Justice Gorsuch addresses those who want to reshape the Supreme Court

Justice Gorsuch pushes back on court-packing critics: the Supreme Court is 'working'

Justice Neil Gorsuch has a message for Democrats and reform advocates who want to reshape the Supreme Court: the institution works just fine, and tampering with it carries real danger.

The Trump-appointed justice defended the Court's role and independence during a recent public appearance, pushing back directly against calls for structural overhaul that have intensified since the Court's conservative majority began issuing landmark rulings on abortion, presidential immunity, and the administrative state.

The Hill reported on Gorsuch's remarks, which came as political pressure on the Court shows no sign of easing.

The comments land at a moment when the Court's legitimacy has become a partisan flashpoint. Progressive lawmakers and advocacy groups have spent years calling for everything from term limits to expanding the bench.

Former President Biden went further, proposing a three-part reform package that would strip former presidents of criminal immunity, impose term limits on justices, and create a binding ethics code for the Court.

Gorsuch's warning to Biden--

In earlier remarks covered by the Washington Examiner, Gorsuch directly cautioned Biden against pursuing those reforms. He declined to fully engage the specifics, noting that the proposals are political matters tied to a presidential election year. But he still delivered a pointed warning.
"And so I just say, be careful."

The Centration of Power in the hands of so few does not tend toward sound government.

Supreme Court’s Gorsuch Blasts ‘Breathtaking’ Pandemic Decrees

US Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch blasted the “breathtaking scale” of emergency decrees issued by state and federal officials during the pandemic, calling them a historic threat to freedom.

In an eight-page statement that accompanied a routine order, Gorsuch decried lockdowns, school and church closures and vaccine requirements, casting them as fear-induced overreactions that could drive a slide toward autocracy.

“Since March 2020, we may have experienced the greatest intrusions on civil liberties in the peacetime history of this country,” he wrote.

"Shocking and Terrible" said Justice Kagan

Justices Kagan, Gorsuch hint Supreme Court leak update could come by end of September

The Supreme Court leak investigation has gone on for months with few updates

Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Neil Gorsuch have hinted that there could be an update as soon as the end of the month on the investigation into the leaked draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade.

Kagan made an appearance Tuesday at the Temple Emanu-El's Streicker Center in New York and said she expects justices to be updated on the investigation by the end of the month. Gorsuch also mentioned the leak inquiry last week, saying the committee overseeing the investigation has been hard at work, and he hopes to see it conclude "soon."

"I don’t know anything. I suspect my colleagues don’t know anything, except for the chief justice maybe, about what the investigation has turned up, if anything," Justice Kagan said after saying she expects an update soon.

The Census Question on Citizenship

This Supreme Court Case Threatens the Left’s View of Group Identity, Victimhood

In reference to the Census, "available citizenship data will allow jurisdictions to apportion and redistrict seats according to voter, or citizen population, not total population, as they are constitutionally entitled to do. That would, for example, prevent liberal districts from swelling their numbers by adding populations of non-voting non-citizens or even illegal immigrants."

Although every liberal group has made arguments against adding a citizenship question on the census, Justice Neil Gorsuch said last Fall that "“Most censuses in our history have asked about citizenship.”

Ideally, we shouldn't have political judges, but we do

Chief Justice Roberts Is Wrong. We Do Have Obama Judges and Trump Judges

"If we do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, then why did Senate Republicans block President Barack Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia in the final year of Obama's term? And why did Democrats filibuster Trump's nominee, Neil Gorsuch, to fill Scalia's seat?"

And the most nasty example of how political a judge's appointment can be is Brett Kavanaugh. This showed to the American people that it is all political and that Democrats can play the dirtiest game to ensure that their philosophy will represent them on the court.

Supreme Court Rejects Appeal on Concealed Weapons carry

The U.S. Supreme Court has once again ruled against the Second Amendment by refusing to loosen restrictions on carrying a gun in public.

SCOTUS rejected an appeal that was made by gun-rights advocates in California that would’ve allowed folks to carry a concealed weapon without needing to show a special reason for doing so.
According to Bloomberg, Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch said the high court should have heard the case.

Democrats just keep obstructing and playing games

[Paul Ryan] In yet another showing of petty defiance, Democrats have succeeded in getting the votes they need to filibuster Judge Gorsuch's nomination to the Supreme Court.

Why are they obstructing his nomination? Because he's President Trump's nominee.

The fact is, no one is more qualified than Judge Gorsuch to fill the late Justice Scalia's seat. Our nation needs Judge Gorsuch on the bench. But the Democrats would rather play politics than do what's best for the country.
