blanks with blatantly false information and a negative slant.

Once the event was underway, it was apparent that the dumbfounded media seemed clueless as to how to report on it. For example, there was no mention of the Black Robe Regiment, which included 250 members of clergy from various denominations. This group is based on an organization of religious leaders from Colonial times that preached about the proper role of government and the importance of the individual.

There was scarcely a mention of the fact that Dr. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., chose to speak of faith, hope and love at Beck’s event rather than join Rev. Al Sharpton at his counter rally. Nor did the media mention that is usually the case, those that attended this “conservative” event left the mall spotless.

It seems that the predominantly white, predominantly secular, predominantly liberal and predominantly lazy media was predominantly wrong on and biased in its reporting on this event. This comes as no great shock, as they usually don’t report fairly or accurately on events with which they have little understanding or respect.

The Gulfstream Hotel, Lake Worth's Planning & Zoning Board, Lisa Maxwell and Jeff Clemens

Comment Up

"The Gulfstream Hotel, the historic Lake Worth property on Lake Avenue, remains shuttered, its potential unrealized. Asset Holding Company 5 LLC filed a foreclosure lawsuit against CSC Lake Worth Limited Partnership on Aug. 11 in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. The lawsuit seeks repayment of a $12 million loan, plus the foreclosure of the hotel property." Read more about it HERE

Our own Planning and Zoning Board, and member at the time Lisa Maxwell, now a candidate for District 4 running against Commissioner Suzanne Mulvehill, allowed the owner of the Gulfstream, Ceebraid and Adam Schlesinger, to jerk the City of Lake Worth around granting them variance after variance and plan change after plan change just so that we could witness delay after delay. Schlesinger was hoping that the economy would turn in his favor. Our P&Z bent over backwards in accommodating the owner.

Read blog on the Gulfstream Hotel.

Back in July 2005, Schlesinger bought the historic hotel for $12,910,000 paying over double what it sold for only two years before. The hotel is 13,500 sq. ft. situated on 0.399 acres directly across from the Intracoastal Waterway and Bryant Park.

In the meantime, it has been over 5 years that the City of Lake Worth has been without a hotel. Schlesinger says he is trying to "work out" his loan problem.

Charles Celi filed a complaint and it went to an Appeal. Jennings, Golden and Mulvehill voted to grant his appeal and to reverse the approval of the Planning & Zoning Board regarding Schlesinger’s request for a time extension on the Gulfstream Hotel. Read what happened. Celi got the 3 to 2 vote but lost anyway. Clemens and Lowe dissented...just another BAD (corrupt) vote by former Mayor Jeff Clemens who is now running for House District 89 against Steven Rosenblum.

So, now we have the Gulfstream Hotel in foreclosure and Schlesinger owing everyone in the world big bucks. He sure can't claim that the Planning & Zoning Board and Lisa Maxwell or Mayor Clemens didn't do everything possible to vote in his favor against the best interests of Lake Worth.

Steven Rosenblum candidate House District 89 on Jobs

Steven Rosenblum is running against Jeff Clemens for House District 89. As jobs and the economy are our main issues in the State, this is what Steven says about Jobs:

Jobs

Florida faces an unemployment rate over 12%. Many Floridians have been out of work for a year or more. Some have given up looking for work out of frustration.

We need a combination of lower taxes and tax rebate incentives to bring new businesses to Florida, especially manufacturers, and to allow existing businesses to hire again. We can create jobs by developing our energy resources while also lowering the cost of energy. This, in turn, will also free up more dollars for businesses to grow and thrive.

We also need to examine our state university and county community college curriculums to ensure that they are offering classes to students that will allow them to compete in the 21st Century job market.

Jeff Clemens plays the right Tune to win Primary

Singing the "right" tune

State Rep District 89

Brandenburg raised $58,059 and garnered 40% of the vote to Clemens' $34,248 with 60%.

(The Supervisor of Elections Web site still is not recording the true numbers in many cases as of this morning)

Clemens did make the charge that heavy hitter (OMG) Republicans were behind the Brandenburg campaign. If you look at the Brandenburg list of contributors you will see that many corporations gave money and many of the contributions were $500 each. Clemens' contributors seem to be more grassroots but he did have endorsements from many Unions and the PB Post. While he was Mayor of Lake Worth he sat on all the Union Pension Boards, some of the very same Unions that are now in talks with Lake Worth, a city in financial problems thanks to the Union contracts.

Now that Jeff Clemens has won his primary, let's take a look at some of his contributors. Don't these Lake Worth citizens care how Clemens messed up the City of Lake Worth, costing us millions of dollars? And what about the PB Post that always influences elections based on one interview? I guess not. They either don't care, don't know and therefore they are a big part of the problem. Mary Brandenburg who was term limited just did not want to relinquish the power and ran her husband in her place. That did not set well with a lot of the voters.

Some of the usual suspects and some who are "in the know" who voted for Clemens in spite of his dreadful record in Lake Worth--

John Deese ...$350
John Paxman (former Chair of P&Z)...$100
McMow Art Glass (Shanon Materio)...$250
Shanon Materio (former member CRA and now head of Businesses Aligned for Change to defeat Mulvehill and McVoy)...$50
Phil Spinelli (Vice Chair of P&Z) ...$200
Dave Vespo (former Commissioner District 4 and a big part of the problem) ...$200
Matt Tompkins (former Chair CRA)...$100
Brendan Lynch (former member CRA)...$100
John Pauly, Jr. (don't know what he's doing here, Democrat I guess)...$100
Herman Robinson (former member of P&Z)...$150
Padma Hinrichs (litigation attorney, lives in his College Park neighborhood)...$200
Brent Whitfield (Neighborhood Association President College Park) ...$200

Vote for Steven Rosenblum for House Rep District 89 in the General Election on November 2. He has not taken any money from special interests and he is not a career politician. He is a common sense fiscal conservative. He has not held elected office and is untainted.

Steve says that he would like to go to Tallahassee to represent the people, not special interests. He doesn't care which way the political wind is blowing and will legislate based on common sense and conservative principles.

Steve says, "I am a fiscal conservative who will fight to shrink the size and spending of government and keep it out of your way. I will work for an independent forensic audit of our state budget and advocate for zero-based budgeting, so that every department and agency will have to account for every dollar it requests each fiscal year. I have a quality that is painfully absent in many of those who currently serve in our government, common sense."
