One of the crown jewels of Obama’s green energy agenda is shutting down.

Former President Barack Obama boasted that his government would create green jobs in the aftermath of the Great Recession. His administration wasted hundreds of billions of dollars trying to fundamentally transform the country with green energy.

The Ivanpah Solar Power Facility in the Mojave Desert in California was built with $1.6 billion in loan guarantees from the Obama administration in 2011 after it was given public land to build on.

Ivanpah opened in 2014 when it became the world’s largest solar thermal station.

Then-Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz called it “a shining example of how America is becoming a world leader in solar energy.”

Now, the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility may shut down at the end of the year after Pacific Gas & Electric, a California power company, announced that it would no longer buy electricity from the plant.
