SCOTUS ensures Executive Branch acts within the confines of the Constitution and federal statutes

Supreme Court Allows ICE Raids to Resume in California

The Supreme Court lifted a district court’s restrictions on federal authorities’ conduct of immigration operations in Southern California, handing the Trump administration another significant win via the high court’s emergency docket.

The high court ruled 6-3 on Monday in favor of halting a ruling by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California that prevented federal immigration officers from relying on apparent race, language spoken, location, or job as sole reasons to inquire about a person’s immigration status in the Los Angeles area.

The Supreme Court’s split came on ideological lines, with Justice Brett Kavanaugh writing a concurrence in favor of the ruling.

Kavanaugh concluded in his opinion that the Trump administration showed it was likely to succeed in the case and suffer irreparable harm if the district court’s ruling is not paused.

Justice Alito questions the Legality of SCOTUS opinion

Alito Calls Supreme Court Block of Venezuelan Gang Deportations ‘Legally Questionable’

The high court shunned normal procedure in blocking the removals, Justice Samuel Alito said in a dissent joined by Justice Clarence Thomas

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito filed a strongly worded dissent from the court’s order issued early April 19 that temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting alleged members of the Venezuelan criminal gang Tren de Aragua.

The dissenting opinion, which was joined by Justice Clarence Thomas, was posted on the court’s website early on April 20.

“In sum, literally in the middle of the night, the Court issued unprecedented and legally questionable relief without giving the lower courts a chance to rule, without hearing from the opposing party, within eight hours of receiving the application, with dubious factual support for its order, and without providing any explanation for its order,” Alito wrote.

“I refused to join the Court’s order because we had no good reason to think that, under the circumstances, issuing an order at midnight was necessary or appropriate.”

Fake News Media's Negative Spin

Trump-Justice Roberts Hot Mic Exchange Ignites Media Firestorm

March 5, 2025, after a brief hot mic exchange with Chief Justice John Roberts during Trump’s address to Congress sparked widespread speculation and conspiracy theories.

During the joint session of Congress on March 4, Trump was caught on microphone telling Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, “Thank you again, I won’t forget it,” setting off a flurry of media speculation about what the president was expressing gratitude for.

Many media outlets immediately connected the remarks to the Supreme Court’s July 2024 ruling in Trump v. United States, which granted former presidents immunity from prosecution for official acts performed during their presidency.

On Wednesday, the president took to his Truth Social platform to address what he characterized as unfounded speculation.

“They never called my office to ask, of course, but if they had I would have told these sleazebag ‘journalists’ that I thanked him for SWEARING ME IN ON INAUGURATION DAY, AND DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB IN SO DOING! The Fake News never quits!” Trump wrote.

Chief Justice John Roberts speaks out

SCOTUS chief justice warns about defiance of court rulings

U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Roberts wrote a warning in his year-end report on the federal judiciary that defiance of court rulings by elected officials and others could threaten democracy in the country.

"Within the past few years, elected officials from across the political spectrum have raised the specter of open disregard for federal court rulings. These dangerous suggestions, however sporadic, must be soundly rejected," Roberts wrote.

"Every Administration suffers defeats in the court system -- sometimes in cases with major ramifications for executive or legislative power or other consequential topics," Roberts said. "Nevertheless, for the past several decades, the decisions of the courts, popular or not, have been followed, and the Nation has avoided the standoffs that plagued the 1950s and 1960s."

For his part, President Joe Biden has advocated packing the court with more (liberal) justices to get around rulings and has repeatedly signed executive orders that went against them, such as the numerous attempts at student loan forgiveness.

MSN.com noted that Roberts typically stays away from commenting on politics and political topics, so the warning is particularly meaningful in that light.

New Jersey Governor says he will defy SCOTUS

Gov. Murphy Vows to Defy SCOTUS ‘to Save Lives’ if Abortion Pill Banned

Actually, does he realize he is killing babies?

On Wednesday, New Jersey blue state Governor Phil Murphy appeared on MSNBC’s “Katy Tur Reports” and vowed to defy the Supreme Court if they rule against the abortion pill mifepristone.

He declared that such a ruling will “cost people’s lives, women in particular, sadly. And so, if that’s what’s at stake, we’ll do whatever it takes to save lives.”

No. A ruling against an abortion pill will SAVE lives…..unborn lives.

SCOTUS says No, No, No to Biden and EPA'S Overreach

Supreme Court Drops 9-0 Ruling on Biden

White House Floored by Unanimous Decision

To be sure, the Biden administration is making radical moves when we aren’t looking. Nearly every branch of the federal government is rushing ahead to put into place his socialist agenda. And that goes beyond simply taxing us into oblivion and spending billions on welfare programs.

Democrats also want to decide how you live your life, in nearly every situation. It won’t be long until they try to decide where you live or who you should marry! Biden’s EPA tried to pull a fast one on Americans who wanted to build a home near a wetland. But the Supreme Court had other ideas.

The high court’s unanimous 9-0 decision, which was delivered by Justice Samuel Alito, rejected the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) broad definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS)

SCOTUS rules in IRS Taxpayer case

Supreme Court Rules IRS Can Secretly Grab Bank Records of Outside Parties

The Court that Biden wants to overturn, ruled for his point of view

The Supreme Court has ruled unanimously in a delinquent taxpayer case that it is lawful for the IRS to secretly summons the bank records of third parties.

In other words, the nation’s highest court recognized that the Internal Revenue Service is not required to notify third parties who are not under investigation when seeking a summons for banking records thought to be relevant to the tax delinquency of another person.

One lawyer who briefed the Supreme Court said the new ruling gives the IRS “startlingly broad authority to pry into the financial records of people who may be only remotely connected to a delinquent taxpayer.”

Battle lines being drawn for Biden's choice for SCOTUS

White House Confirms Name on Biden’s Short List for Supreme Court

J. Michelle Childs, appointed by Obama, is the Judge of the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.

In September 2020, Childs granted a preliminary injunction that blocked South Carolina's absentee ballot witness requirement. A United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit panel initially blocked the injunction granted by Childs, but the full appeals court reinstated it during an en banc session. Ultimately, the injunction was struck down by the Supreme Court of the United States. [Wikipedia]
