Alligator Alcatraz

'Alligator Alcatraz' proposed by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier to house Illegals

WPTV has reported this year on the overcrowded conditions at the Krome North Processing Center in Miami-Dade County, described by a nonprofit as "hellish," as federal authorities continue the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

Now, Florida's attorney general believes he has an idea that could help the state carry out President Donald Trump's "mass deportation agenda."

In a Thursday afternoon post on X, Attorney General James Uthmeier called for the construction of a detention facility in the Everglades that he labeled "Alligator Alcatraz."

Uthmeier said the "virtually abandoned" Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport, located in the Big Cypress Wildlife Management Area, is 39 square miles with a 10,500-foot runway.

Uthmeier said Gov. Ron DeSantis tasked state leaders to identify places for new temporary detention facilities.

Thief swapped out price tags at Lake Worth Art Gallery

Thief stole art from Lake Worth Gallery

Gary Kroman is a Palm Beach County artist who sells his work in a boutique downtown. On Aug. 10, Kroman said a man entered the business on 700 block of Lake Avenue in Lake Worth Beach and switched price tags from his gallery.

Now, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies are in the hunt for the suspect. They said the thief took $6,500 worth of Kroman’s artwork and only paid about $50.

“It feels like someone punched you in the stomach and the air went out of you," stated Kroman. "It took a lot time to do, it’s an important piece.” [WPTV]

This YouTube has terrible audio from Mr. Kroman but you will get the idea of what happened to him and photo of thief.

"I thought the pier was going to blow away"

Just for the fun of it:' People watch waves, wind at Lake Worth Beach

At Benny's on the Beach in Lake Worth Beach, Palm Beach County residents watched as the storm rolled in on Saturday afternoon.

"I came out here to get some food and some drinks with my cousin and see the rain from the pier, honestly. That's why we came here," Brian Kiewicz said. "Tornado, hurricane conditions, honestly, like, I thought the pier was going to blow away."

The city of Lake Worth Beach closed the pier for the weekend, citing the inclement weather.

Heavy winds and large surf are also why lifeguards throughout Palm Beach County flew double red flags Saturday, closing the water to swimmers.

The Cost of Illegal Immigration

DeSantis sending migrants to Martha's Vineyard is 'political stunt,' Lake Worth Maya Center  says

Guatemalan Maya Center doesn't think this will effect immigration pattern

WPTV

Why this group doesn't see a problem encouraging immigrants to break our laws is the real political stunt of the decade. Why they believe that citizens of this country should be picking up the tab for illegals, who are criminals for breaking our immigration laws, is a big part of the problem in our city as swell as in the country.

"We think it's very much a political stunt right now," said Assistant Executive Director Mariana Blanco. "We don't anticipate this will have any real effects right now on the immigration patterns that we are seeing, but certainly, if it continues to pose threats to the people we are serving, the community that we love, we have no issue starting litigation or suing the governor for his tactics."

Top 10 Highest Illegal Immigration Costs By State 2022:

-California--$21.76 Bn -New York--$9.48 Bn -Texas--$8.88 Bn -Florida--$5.46 Bn -Illinois--$4.59 Bn -New Jersey--$3.48 Bn -Arizona--$2.57 Bn -Georgia--$2.40 Bn -North Carolina--$2.06 Bn -Virginia--$1.91 Bn

George Floyd PROTEST in Lake Worth (Beach)

Group of protesters gather in Lake Worth Beach, 2 people attempt to burn American flag

"A group gathered Saturday afternoon at Lake Worth Beach City Hall to protest the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police.

During the protest, two people pulled the American flag from the flagpole, tore it, and attempted to ignite it in front of the CVS near City Hall.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies retrieved the destroyed flag and will dispose of it with a proper burial. Why didn't those who stole our flag and then burn it get arrested?

The crowd departed City Hall, moved down Lake Avenue, then traveled to Bryant Park." [WPTVChannel 5]

What was advertised as a "vigil" for George Floyd, is mentioned in the WPTV article as a "protest." I can't understand the mayor lending her name to such an event but can certainly understand Mark Parrilla as being a part of a protest.

The Lake Worth "Players" - Atlanta Braves

Comment Up

WPTV on County Commission Meeting (click this link to see video) by Gabrielle Sarann who was there for hours yesterday.

Commissioner Scott Maxwell from Lake Worth led the charge for ruining a county park. Backed by special interests--union contractors, downtown merchants, Benny's on the Beach's Lee Lipton, Dave from Dave's Last Resort and even Callaros owner, Beth Scragg. Callaros is where all the Lake Worth upper management have lunch. It's been suggested that the city runs a tab. Dolores Key was on the job sent by the city to accompany Scott Maxwell. She is the Economic Development Director for Lake Worth.

Lake Worth likes to tell you that this is a Palm Beach County decision but the city manager, Michael Bornstein and staff along with the city commission have been lobbying and working hard to achieve this end even dinner meetings at City Place.

Katie McGiveron, President of ROLO Neighborhood Association, an area that lies adjacent to John Prince Park.

Not once has she been contacted by her District Commissioner, Scott Maxwell, regarding her neighborhood and the affects that a national Spring training baseball facility would impose--not only on those living there but all the quality of life in general for all living creatures.

Last night, the entire Trio that supports developers and businesses over people in single family residences, passed a resolution in support of the Atlanta Braves coming to John Prince Park with dreams (fantasies) of riches for Lake Worth. All three gave excuses as to why they haven't contacted ROLO--No one invited them, they said.
