Dr. Fauci to be investigated by State of Florida

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier to investigate Fauci

He announced Wednesday that his office is opening an investigation into former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, hours after Fauci repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment during a contentious Senate hearing on the federal government's COVID-19 response.

"Fauci's lack of candor to Congress is unbelievable," Uthmeier wrote on X shortly after the hearing ended.
"My office is launching an investigation into Dr. Fauci. It's past time we get the truth of what happened during COVID."

On his final day in office, former President Joe Biden granted Fauci a full and unconditional pardon covering any federal offenses committed in connection with his government service between Jan. 1, 2014, and Jan. 19, 2025.

While that pardon shields Fauci from federal prosecution for covered conduct, it does not prevent state-level investigations or prosecutions, making Uthmeier's inquiry the first announced by a state attorney general.

Florida AG calls for impeachment after judge acquits mother who killed baby and blamed COVID

Precious Bland of Miami drowned her 15-month-old daughter Emii in a bathtub on Aug. 23, 2021, then proceeded to stab her husband — who attempted to save the infant — in the head and neck. When her stepdaughter tried to grab the drowned toddler, Bland slashed her, then proceeded to cut her own wrists.

According to a police report reviewed by CourtTV, Bland's husband told police that the killer had been ranting about how "COVID is going to kill us all," how Christ's return was imminent, and how she wanted to baptize her family in the bathtub.

'I’m sure that my family is very vigilant now.'

Bland, who subsequently spent four years in jail and additional time on house arrest while awaiting trial, was initially charged with murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, and two counts of aggravated child abuse.

On Tuesday, Miami-Dade Judge Miguel Manuel de la O of the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida found the 43-year-old mother — who admitted to killing her child — not guilty of aggravated manslaughter and first-degree attempted murder by reason of insanity.

Florida Supreme Court dismisses adult-use marijuana advisory case

"The Supreme Court of Florida on Wednesday dismissed a case seeking an advisory opinion on a proposed constitutional amendment that would have legalized adult personal use of marijuana, formally ending the measure’s path to the 2026 ballot.

In a brief order, the court accepted Attorney General James Uthmeier’s notice of voluntary dismissal, canceled scheduled oral arguments and closed the case without ruling on the proposal’s merits.

Six justices concurred, while Justice Jorge Labarga dissented without a written explanation.

The case stemmed from Florida’s constitutionally required pre-election review process for citizen-initiated constitutional amendments. Under that process, the Attorney General must ask the Supreme Court to determine whether a proposed amendment complies with the single-subject requirement and whether its ballot title and summary are clear and not misleading.

The dismissal follows the Florida Department of State’s determination this month that no citizen-led initiatives, including the adult-use marijuana proposal, submitted enough verified signatures to qualify for the 2026 ballot. Without sufficient signatures, the advisory opinion process effectively became moot, prompting the Attorney General to withdraw the request for review.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier called for revoking a Boca Raton labor and delivery nurse’s license after a viral TikTok targeted White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

The call followed a video in which the nurse wished severe childbirth injuries on Leavitt, prompting termination by her employer in Florida.

The nurse was identified as Alexis “Lexie” Lawler in prior reports. The video showed Lawler using explicit language while speaking about Leavitt.

Lawler was fired from Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital after the video circulated. Baptist Health confirmed the termination.

"A Palm Beach County couple is accused of stealing approximately $31,000 worth of merchandise in the span of two months.

On Tuesday, Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrest of Caleb Rashaun Frederick, 29, and Ne’osha Lasha Taylor, 29, in connection with 40 documented thefts across Palm Beach and Broward counties, after an investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Uthmeier says between Sept. 3 and Nov. 14, the couple targeted chains like Publix, Walgreens, Dollar General, Winn-Dixie, Walmart, Target, Macy’s, BJ’s Wholesale and JCPenney, and allegedly took mostly household appliances and laundry products, which they would then sell on Facebook Marketplace.

He says they coordinated the thefts together, with one allegedly acting as a lookout and one stealing merchandise.

Frederick is being charged with one count of organized retail theft, five counts of dealing in stolen property and one county of false verification of ownership. Taylor is charged with one count of organized retail theft and four counts of dealing in stolen property.

“These types of thefts burden Florida’s families by driving up prices as stores try to cover their losses,” said Uthmeier, who last month announced an investigative retail theft task force to crack down on organized theft in Florida." [WFLX]

California passed a law in 2013 that allows residents to obtain driver’s licenses regardless of their immigration status.

Think about that for a second – California politicians decided that foreign nationals who broke federal law to get into our country should be rewarded with the privilege of operating motor vehicles on American roads.

And it gets worse.

This same broken system allowed Singh to get a commercial driver’s license to operate massive trucks, even though he couldn’t understand basic English road signs.

The state of California essentially handed a loaded weapon to someone who had no business being in this country, let alone driving a truck that can kill entire families.

James Uthmeier sworn in as Florida's next attorney general after appointment by Gov. Ron DeSantis

The position has been vacant since the governor appointed former Attorney General Ashley Moody last month to take over the open U.S. Senate seat following Marco Rubio's confirmation as U.S. secretary of state.

Uthmeier, 37, has been DeSantis' chief of staff since 2021. He previously served as general counsel to the governor.

"This was not a very difficult decision for me to put James as the next attorney general because I know he's got the foundation," DeSantis said.

Uthmeier was sworn in just after 10 a.m. during a ceremony at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum in Tallahassee.
