According to London's Daily Telegraph, Downing Street is preparing to hold talks this week on a plan to require social media companies to actively prioritize content from government-approved outlets – the BBC, Channel 4, and ITV.

The justification? To help British citizens "discover trusted news sources." That's the actual language used by anonymous sources inside the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The government says legacy outlets have lost popularity because of social media algorithms – not because viewers are choosing something else.

That's the tell. When the audience walks away from your product and your answer is to force them back, you've stopped believing in journalism and started believing in propaganda.

Florida can now begin enforcing its 2024 restrictions on minors’ use of social media after the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals lifted a lower-court injunction that had blocked the law on First Amendment grounds.

In a divided ruling, the appellate panel granted the state’s request for a stay, finding Florida is likely to succeed in defending House Bill 3—a statute that bans children under 14 from using platforms with “addictive” design features, requires parental consent for 14- and 15-year-olds, and mandates deletion of minors’ data upon request.

The majority held that the law is likely a content-neutral regulation of platform features rather than speech itself, and said the public interest supports allowing enforcement while litigation continues.

In dissent, a circuit judge called the measure “plainly unconstitutional” and argued it imposes broad age-verification burdens that would chill lawful speech.

“They’re able to use this [SIM] network to initiate social media accounts by the millions,” said one intelligence analyst familiar with the ongoing SIM farm investigation by the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Secret Service, and other federal agencies.

Homeland Security Investigations and the Secret Service raided five SIM farms in the greater New York City area. They disabled and seized more than 300 SIM servers operating from nondescript corporate office locations.

The farms use hundreds of thousands of SIM cards to create online cell numbers that can send out mass texts and synchronized attacks to lay siege to America’s critical infrastructure.

But one account in particular has investigators working around the clock. The now-deleted X account @TallyHallAlbum posted an eerily specific "joke" on September 3, declaring it would be "funny if someone like Charlie Kirk got shot on September 10th LMAO."

Seven days later, Kirk was dead – shot in the neck by a single bullet while addressing a crowd about transgender mass shooters.

But that same account wasn’t finished making threats.
Just days after Kirk’s murder, @TallyHallAlbum escalated with a cryptic post: "did i" – followed by the chilling message "Donald Trump. December 14th." before scrubbing the entire profile from existence.

The law, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2024, would have banned social media accounts for children under 14 and required parental permission for 14- and 15-year-olds to use these platforms.

Trump asks Supreme Court to delay potential implementation of TikTok ban

Despite Donald Trump's previous statements against the use of TikTok in America because of national security concerns, the president-elect appears to be changing his stance.

According to the New York Post, Trump is going straight to the Supreme Court and asking the justices to delay any prospective implementation of a law that would ban TikTok in the U.S.

Currently, the law is scheduled to take effect on Jan. 19, 2025, just one day before Trump is sworn in as the 47th president of the United States of America.

Trump wants a ruling on the legality of the implementation of the law delayed at least until he takes office.

Florida Lawmakers Approve Ban on Social Media Use for Children

Legislation to keep children under the age of 16 off social media has been approved by Florida’s House and Senate and only requires Governor Ron DeSantis’ signature to bring it into effect.

DeSantis, however, has not yet confirmed that he will approve it and has expressed some concerns over the content and reach of the bill. He also pointed out that there already exists a federal law banning children under 13 from using social media platforms, yet this is not generally enforced.

The legislation demands that social media sites delete accounts belonging to any minor under 16 years of age. It also requires that they use third-party software to verify that a user is aged 16 or over before allowing them to create their account.

The bill is aimed at sites and apps that have potentially addictive aspects, such as notifications, videos that automatically play, and infinite scrolling. It does not, however, block sites whose primary function is the sending and receiving of direct messages such as emails.

The bill had support from Democrats and Republicans and passed the House vote with a majority of 108-7 as they believe that social media companies were manipulating children by use of “addictive features.”

Personally, I believe that parents need to take a pro-active approach with their children. It is up to them to keep them out of harm's way and know what they are viewing on social media, who they hang out with and what they are doing... not the government interfering in their lives in this respect. A federal appeals court has determined that the Biden administration, health officials, and the FBI have acted in a manner contrary to the First Amendment by exerting pressure on social media corporations to suppress posts concerning COVID-19, Hunter Biden, and elections.

5th Circuit Court of Appeals, is headquartered at the John Minor Wisdom United States Court of Appeals Building in New Orleans, Louisiana, upheld a previous ruling prohibiting certain government representatives, including those from the Biden administration, from communicating with social media companies regarding content moderation.

“The Fifth Circuit has upheld the district court’s order in our free speech case, Missouri v. Biden, enjoining the White House, Surgeon General, CDC, & FBI from violating the First Amendment rights of millions of Americans,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.

The judge restricted some agencies and officials of the Biden administration from meeting and communicating with social media companies. These companies colluded with Biden and the Democrats to moderate content, according to a court filing and known reality recognized by most conservatives.

The ruling declared that government agencies like the Department of Health and Human Services and the FBI could not talk to social media companies for “the purpose of urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner the removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech” under the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Merrick Garland is reviewing and evaluating their options.

“The border’s an important part of this conversation because most of the fentanyl that we see coming into the United States is coming in through the southwest border,” she said. “Social media is also a vital part of the conversation. It is what I call the last mile. Because what the cartels need – they’re selling the deadliest poison we’ve ever seen – they need that to … be able to expand and sell more, they need to be able to reach people at massive rates. And that’s what social media’s doing.”

TikTok is among DeSantis’ targets, with the governor proposing to bar access to the suspected China-linked platform through any government-issued devices or networks serving them, including schools, colleges and universities.

The U.S. made up the largest base of TikTok users as of April 2022, with some 136.5 million Americans engaging with the app. India actually banned TikTok altogether—along with more than 50 other Chinese-owned apps back in 2020—with an Indian government spokesperson saying the sites were outlawed because "they are engaged in activities which [are] prejudicial to [the] sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security of state and public order."

At the top of that list is if DHS was working with social media platforms to silence dissenting voices.

The bulletin was put out by the Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), which is part of DHS and we also know this administration has been working with the major platforms to silence dissenting opinions.

Despite the fact that the Biden administration's "Disinformation Governance Board" publicly imploded earlier in 2022, DHS plans and efforts to police what information is shared by Americans online are still developing and even more wide-ranging than previously known, according to a new investigation published by The Intercept.

Supreme Court agrees to hear suit by Facebook parent company against cyber intelligence firm

In a major development, Breitbart reported that the Supreme Court agreed on Monday to hear a lawsuit involving Facebook parent company Meta.
 
The lawsuit pits Meta against the NSO Group, an Israeli cyber intelligence company that created a spyware program known as “Pegasus.” The Program is said to have targeted heads of state along with reporters and activists.

Meta contends that the Pegasus program allowed governments to spy on journalists, activists, and political figures who used its social media platform WhatsApp. “NSO’s spyware has enabled cyberattacks targeting human rights activists, journalists and government officials,” the company was quoted as saying in its brief.
