10 Years later, some things never change

A memory from when the city conspired against the residents

SHOCK III: Committee Conspired to Keep Beach Build Plans from Residents to Get Szerdi Re-elected

The Lake Worth Tribune By Margaret Menge

"In an audio recording of its February 10, 2015 meeting, members of the ITN Committee are heard conspiring to keep plans to build at the beach from the public to make sure John Szerdi would win re-election to the City Commission.

“I would recommend we do not have any kind of public meeting until after the election,” said William Waters, a city employee who oversees the building and code compliance departments. “If we have a public meeting, and it gets out (unintelligible)….you can say goodbye to Szerdi,” he said.

Commissioner Andy Amoroso, the Commission’s liaison to the ITN Committee, quickly agreed, saying, “Absolutely, you cannot do this before…”

News of Hudson Holdings’ proposal to build a convention center and private beach club at the Lake Worth beach did get out before the election – after Steve Michael of Hudson Holdings met with owners of the Gulfstream Condominiums in late February and Commissioner Christopher McVoy happened to be in the room. McVoy took detailed notes of the meeting, and provided them to the Tribune, which published a story just two weeks before the election.

As it turned out, John Szerdi lost his re-election bid on March 10, 2015 to first-time candidate Ryan Maier by a 20-percent margin, winning just 37 percent of the vote to Maier’s 57 percent." And did they ever give Ryan Maier a hard time after that..drove him out of town eventually.

Now the city, with a memory like an elephant and still wanting to screw up our beach and city, is doing that same thing in a ballot initiative.

Vote NO on Amendments 2 & 3 on March 10, 2026. We want to keep our historic beach and small town.

Trump's Appearance at RNC

Written on his face: Trump a changed man after assassination attempt

Viewers taken aback by Trump's appearance at RNC Convention: Eyes and smile reveal a man whose brush with death has had a dramatic effect on him

By: Margaret Menge
Jul 17, 2024

The moment he appeared on camera on the floor of the RNC Convention on Monday evening, viewers could see that former President Donald Trump had been deeply affected by his close brush with death just 48 hours earlier, and likely forever changed.

He stood alone at first, before walking onto the floor, and the smile that spread across his face was almost a wistful smile. Wiped from his face was all pride and quickness, replaced by a softness, humility, and deep humanity.

His posture was not fundamentally different, nor was the way he held his head. Yet in his countenance, his movements and the entire force field around him, there was something entirely different — a softness that we have never seen before on him.

As the sound of applause rose up from the crowd of Republican delegates at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Trump seemed close to tears — though anyone writing such a thing could easily be accused of projection as what could be perceived by the senses was not enough to prove the truth of this statement. All that could be said was that something about his face, something indescribable, had passed over it.

Maricopa Election a Farce

Voters blast Maricopa County board of supervisors over 2022 election, call for nullification and redo with paper ballots

Election was a charade and tainted, speakers said, given that tabulators were malfunctioning in 20% of vote centers and ballots repeatedly rejected.

One of the first people to give public comment at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Nov. 16 was a poll worker who said she almost got escorted out of poll worker training for questioning why they couldn’t ask if someone was bringing in ballots for people other than themselves and their immediate family, which would be illegal under state law.

“I was told, ‘You may not ask. This is our policy. You may not ask,” she said. “I questioned that, and I was told I was being disruptive and almost escorted out of class.”

Elections Stolen

The secret to how Dems steal elections was revealed by an Arizona whistleblower in 2020

Anonymous letter sent to all state legislators and the DOJ told of secret meeting where Democrat leaders said 35,000 fraud votes would be added to every Dem candidate

If they did it then, there is a huge possibility that they did it again on November 8, 2022.

The best female candidate for a major political office the Republican Party has probably ever fielded is running behind the Democratic candidate, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs … who refused to debate, in an election in which 72 percent of voters say the country is on the wrong track.

Masks are "stupid," said Margaret

School Board meeting interrupted as parent speaker refuses to wear mask

A lot of you will remember Margaret. She is a former resident of Lake Worth and had her own fabulous newspaper. Actually, I agree with Margaret on masks.

"Monroe County Community School Corporation resource officer motioned Margaret Menge out of a school board meeting after she refused to follow indoor masking protocols. The affair sparked a recess during the Aug. 24, 2021 meeting at the Administration Center on 315 E. North Drive."

What I don't agree with is her decision to delete this on her Facebook page. I thought reporters were into facts! Most people would think she was a hero standing up for her beliefs and the truth about face masks.

Margaret Menge: Families struggle with pandemic blues as many schools remain closed

"Things will get better soon, moms tell each other. But headlines — from Chicago, where the teachers union has adamantly refused to return to work; to Nashua, N.H., where desperate parents are mounting a recall effort to remove pro-union members from the school board — offer little hope schools will reopen."

Magaret and her son Clayton used to be residents of Lake Worth (Beach). Margaret owned and wrote the Lake Worth Tribune that disseminated honest facts on Lake Worth, especially about those running for and in office. It was a huge endeavor to launch a newspaper in this town and politics, that has always been a blood sport, got in the way.

Margaret Menge's latest article on voter fraud

Voter fraud is happening all of the time and you can bet that Democrats are figuring out every way possible to win 2020.

You all remember Margaret when she started her newspaper in Lake Worth in 2015 with her investigative reports. It was a sensation at the time. Some residents were so upset that they went around and picked up her newspaper throwing them all in the nearest dumpster. Truth was a hard thing to swallow back then...still is today.

Here's to a happy life for Margaret and Clayton in their new home. We miss you guys!

Bon Voyage to Margaret

Last night, a few of Margaret Menge's friends gathered to wish her good-bye. She and her son Clayton are re-locating to Indiana.

Naturally, a lot of our discussion was on Lake Worth. Dennis Dorsey, former mayor of Lake Worth, is a living Lake Worth history book. Chad Drake was there and it was mentioned that his grandfather was the 2nd mayor of Lake Worth. We talked about the old Lake Worth and how great it was back then with middle class families and tourists and retirees bringing their money to help Lake Worth prosper. Lake Worth was a small town then and literally you knew everyone you passed on the street. There was no such thing as slum and blight and you never heard of crime. You didn't even have to lock your doors.

Truth in Journalism - Doesn't exist in local Tabloid

Comment Up

Not only were the lies outrageous during this past election regarding Ryan Hartman and all the candidates running against the incumbents (lumping them all as anarchists or worse, even this blogger), and blown 100% out of reality, our local news "reporter/editor" was a part of the hateful and deceitful conspiracy to divide this city even further than it already was.

The trio, with professional guidance, reached into the soul of people and their basic fears and anxieties by over exaggeration, downright lies and character assassinations telling us if we did not re-elect the Trio, our lives and city would be doomed to slum, blight, crime and trouble. Their lies worked with the biggest landslide of recent memory.

Pelican Pete, who has been drinking the Kool-Aid back as far as I can remember, published his paper this week that mocks the Earth First group that he previously reported would be here for the Hartman campaign with its sole purpose of helping an anarchist. Scads of people were to be here even registering to vote. Of course, and as usual, there was no truth to his wild and twisted suggestion. But he ran with it and perhaps believed it but personally maligned a candidate.

Today he prints in his loony bird column: "By the way, this bird hasn't seen the musical supposedly being made in February, you know the one that called for people from all over to come to Lake Worth and sleep under the stars. The one that would like people with strong telephone experience to perform in.  Have you?  Didn't think so."

Sorry you missed it, Mr. Pelican.
Play performed by environmentalists' family and children

Can we ever get truth in journalism from our local newspaper?  When a newsman writes a story, he should be interviewing both sides in order to report honestly and fairly. This rarely happens here. Take his Christopher McVoy crack in this week's editorial calling him "less than honest." I would bet any amount of money on it that he never talked to Commissioner McVoy about the topic at hand (dinner meetings behind locked doors) nor does he talk to him about any matter. He listens to his preferred Trio.

The bird must have failed Reporting 101. Accuracy is essential if journalism is to inform the public debate. A news story needs to be balanced and representative of the widest opinion base in order to protect credibility. This is why Margaret Menge was so good at what she does and why she was so feared by this side of politicos in this city and why they brought her down. Honesty in journalism has little chance to survive here.

But this is all written by a political bird, so accuracy, credibility and honesty be damned.

Quote of the Day - Margaret Menge

Comment Up
Wes Blackman is working for Hudson Holdings and has been since last year. Wes, you should have disclosed this long ago. Your dishonesty and deceit is absolutely breathtaking. The public needs to know who else posting on these pages has taken money from Hudson Holdings or stands to personally benefit in some other way from giving our beach away to a private developer.

The above was found on Lake Worth Voice Facebook page. Once Margaret posted, many there immediately went into attack mode even the Facebook page monitor. Truth is hard to take.
