Beauty and the Beach

Comment Up

Drove to the beach yesterday to see how the surf was doing...wondering if Andrea was churning it up.

On the way back to my car, noticed some beautiful flowers in bloom--

At Bryant Park there are a couple of trees that are spectacular... don't know what they are. Gael Silverblatt, help me out!

Yes we do have a lot of natural beauty in our town. It is too bad that people love to trash it. Let's get some no littering signs installed mentioning stiff fines.

I agree, thanks Lynn for the great photographs again and for caring about making this city greater, we live ins a little paradise here, with caring people like you and so many it can only keep getting better. God bless you always!

Lynn, The trees are our former City Horticulturist Martin Cybulski's favorite flowering tree Queen Crape Myrtles.

Thanks, Gael. The pink flowering one or the purple? How often do they flower? I would love to get some of these trees out where I live.

Both the pink and purple flowering trees are Queen Crape Myrtles. There is also a large one in Triangle Park along Lake Ave. They only bloom from June to July.
