Voters in Indiana yesterday provided another one of those historic shifts in the immigration battles that I have to share with all of you.
Sen. Lugar is one of the last hold-overs of the Republican Senators who not only tried to push through all the Bush amnesties at the beginning of this century but also back in the 1990s helped kill the immigration enforcement and green card reductions recommended by the bi-partisan Barbara Jordan Commission.
No matter which Party wins in November, the Indiana Senate seat now held by Richard Lugar should produce far better immigration actions in the future. Go to NumbersUSA to read the rest of the story.
On another note, I write about things that turn me on, that are interesting to me, not only on a local perspective but nationally and sometimes internationally. This is an advocacy site and as such, it is not just one-dimensional. It is written through years of experience and finally coming to the conclusion in 2008 that I stood for more than socialism and a Democratic Party that had lost its way at the detriment of the American people. This was stark realism after 40 years of being a Democrat.
For a few of you who are constantly pissed off about what appears on this blog and have your own sense of morality and justice, right and wrong, and ideas that just differ from mine, I invite you first to attend as many meetings as possible within the city and read as much as possible on the issues that directly affect your lives, locally, nationally and internationally. Do not blindly follow a Party or a person. Learn your history, especially in Lake Worth, and the decisions that were made by past and present commissioners that cost you plenty.
Do not allow yourself to be persuaded by someone you consider "nice" or a do-gooder or someone on the dais who has a gift of persuasion. Observe him or her in action at the dais and determine what their interest is in the entire city, not just voting for their special interests. Learn what they do during an election. If that doesn't cut it, then visit the socialistworker.org, barackobama.com, la Raza, and on a local level, the other two bloggers for all of your political information.

Ahhhh! Finally... a deeply entrenched politician bites the dust. A man who has a smile on his face even when he's pissed off. Glad to see him go. Listened how the Taxed Enough Already Party made a big difference and doesn't see Luggar as a conservative. We want a conservative, not an appeaser.
Listened to McCormack who defeated Luggar and was impressed by what he had to say. You don't compromise on your ideals and what you stand for. Only little details. We need to regain a sane majority so the socialists have to compromise.
Congratulations to the TEA Party. Reports of our death have been exagerated!
And, on another note, I think you took my comment about thinking you were nice way back when the wrong way.
Thanks, anonymous. We all have different ways of looking at things. Sometimes it has nothing whatsoever to do with being "nice" or not so nice. I agree with your comments above on getting more conservatives elected.
BRAVA! What a wonderful idea! THINKING FOR YOURSELF - BASED ON YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE AND RESEARCH! To follow a party or any person blindly is ridiculous and an insult to ones own intelligence! By the way, the author of this blog is nice; more than nice in fact, and the variety of subjects and the principled approach is refreshing.
