Waterman DID diss the Blogs

Comment Up
As the Commission discussed funding the Internal Auditor position and eliminating the one staff position, the City Manager said that she was surprised of all the negativity. She did not want the position politicized. When talking about the Internal Auditor position she said that the blogsophere and all the people generating all of the e-mails (regarding the necessity of the position) will say that the City is not serious and would complain no matter what they did if the position was only partially funded.

The Mayor then responded at about 3:32:48 into the recording: The 15 individuals who live on the blogs are going to complain. I'm not responsive to the 15 individuals who complain on the blogs everyday. There are 34,865 other people out there.

So, this was not taken out of context, Mayor. Everyone heard it exactly as they thought.

We all are also appreciative that you set the record straight, Lynn. WHAT was THAT? Ms. Mayor???

I was sort of surprised on that one. I guess she meant that she didn't say that we all lied to one another. :)

Why doesn't Ms. Mayor start her own blog so she can put out the city news (in her opinion) and address our questions herself? I swear if I see her in the carriage in the Christmas Parade I'll barf!
Lynn, you are an asset to the city!

Lynn, after you left the meeting Tuesday night, the Mayor thanked you for clearing up what she said during the budget workshop on 8/29. She implied that you were indicating that she did not diss the blogs. You might want to listen to this audio too.

Waterman said the public shouldn't believe everything printed in the newspaper. She wan't responsible for the mis-truths written by others. But the Mayor must remember she is responsible for comments that she makes!

Thanks. It just goes to show ya that anyone can misintrepret the written word. However, most of us are just not that stupid as the commissison would have others believe. They all just kicked everyone in the teeth.

I don't believe everything that is written in the blogs and I also recognize that its written from a certain perspective (one that I might not agree with), but I really appreciate the time and effort by the bloggers who help disseminate information not always easily obtainable by folks like me (who work 70+ hours a week and can't attend every planning and commission meeting).

Do you believe in FACTS?

I couldn't make it to the meeting but when I got home I listened to some of it. 1st, I was astonished that more people didn't speak against the budget and assessments. Those that did made great sense for the most part.

Troubling to me was the condescending tone of the Mayor and attitude of the CM. "We've worked so hard" was their mantra. Well guess what... we've been working very hard too.

Unfortunately, we are working harder and making less. You are working hard and charging us more
