Bookmakers Say 2026 Could Be His Year

President Donald Trump is already the man to beat for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize — at least according to one major European bookmaker.

U.K.-based William Hill has installed Trump as the early favorite, giving him 3/1 odds to take home the prestigious award — despite the fact that the secretive Nobel Committee hasn’t even confirmed its list of nominees yet.

The betting giant says Trump was “overlooked” in 2025 — when the prize instead went to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado — but believes this year could be different.

“Trump is the leading contender,” said spokesperson Lee Phelps, putting his chances at roughly 25%.

Many supporters argued Trump deserved recognition for his foreign policy moves during his second term — including efforts to broker peace in global conflicts.

Adding fuel to that argument: Machado herself later honored Trump in a highly symbolic gesture, presenting him with her Nobel medal at the White House as a sign of gratitude for his role in Venezuela’s political shift.

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) has nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, as have others, for the president’s role in brokering this week’s ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel.

Carter said he wrote a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Tuesday to “formally nominate” Trump for the coveted prize “in recognition of his extraordinary and historic role in brokering an end to the armed conflict between Israel and Iran.”

It is unclear if the ceasefire will hold, and Trump berated both sides Tuesday morning before leaving for a NATO summit in Europe.

“We basically — we have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f‑‑‑ they’re doing,” he told reporters at the White House.

Carter’s letter, which comes three days after Trump bombed multiple sites in Iran, also touted the president’s role in “preventing the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining the most lethal weapon on the planet,” referring to Iran’s efforts to get a nuclear weapon.

The government of Pakistan on Friday recommended President Donald Trump for a 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for his role in de-escalating a brief conflict between India and Pakistan earlier this year.

Earlier this year, the Trump administration intervened to stop a conflict between Islamabad in New Delhi in its early stages after a terrorist attack in the Kashmir region led India to attack its Islamic neighbor.

“The Government of Pakistan has decided to formally recommend President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis,” the government stated.

“At a moment of heightened regional turbulence, President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi which de-escalated a rapidly deteriorating situation, ultimately securing a ceasefire and averting a broader conflict between the two nuclear states that would have had catastrophic consequences for millions of people in the region and beyond,” it went on. “This intervention stands as a testament to his role as a genuine peacemaker and his commitment to conflict resolution through dialogue.”

The Pakistani government further expressed gratitude for Trump’s offer to help resolve the territorial dispute in the Jammu and Kashmir region, which has been a point of contention for decades.

The U.S. president has previously been nominated for his work in negotiating the Abraham Accords between Israel and several Middle Eastern Islamic governments.
