Preston Smith
Some of you will remember when atheist Preston Smith gave the invocation at City Hall. This was back on December 2, 2014. Lake Worth now has electric rate parity with FPL

Something that Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell was insistent upon was electric rate parity with Florida Power & Light.<
The city stated the following: On Tuesday night the commission confirmed that as of the first full bill in 2018 (January) a residential customer using 1000 KWH will be billed $0.21 less through LWU than through FP&L. The chart below shows a breakdown of how this is determined. An important note is the 8% franchise fee, this is a charge that FP&L would be charged to do business within the City and would pass on to customers. Because LWU is a City owned utility it does not have to pay this fee.

Over-reaching developers nearly grabbed waterfront property for a 25 story high rise
A proposed 25 story office tower went down in flames last night when the West Palm Beach city commissioners voted 3/2 to defeat the project.
West Palm Beach wanted to create an overlay district to encourage development of high rises along Okeechobee Boulevard. Related Group wanted the waterfront at Okeechobee and Flagler for their One Flagler proposal. That property is zoned no higher than five stories.
When reading the article this morning it reminded me of what Lake Worth Commissioners did when they changed the zoning and the land use east of Federal to accommodate the owners of The Gulfstream Hotel. They created a Hotel District and allowed six stories to be developed and told the voters literally to "go to hell" who voted in a low-rise downtown Lake Worth of no more than four stories
Lake Worth's Planning & Zoning department voted to change our comprehensive plan and the land-development regulations and gave their recommendations to their "develop at all costs" leaders, Maxwell, Triolo and Amoroso, on the Lake Worth commission. The only ones who spoke out against it were ordinary citizens who were totally ignored as well as former Commissioner Christopher McVoy. Citizens formed a political action committee, Respectful Planning PAC. They rallied the voters and won by Referendum on March 13, 2013, five months before the city changed the Land Development Regulations on August 6, 2013 on a vote from the dais.
I congratulate West Palm Beach Commissioner Shanon Materio for voting this down thus preserving the waterfront on Flagler from an obnoxiously high development and to honor their voters (something all elected officials should be doing) who told them in 1996 that they did not want high rises on the waterfront.

To maintain high water quality in the City of Lake Worth water distribution system, the City of Lake Worth Water Treatment Plant will temporarily change the water chlorination methods for two weeks from October 01, 2017 through October 18, 2017. The City of Lake Worth will also increase hydrant flushing during this time. This is a preventive maintenance process.
Starting October 01, 2017 a “free chlorine residual” water treatment method will be used to provide a stronger, faster acting disinfection process than the “combined chlorine or Chloramines” treatment which is normally used. The City of Lake Worth will revert back to the “combined chlorine” method by October 18, 2017. As part of this process, the City of Lake Worth will be flushing fire hydrants. This flushing will cause temporary water in the swales of the roadways. Please do not be alarmed by this water as it will dissipate within a few hours.
The City of Lake Worth and their Consecutive Systems water utility customers including Lake Osborne Estates, Hypoluxo Village, John Prince Park, Lantana Cascade and Palm Breezes Club may notice a slight chlorine taste or odor in their tap water during this period; however, these temporary conditions should not cause adverse health effects. If you are especially sensitive to the taste or odor of chlorine, keep an open container of drinking water in your refrigerator for a few hours to allow the chlorine to dissipate. Tropical fish tank owners, hospitals, dialysis patients and residents with pools should be aware of the chlorination changes and make adjustments accordingly. Any questions should be directed to the City of Lake Worth Water Treatment Plant (561) 586-1710.
Please note, if you have an aquarium or pond always test the water you add to your aquatic environment to be sure it is free of any chlorine, chlorinated water may be toxic to your aquatic environment. I’ve been a season pass holder at Yankee Stadium, Yale Bowl and the Giants Stadium.
I missed the ’90-’91 season because I was with a battalion of Marines in Desert Storm. 14 of my wonderful Marines returned home with the American Flag draped across their lifeless bodies. My last conversation with one of them, Sgt. Garrett Mongrella, was about how our Giants were going to the Super Bowl. He never got to see it.
Many friends, Marines, and Special Forces Soldiers who worked with or for me through the years returned home with the American Flag draped over their coffins.
Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes who never did anything in their lives but play a game, disrespect what brave Americans fought and died for. They are essentially spitting in the faces and on the graves of real men, men who have actually done something for this country beside playing with a ball and believing they’re something special! They’re not! My Marines and Soldiers were!
You are complicit in this! You’ll fine players for large and small infractions but you lack the moral courage and respect for our nation and the fallen to put an immediate stop to this. Yes, I know, it’s their 1st Amendment right to behave in such a despicable manner.
What would happen if they came out and disrespected you or the refs publicly?
I observed a player getting a personal foul for twerking in the end zone after scoring. I guess that’s much worse than disrespecting the flag and our National Anthem. Hmmmmm, isn’t it his 1st Amendment right to express himself like an idiot in the end zone?
Why is taunting not allowed yet taunting America is OK? You fine players for wearing 9-11 commemorative shoes yet you allow scum on the sidelines to sit, kneel or pump their pathetic fist in the air. They are so deprived with their multi-million dollar contracts for playing a freaking game!
You condone it all by your refusal to act. You’re just as bad and disgusting as they are. I hope Americans boycott any sponsor who supports that rabble you call the NFL. Legends and heroes do NOT wear shoulder pads. They wear body armor and carry rifles. They make minimum wage and spend months and years away from their families. They don’t do it for an hour on Sunday. They do it 24/7 often with lead, not footballs, coming in their direction. They watch their brothers carted off in pieces not on a gurney to get their knee iced. They don’t even have ice! Many don’t have legs or arms.
Some wear blue and risk their lives daily on the streets of America. They wear fire helmets and go upstairs into the fire rather than down to safety. On 9-11, hundreds vanished. They are the heroes.
I hope that your high paid protesting pretty boys and you look in that mirror when you shave tomorrow and see what you really are, legends in your own minds. You need to hit the road and take those worms with you!

DACA applications approved
TRUMP ADMIN APPROVES NEARLY 6,000 INITIAL DACA APPLICATIONS
In the months leading up to Pres. Trump's decision to end the unconstitutional DACA executive amnesty, his administration approved 5,860 new DACA applications between April 1 and June 30 and approved 96,708 renewals.
What stands out most, however, is the number of denials. The Trump administration denied 32% of the initial applications where a decision was made. The denial rate is nearly double the rate for all of 2016. While our hope was for Pres. Trump to end the DACA amnesty back in January, if there is a bright side, it's that his administration added more scrutiny to the applications and approved fewer requests. [NumbersUSA]

He continues to attempt to make a case against Mike Flynn over alleged collusion with the Russians. Everyone knows that the Russian story was contrived by the Hillary Campaign staff right after the election. They need something quick to blame her unexplainable (to them) loss in the election.
Mr. Mueller has now decided to reach inside the White House and start reading their emails on the subject. This seems to be a great overreach on any level. Congress needs to step in and do something or they will wind up with a Constitutional crisis on their hands. The days of kangaroo courts were done away with long ago. Building bridges and eliminating "hate" are noble endeavors. As the mayor read the proclamation on "hate" at Tuesday's commission meeting, her tone was assertive. Perhaps she was reflecting "tough love" in her presentation but it sounded more than that--maybe a dressing down of anyone who dares to "hate." Everyone in the chamber and on the dais was politically correct and clapped madly after her proclamation.
The city's statement brought up Charlottesville where we all know that riots and even a death never would have happened if the hate group, Antifa, had not ascended on the scene to do violence against the other group, the KKK. You are never going to end hate groups but you can, as city officials, find a way to deny permits to them.
Black minorities are raising havoc and protesting everything imaginable...even want reparations from Whitey because of slavery 150 years ago. Prior to that, blacks in Africa were putting their own people on slave ships and shipping them to America for profit. Different times; different cultures. And what some blacks did to white people after the civil War--horrors.
I remember John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson and how we all, as a nation, had come together for civil rights. I was a proud Democrat back then and was for 40 years. I thought all this "hate" was over with and then came Barack Obama 50 years later. Obama emphasized his black heritage, not his white, the start of the racial divide. At that time, 70% of Americans thought race relations were better and would continue under Obama. Instead, racial relations was one of Obama's biggest failures. His erstwhile pastor, Jeremiah Wright, was brought into the mix with his "God damn America pitch. That was the deciding factor in my life to officially change my party affiliation once and for all.
NO one can convince me not to abhor the person or persons in the video below with their warped sense of injustices that they believe the African American has suffered and is still suffering in a land with opportunity for all. And I have no use for people such as these and don't feel the least bit guilty.
