Evening Sky 11-4-26

David Robert Davidson reads the midterm results as the opening of a prolonged confrontation between President Trump and congressional Democrats. He predicts investigations, impeachment campaigns, and renewed efforts to turn political disputes into legal proceedings.

His bleakest prescription is for Trump to resign and leave others to manage the aftermath. But the more immediate prospect is two years of divided government, with legislative ambitions colliding with presidential vetoes and congressional oversight becoming a central political battlefield.

The danger is a Washington consumed by confrontation while voters expecting relief from everyday pressures discover that winning an election and governing successfully are different achievements.

Sodom, Gomorrah, and the Banana Republic to come. After tonight, the next four to six years will be the wildest that we have ever seen. [DAVID ROBERT DAVIDSON]

Good Night, Patriots! And Pray!
