Last night, Sid Dinerstein was the speaker at the Republican Club of Central Palm Beach County.

He touched on politics in his own city of around 50,000 in Palm Beach Gardens and their ballot issues, his lawsuit and the results. I was particularly interested in David Levy trying to become a council member again and the outcome of that as he fought us tooth and nail on Florida Hometown Democracy.

One of the more interesting things talked about was the race for Florida governor primary between Adam Putnam and Ron DeSantis. Mr. Dinerstein said that Roger Stone is behind the recent attack ads against Ron DeSantis. Why?  Because of the sugar industry.  DeSantis opposes taxpayer subsidies to big sugar and he voted against the farm bill. "The sugar candidate in the governor's race is clearly Adam Putnam. Agriculture commissioner Putnam is so closely aligned with the industry he would be comfy wearing candy wrapper suits," says the Tampa Bay Times.

Personally, I like both candidates and Adam Putnam is against sanctuary cities.  President Trump has endorsed Ron DeSantis.

So much for "Non-Partisan"

Year 2016 is going to be an important year. Not only will we be voting for a new president of the United States to ascertain whether our country will continue on its road of socialism or turn our country's direction back to capitalism and smaller government where we are all paddling our own canoe, Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher wants local municipalities to move their elections back by a week and set their qualifying times by December this year for the primary that is held in March 2016. This will affect Lake Worth, as three incumbents come up for re-election in March:  Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso. There very well could be another issue that the city wants on the ballot such as another Lake Worth 2020 bond. Local issues usually get lost on a large ballot as voters have to read all the way to the end to usually find local issues and candidates and many don't bother.

If you recall, former Lake Worth commissioner John Szerdi instigated the vote of this majority commission to change the qualifying time for candidates from one month to three months before the election.  So, we're already doing what Bucher has suggested as far as qualifying times. According to political consultant, Rick Asani, moving the qualifying time probably helps incumbents and candidates with more money. Luckily, this self-serving move didn't help Szerdi as his opponent, Ryan Maier, won by a landslide.

Vice Mayor of Lake Worth, Scott Maxwell, was quoted in the Palm Beach Post yesterday saying that more voters means more expense for candidates to reach them and he worries about the effect the partisan primaries will have on the non-partisan municipal races.

"The biggest concern is the partisan piece. We're supposed to be non-partisan," said Maxwell.

He didn't worry about partisan politics a few years ago. Remember the days when Tom Ramiccio was running for mayor again in Lake Worth? The Republican Party's Chair was called in for some heavy duty campaigning. Sid Dinerstein, who was the Chair of the Republican Party Palm Beach County at that time, was always poking his nose into Lake Worth politics thanks to a certain Republican commissioner. Dinerstein gave Tom $250 in a campaign contribution and helped campaign for Rene Varela, a Democrat, against Laurence McNamara by doing a robo call. Guess whose idea that was?

So much for "non-partisan."

Perhaps it's all that financial involvement years ago in local non-partisan elections such as in Lake Worth that did them in. Then there was an about face as they never helped Republican Steve Rosenblum with one dime against Jeff Clemens when he was running for House District 89. The Party blamed it all on Steve for not raising the money. We should have known something was going on then. Rosenblum had been trying to bring the Republican Party back to it’s conservative platform of lower taxes & smaller government by working from within the Party. We knew something was strange when the Republican Party did not help Mack Bernard, Democrat, when he ran against Clemens for Fl State Senator as he aligned more with their point of view.

With 249,715 registered Republican voters and 389,581 Registered Democrats in the county, you would think that some of these liberals would start seeing the light and you would especially think that registered Republicans in Palm Beach County would.

Sid Dinerstein will be stepping down as Chair of the Palm Beach County Republican Party after ten years. Democrats out number Republicans in this County by approximately 138,000. As a vast percentage of people vote per Party line, it has become more and more difficult to get Republicans elected. We elected a rock star in 2008 and people were unwilling to let him go.

Mr. Dinerstein has sometimes been controversial.  He made a robo call for former Lake Worth Mayor, Rene Varela, a Democrat, and he used his position to get Republicans elected such as Tom Ramiccio in Lake Worth where political races are non-partisan. He was always active and never backed down.

We continue to witness the escalating dependence on government. Democrats do not seem to worry about the growing debt and government's inability to climb out nor do they worry about the 47 million on welfare or the unemployed.  They pick on the 1% and have engaged in class warfare. Obama talks about creating jobs through wind and solar power, pipe dreams and wastes of money, instead of allowing us to become energy independent by developing the resources that we have. Republicans and Mr. Dinerstein know differently.

Demographics have changed because of social policy with more open border mentality that has brought the biggest Hispanic vote in history with 70% of them voting Democratic. A vast majority of people who live in Lake Worth believe that anything goes and God, conservative principles and sovereignty be damned. It's going to take four more years to finally awaken people to the mess and realize a leadership change at the top is exactly what's needed...if it's not too late.

Sid Dinerstein never gave up. And we won't either, Sid.

Obama pandering to Illegal vote

Flavia Franco of Lake Worth learned the news via text message--Obama had given backdoor amnesty to nearly 800,000 illegal immigrants.

Franco, 23, who has been volunteering for years with the Palm Beach Immigrant Coalition and Students Working for Equal Rights, said her 16-year-old brother, who came to the U.S. from Argentina at age 7, was recently told he couldn't join his high school football team because he didn't have a green card.

"There are hundreds of thousands of dreamers like my brother who will benefit now," she said. "Many of them want to study and they want to work and they want to give back what this country has given us."

What Obama did is probably about as legal as his birth certificate. It is Congress that makes the laws and Obama completely circumvented the legally elected representatives of our country in favor of illegal aliens. Who would have thought...

Sid Dinerstein has Solution to Run-Away Costs

Below is Mr. Dinerstein's Letter to the Editor in Sunday's newspaper. As it all hits home and is especially relative to Lake Worth, we are publishing the "unedited"version sent to us by Sid.

The second paragraph is particularly powerful and it is exactly what happened in Lake Worth. Elected officials forget who they represent. Mr. Dinerstein suggests cutting costs rather than raising taxes.


"This letter is in response to the editorial of September 16, To serve and protect budgets.

Last week we watched the annual county budget dance where we first threaten the (politically) weakest in the county, then watch as they tell their tales of woe, and finally wind up with our humanitarian Commissioners putting their hands ever deeper into our now shallow pockets to extract more guilt money.

I want to change the conversation. Today we have a mediocre county, awash in falling home prices and rising foreclosures. Our existing businesses can’t expand and prospective business owners won’t come here. The average property tax bill is $9,000 on the $400,000 house that can only be sold for $200,000.

My solution is the following: I propose we pay all Sheriff’s Department and Fire & Rescue personnel an average annual wage and benefit package of $100,000. This is at once extremely generous while also being well below the current pay packages of $120,000 (Sheriff’s Department) and $140,000 (Fire & Rescue). And while I realize that these employees are sometimes at great risk. I also realize that they don’t do it for the money. They do it because of their call to serve. In the event of a tragedy, no amount could ever compensate; not the $120,000 for the Deputy, not the $140,000 for the Fireman, not the $38,000 for the soldier in Iraq.

My $100,000 would immediately free up $140 MILLION in annual property tax relief. Now that’s a game changer. We could use $130 million for immediate and significant property tax relief and make every property instantly more valuable. We could protect the disabled bus riders and the swimming pool users. We could restore the Sheriff’s programs and hire more deputies, all without touching our reserves.

Palm Beach County has extraordinary potential, from our beautiful beaches to our bountiful harvests to our recreational lake. We have great weather and great wealth. This letter is a call for Leadership equal to the potential of our people and our geography."

The Robocalls i did for Rene were paid for personally, and I never mentioned my position as Republican Party Chairman. There were no Democrats in the race. HUH? But Rene WAS a Democrat. Republicans target non-partisan elections.

And that's the bottom line of it. Politics has become more sleazy than what we ever could have imagined or what we have ever known. A prime example of sleaze came from some who appeared last night before our City Commission, but that's another story.

Tonight is the night for the Tom Ramiccio fund raiser sponsored by the Republican Party. How can anyone compete with a national party sponsoring a candidate and all of that money? How? Local politics has now taken a whole new turn. What used to be contributions from the local citizenry has now catapulted into big money from movers and shakers.

While I was asking Scott Maxwell about this situation last night, he asked the question, "And don't you think that the Democrats are doing the same thing?" Actually I have not heard that the DEC has involved itself in fundraisers for local candidates in elections that are non-partisan. Perhaps they do. My problem is that any national Party would do this.

It is also the phoniness of the top dogs involved. Politicians can always justify their actions, right or wrong. Sid did it 1.5 years ago when he involved himself personally as the Chair of the Palm Beach County Republican Party by endorsing a Democrat. You can NOT divorce yourself from your position and Sid took an oath of office to support Republicans. He can support one on a personal level, but dragging in the entire Republican Party? Sid has set precedents in politics to a whole new low.

Katie McGiveron, Chair of Save Our Neighborhood, Inc. and a registered Republican was so incensed that she wrote the Party. Here are her e-mails and her reply from Sid Dinerstein, Chair of the PB County Republican Party who didn't even have the courtesy of addressing her e-mail TO her but rather in a CC. That was his own personal put-down to a Party member, all done in typical "Sid style."

Lake Worth elections are non-partisan. A candidate, when asked, can't even reveal his Party affiliation when he is campaigning. So, why then is The Republican Party making a full court press, bullying its way into Lake Worth and helping Republican Tom Ramiccio get elected?

National Party's should stay out of Lake Worth with their cash and corruption. The Republican Party of the Palm Beaches Chair, Sid Dinerstein, doesn't even know half the time what Party he is a member of when he helped Rene Varela, a Democrat and former mayor of Lake Worth, with a robo call on his behalf. Rene, of course, is the reason why we are having this special election and the one who forced the City to spend all of this money. Larry Winawer, campaign strategist, likes to use the words "You are a disgrace." The Republican Party that constantly bullies its way into Lake Worth IS a disgrace.

Karen Brill endorses Ramiccio

Karen Brill has endorsed candidate Tom Ramiccio according to his latest mailing I received yesterday. She must be a Republican. Sid Dinerstein, Chair of the Republican Party Palm Beach County, is always poking his nose into Lake Worth politics as well. He gave Tom $250 in a campaign contribution.

I did not endorse Karen Brill when she ran against Bill Graham for School Board District 3. Bill Graham was the only one who had guts to stand up to the truth.

Power does not corrupt. People corrupt power. They abuse it. We see it in both Parties, Democrats and Republicans alike. I recently wrote about Mark Alan Siegel of the Democratic Party. Today it is the Republican, Sid Dinerstein.

Sid Dinerstein is back in the news because he wants to become the Chair of the Republican Party State of Florida. First he must win back the seat at the County level. He now has a challenger to his State ambition, Ed Lynch, who has accused Dinerstein of disloyalty. Mr. Lynch cites several instances one of which was Dinerstein's robo call a little over one year ago on behalf of Democrat, Rene Varela. Varela was Chair of the Lake Worth Democratic Club prior to running for election. He should have known better. I got the call. No one is really sure who initiated Dinerstein's involvement. Some think it was Varela's father, a big Republican in Miami. Others believe it was Lake Worth Commissioner Scott Maxwell, a Republican who just wants to overthrow everything. But the fact remains, Dinerstein should not have been advocating for a Democrat...period.

When you are in a position of leadership such as Mr. Siegel and Mr. Dinerstein, you cannot resort to Party disloyalty. You should not be engaged in "dirty tricks."

Siegel backed off from his desire of State Party leadership. Mr. Dinerstein should as well.

Catch the Buzz for Allen West

Two months ago or so, and at the last minute, Allen West had a challenger in his race for Republican District 22 for Congress. No one ever heard of David Brady not even Sid Dinerstein, head of the Republican Party Palm Beach County. Where did he come from? Who was behind him? He raised zero funds that we know of. No one seems to know anything about the guy other than he is a builder. Let's ask the Democrats. Let's ask Ron Klein. He was put in the race to put a cog in the wheel...a thorn in the side of Col. Allen West. He was there to denigrate West. We know for a fact that there has been some sleazy tactics by Democrats in this campaign. The Palm Beach Post's liberal Editorial Board leaped on the left wheel of political diatribe and endorsed Brady. Now we see first-hand how a newspaper can influence an uninformed electorate.

Col. West, in spite of the Post's endorsement for Brady, an unknown by everyone (even himself), got 74.11% of the Republican vote. The Post mentioned West on page 5 of the local section not even bothering to give his percentage of win.

See what the buzz is all about and why Allen West is the Best and why we can no longer accept the status quo because it is NOT working. Democrats continue to blame it on Republicans when the fact of the matter is they are in control--continue on with their entitlement programs just adding $27 billion more to a Stimulus program that has failed. In fact, Congress has failed the American people.

We need a leader. We need a man with a real vision. We need Allen West.

Negative campaigning, dirty tricks and playing Gotcha

It's that time of year--get ready!

Every election cycle we have some residents who go over Treasury Reports with a fine toothed comb, looking for anything that might be a red-flag regarding improper or incomplete reporting. They play the vigorous game of “gotcha.” If they can’t find anything there, they look for ethics violations. They are determined to find something in order to bring the opposition down in order to prove dishonesty, lack of ethics, lack of integrity, that they are liars or worse, or just to play the sleazy game. They want to plant that seed of doubt in the minds of the voters. Sometimes these complaints are over stupid, petty things and sometimes the negative seed grows.

We even have the legitimate news media doing the same thing when it comes to reporting facts or their shallow endorsements, i.e., the Palm Beach Post. Afterall, it depends upon advertising dollars and they will do what's necessary to knock out a leading candidate they do not like. The free press is corrupt surviving in a corrupt system.

We had three residents (Lindsey, Pickett and Lynch) who filed an ethics complaint against Cara Jennings that went nowhere for using her power to intimidate a local downtown business from having the Maxwell Campaign hold a fund raiser because she charged that he was "racist." There are some who still believe that Scott is racist because of this. He isn't.

Then there was Lisa Maxwell, candidate in District 4 who is presently running against Commissioner Suzanne Mulvehill. She is a former long-time, shhhhhhh "lobbyist" for the building industry who filed her own complaint against Jennings regarding non-disclosure of a mortgage.

Several years back, there were four gals with a big vendetta. As I recall, they were Arevalo, Weber, Allen and Wright who got all over Marc Drautz for not having a disclaimer at the footer of a letter he mailed out. They were still fuming that 1) he beat out Rodney Romano 2) he supported the SuperMajority and 3) he really cared about the people. They filed individual complaints, virtually at the same time, with Tallahassee. This was considered a Minor Violation by the Elections Commission. Drautz ended up paying a $500 fine months after he had been defeated by Clemens. $500 was not minor to him.

Mary Brandenburg who is term-limited this year and presently our House Rep District 89 and campaign treasurer for her husband Pete, just filed a complaint against Jeff Clemens saying he under-reported the value of two fund-raising events. Tactically this was a very stupid move on Mary’s part. I would have thought that she would have been more politically astute. You could spout the Clemens record, deplorable enough, without filing a campaign violation. We could have forgiven you for "running" your husband. This "gotcha" might very well backfire on Brandenburg.

Just last year we all had to endure the sleazy tactics and lies with a campaign flier put out by the Dirty Dozen as well as robo calls made from the Lake Worth Fire Department phone line against candidate Laurence McNamara who was running against our now Mayor, Rene Varela. Last night I met Sid Dinerstein, head of the Republican Party here in Palm Beach County, who did a robo call on the behalf of Democrat Varela. Unorthodox to say the least. We are rather sure where this all originated. Of course, Varela denied knowledge of the incidents and the person behind the Dinerstein call will never admit to it.

We are all sick of negative campaigning, nit-picking and dirty tricks but secretly we love to see what's next. Who is going to body slam whom. This year we have seen more of it than any other in recent memory from candidates with unlimited personal funds. People are also disgusted with the "gotchas." Now we have Democrats running as Tea Party candidates in order to split the vote.

We have Jeff Greene, some sort of billionaire and buying his way into office, calling Kendrick Meek “corrupt” and saying there should be a criminal investigation. Kendrick Meek, Congressman now running for the U.S. Senate, is the son of the great Carrie Meek who was the granddaughter of slaves and also was our Congresswoman from Florida. Greene also said that Meek sold out the Seniors.

Then there is Dan Gelber running against Dave Aronberg who is a Harvard graduate in Government, accusing him of voting with those "dreaded" Republicans and calling him anti-consumer.

We have all witnessed the vilification of Col. Allen West by the Democrats and the left-winged media. Last night he showed us two Klein fliers that were mailed to his house full of lies.

As the negative ads appear on TV, we say, "oh no, not him again," or we hunt for the remote to mute or click them off just like the voters will do this November. We soon will see anti-Amendment 4 ads. Click them off too. These people behind the lies have more money than sense coming from special interests groups that are only interested in their self-enrichment.

Adlai Stevenson said, "Those who corrupt the public mind are just as evil as those who steal from the public purse."

Just like Kenny Chesney's song, "You had me from hello," Sid said, "You had me from the first lunch." And that's how it has been for all of us who have had the pleasure of meeting and listening to Allen West.
