Vivek Ramaswamy Suffers Painful Loss to Amy Acton in Ohio Governor's Race
Democrat Amy Acton notched a massive victory on Tuesday, defeating Republican Vivek Ramaswamy in the Ohio gubernatorial raceDespite being a swing state for decades, Ohio began breaking right back in 2016 when then-candidate Donald Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton by more than eight points. Trump won it again in 2020 by eight points, and most recently in 2024 by over 11 points while running against Kamala Harris.
Vice President J.D. Vance also hails from Ohio and was easily elected to the U.S. Senate from his home state in 2022. Ramaswamy ran in the 2024 GOP presidential primaries before dropping out to endorse Trump. After Trump’s 2024 victory, he quickly pivoted his focus to the Ohio governor’s race.
A controversial ad featuring Acton’s estranged mother, Donna Arthur, was reportedly pulled off the air by Ramaswamy last week after it seemed to backfire with voters. In the ad, Acton’s mom called her a “lifetime liar” and told Ohioans not to support her candidacy.>br />
