Publix Pet Policy

Ever since Publix incorporated their "pet" policy, I have not seen any until now. While waiting for a chicken tender dinner, this customer brought in his cute little dog: Pet? ESA? Service dog? Who the h*ll knows.

Are Service Dogs Allowed in Publix?

Publix recognizes and welcomes all service dogs who are trained to accompany their handler into their stores and will even provide personal shopping assistance for individuals with disabilities. They ask that service dogs are fully trained (service dogs who are still in training may not legally be considered service dogs until training is complete) and able to behave in the store in such a way that doesn’t disturb or put other shoppers at risk.

Are Emotional Support Animals (ESA) Allowed in Publix?

Emotional support animals (ESAs) aren’t allowed in Publix. Unfortunately for individuals who get support from ESAs, emotional support animals aren’t protected by public access laws under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and travel under the Department of Transportation (DOT) in the same way that service dogs are. This is one of the main differences between emotional support dogs and service dogs along with training.

While service dogs and other service animals must be individually trained to perform tasks that provide support to their handlers, emotional support animals provide support with little other than their presence and affection.

Are Dogs on a Leash Allowed in Publix? Dogs on a leash are allowed in Publix only if they are service dogs.

Demetrius Cullar Hit and Run Victim

Every time I go to Publix downtown Lake Worth I ask about Demetrius who was hit by a car that left the scene. He was severely injured and now at home recovering. I was told it will take him another two months of recovery.

Demetrius says, it occurred in Lantana, FL on Sunday, September 4, 2022. "I was simply driving myself home and shockingly I was struck from behind and the suspect left me for dead! I was transported to the ICU section of a local Trauma Center. I'm in excruciating pain 24 hours a day and I've endured injuries in every part of my body from the top of my head to the sole of my feet."

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help this wonderful employee with his medical expenses.

Publix at 7am - Senior Day

Publix at 7am...1st day for Seniors--Tues and Wed from 7am to 8am. Now, when I got in there, they were almost out of toilet paper. I saw people with two packages in their carts. One customer was wearing a mask. I cruised the aisles singing "Crazy."

National Quarantine being considered

White House Mulling Two-Week National Quarantine, Everything Closed But Grocery Stores

We might find out about this early in the week.

This wouldn't bother me a bit just as long as the grocery stores have supplies...which they haven't planned well for lately...either that or people are hoarding.

Publix's store hours are temporarily being adjusted to 8am-8pm and the in-store pharmacy hours from Monday through Saturday will be adjusted to 9am-6pm, with normal pharmacy hours on Sunday. Don't forget...starting Tuesday, March 24, Seniors over 65 can shop on Tuesday and Wednesdays from 7am to 8am.

Hogg - The Bully

The face you would like to smack

The kid is being promoted by the liberal left. He is against the Constitution, blames the NRA for school shootings, feels empowered by all the liberals egging him on, goes after Publix for a campaign donation to Adam Putnam and then Publix decides to suspend political donations. He went after Laura Ingraham on Fox News. Now he wants a "die-in" at a Trump hotel.

Hogg wants the age of gun ownership upped to 21 but in 47 states, the age of majority and the age at which a person has the legal rights and responsibilities of an adult—is 18. You can vote at age 18. If you are considered legally responsible at the age of 18, then why up the age for certain gun ownership? Why listen to the bully kid at all?

Publix gets Political

This might be one of the publications that drove Publix to cover up the National Enquirer in its stores. By putting a shield in front of the tabloid/newspaper, it appeased their surly liberals who shop there.

Does anyone really believe Publix's statement that it covered up The National Enquirer in its stores because of inappropriate pictures and language? They say they got numerous complaints and recently decided to permanently cover the National Enquirer. The real problem was that in March, The National Enquirer endorsed Trump for president.

Read about it...and a grocery store chain now being political.

Town & Country Shopping Center

Comment Up

The Publix Sabor in the Town and Country Shopping Plaza at 1910 Lake Worth Road  closed the day after Christmas.

Now Radio Shack has filed Chapter 11 and is closing. Sprint and Standard General a hedge fund agreed to buy 1,500 to 2,400 of RadioShack’s 4,000 company-owned stores in the United States. Sprint is expected to run special “store within a store” departments in up to 1,750 of those stores. This brings to mind that any corporation in these times is not safe from bankruptcy--John Szerdi brought up the fact that Siemens has been around for 169 years suggesting their  stability as one good reason for doing business with them. In most cases this would be true but who would have thought Radio Shack would bite the dust?

Hurry in to shop while inventory lasts...not much left.

Publix Lake Worth Road

Comment Up

Back in 2003, the Town & Country Plaza in the 1900 block of Lake Worth Road was remodeled. It consists of 81,722 square feet of building area on approximately 8.3 acres of ground leased land. Town and Country Plaza is anchored by Publix/Sabor brand supermarket, catering to the Latin community. And that was Publix's first mistake.

When Publix changed to a different desired  market, employees were hired who spoke in Spanish. Food isle signs were also erected in English and Spanish. No one could ever find anything. Publix did nothing to retain the loyal shopper it had through all the years.  Citizens who had supported this store and made it the success that it was began to shop elsewhere--Publix in Lantana or the one on 2nd Avenue in Lake Worth. This store had been opened since 1969 when I first went there and always had a steady, loyal clientele.  They ended up attracting the immigrant, some of whom were illegal, and many citizens moved on.

After talking to the owners, I.M.C. Property Management, that acquired the shopping center for $4.2 million in 2013,  I can only gather that this was a recent Publix business decision and they were taken by surprise.  At the moment lawyers on both sides are going over the Lease, etc.  The gentleman with whom I spoke, assured me that there will be another food store in that shopping center and he agrees, without one, it will be devastating for their investment overall.

One thing that we do know, the store will be closed at the end of December, in spite of the legalities, and employees and long time shoppers aren't happy with Publix's decision.

Theft on North Dixie Lake Worth

SHOPLIFTING--14060037--200 BLOCK N DIXIE HWY--Palm Beach County Sheriff--4/10/2014 2:27:00 PM

There is no way of telling where these incidents took place but it is very possible it could be Publix, a store that does experience a lot of theft and shoplifting not only in Lake Worth but across the State. Florida Statutes addresses this if you are accused of stealing--

772.11 Civil remedy for theft or exploitation.— (1) Any person who proves by clear and convincing evidence that he or she has been injured in any fashion by reason of any violation of ss. 812.012-812.037 or s. 825.103(1) has a cause of action for threefold the actual damages sustained and, in any such action, is entitled to minimum damages in the amount of $200, and reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs in the trial and appellate courts. Before filing an action for damages under this section, the person claiming injury must make a written demand for $200 or the treble damage amount of the person liable for damages under this section. If the person to whom a written demand is made complies with such demand within 30 days after receipt of the demand, that person shall be given a written release from further civil liability for the specific act of theft or exploitation by the person making the written demand...Read more...

Right in your face - Crime in Lake Worth

Comment Up

At 2:20 today, one of our area homeless left Publix at 214 N. Dixie with a cart load of items.  He was stopped by the security guard, the sheriff was called and he got a warning.  But guess what--he was NOT charged for the crime of shoplifting but rather given a citation for trespassing.  If he comes on the property again, for any reason, he will be arrested.

As he was walking down the street, he threw the citation on the ground.  It was picked up by an interested bystander who informed the homeless gentleman that he had dropped it.  He said that he didn't need it; he would be back tomorrow to do the same thing.

Homeless near Publix

Comment Up
Taken yesterday at 5am...still there at 8am...M. Hill photo

The Homeless are sleeping and hanging out near our downtown Publix, you know the very building that the Lake Worth CRA gave Publix $500,000 to "ensure" its development and where residents could have a classy place to shop. No one, including the sheriff, is doing anything about this growing problem.
