3-year-old found in truck after driver allegedly failed to stop for FHP on I-95
A 3-year-old was in the truck as her father allegedly continued driving after troopers activated their lights and sirens during a stop on I-95 near Boynton Beach, according to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report. The report identifies the driver as Jeremiah Baxter, 29. It says troopers responded after the Lake Worth Regional Communications Center relayed a caller’s report that a black Dodge Ram was swerving, traveling without headlights and being driven by someone who appeared to be drinking and using a phone.
A second trooper moved in front of the truck, and Baxter stopped. The first trooper drew a firearm and repeatedly ordered Baxter to show his hands, the report says. Troopers allege Baxter refused commands to show his hands and get out of the truck, then resisted as they removed and handcuffed him.
Baxter was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. He faces four misdemeanor charges: failure to obey a lawful order, resisting an officer without violence, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also received a civil traffic citation for driving at night without headlights or taillights.
